The campground and cabin areas were well kept and clean. The self-check-in was convenient. The cabin was the perfect size for a couple and had a nice porch to sit on in the evening. The cabin looked relatively new, nicely decorated and very clean. We had an issue with the water heater and had trouble getting a hold of the management, but got things resolved pretty quickly afterward. It was a great place to stop for the night after exploring Shell Falls.

We stayed in the bunkhouse cabin. It was very nice, clean, had a nice kitchenette to cook. Cute and nicely decorated. No noise. TV with roku. Recommendation is to have better lighting in the bathroom. And lighting over the table. It was a perfect place to stay as we traveled from Yellowstone to Mt Rushmore- about half way. And we were able to drive through the Bighorn National Forest which is right outside Shell.

Such a beautiful campground! We stayed in the cabins for a little family get-together. Everything was so clean and quiet and the owners were very friendly and accomodating. The campground was only a short drive from the dinosaur track site, rockhounding, Shell Falls, and the mountains. There are so many great things to do in this area. We will definitely stay here again!

Cabin was cozy and was a decent deal. Plains to the west and Big Horn National Forrest to the East.Expedia had changed my booking dates on the payment screen, then told me it was non refundable and frankly tried to screw me out of the whole booking cost. A 45 second call with Shell Campground and they had fixed my booking dates directly after Expedia told me to f myself. Shell Campground was helpful, kind, honest, clean, and fully enjoyable. 5 stars. Highly recommend them. They also have laundry on site, and sell bags of ice to save you a trip to a gas station before you start the days adventures.

for one night this was a good place to stay, the tent i stayed at was comfortable and showers and bathroom was fine, though a bit of a distance if you need to walk there at night. The only small glitch was that there was no staff around, they did call me a few hours before arrival to give me instructions, but in my experience when the landlord/owner is not living there themselves on the site problems start to arise. Overall I liked this place, recommend it. Be aware that there is no gas station or much of a food around. The tent itself was really nice, with a nice view of the sunset, (early afternoon it is pretty hot inside), you can also start a fire in front of it, there was a fire pit there.

Very cute little campground that is well maintained. We stayed in one of the glamping tents. It was comfortable and had a lovely view from the deck. The bathrooms and showers were clean. The staff (possibly owner?) that we spoke to was friendly and resolved the only issue that we had right away. Would absolutely stay again!

Absolutely terrible customer service. Made this reservation by mistake while trying to find a place close to the town we need to travel to for a funeral. Never have been around this area.Tried to cancel within 12 hours and they will not budge on the refund. Even though we had spoken with a lady who said she would, but when contacted by the hopper booking app, they refused. We are already heartbroken about grandma's funeral, now we're out of our lodging money. Hope they feel good about that. Where is the compassion?

We had the most enjoyable stay! Incredibly friendly staff that made us feel welcome. We stayed in the bunk hoiset. Clean room, newly remodeled large bathroom, tap beer available at the store where you check in, um yes!! They also had homemade fresh cinnamon rolls and coffee in the morning available for purchase. They were amazing! Highly recommend this campground.

The host was very friendly and helpful with our last-minute check in! The property was clean and nicely kept up. It is located near the Bighorn Mountains with lots of beautiful scenery and hikes. We would love to stay again! Pet friendly and firewood for purchase. Hot, clean showers and laundry.

This was a small spot in the big horn National park. Pretty place but there are problems. WiFi sucked. I was at the farthest end from the office so that could have been why. But I was also 25 ft from the dumpster. I was there Thursday through Sunday and the dumpster was piled high. I had a few flies in my trailer 😕. The actual office/store was closed which sort of felt like no one has a handle on what was going down there. Several cabins, 4-5 tents that are not yurts and do not have AC (it was in the high 90s during the day) but are very nice. Laundry was one coin op washer and one coin op dryer and there was a line. Pretty place with a fire pit and a beautiful grassy lawn no t mobile service but that’s not really their fault. Two showers in the ladies room but no place to change privately like most campgrounds have and the curtains we a little too short so water was always on the floor of the toilet stall next to the shower. Toilets have a small hook and eye closure which failed as I say doing my business and another woman came in. She just yanked the door open. Embarrassing for all. It does look like they may be remodelling as the Windows look to have been replaced but not finished on the inside of the bathroom. I hope they frost the windows.

Loved it. We stayed in one of the cabins for a week and rode the big horn mountain range. The owners and camp hosts were super friendly and accommodating. We met some of the locals who would stop by the convenience store for refreshments on occasion....great atmosphere and BEST cinnamon rolls ever. Would definitely stay again.

I had one of the rudest experiences ever while traveling here. Nice place, horrible servicve. I felt like I was in california not Wyoming. Simply no want to accomadate a trveler with not effort required. Just not the way i was raised. Not sure where these folks are from, but definitely not from the small town I grew up in. Ended up sleeping in the yard of the local bar.

WONDERFUL! My wife and I spent the weekend here with our infant son and German Shepherd. The new owners, Kevin and Emily, were absolutely fantastic! The cabin we stayed in was clean, cozy, and modern. The area is beautiful with tons to do; we saw fossilized dinosaur tracks, snowmobile area close by, and ATV trails accessible from the property. The hospitality the owners showed was nothing less than white glove service! They also sell fresh, homemade cinnamon rolls which are absolutely delicious, and even offer some of their wonderful recipes frozen for take-home. We highly recommend and will be coming back this summer!

Let me start with this … the cabin was beautiful. Bed was comfortable -amenities all new and working well. However, I did not like the fact that no one was onsite when we arrived and no one was onsite the next morning. Everything was through a drop box. And there was no way to contact anyone even by phone. The campsite had only 2 other campers in small RVs- no other cabins were occupied - this meant the campsite was desolate in a remote town with no amenities. And then the worst of all … in the middle of the night my husband and I were awakened by someone pounding on our door. A woman was telling me “ it’s an emergency” I told her I would not open my door. She told me a ridiculous story that something had happened to her car on the mountain and she wanted help getting to a gas station - at 1 am in a town without a gas station.Thank told her I would not help her and go ask one of the others at the site.Meanwhile I called 911. Told them I was scared because the place is desolate. They told me they would get dispatch and send someone and would call me back. No one came and they never called back. The next morning I asked the 2 other parties if she had pounded on their doors. She had not.It was a highly creepy suspicious situation. We had no one we could contact.I sat up all night wondering whether she would come back - and hoping police would arrive. I was thankful when morning came and the other campers were outside so we were in the company of others and we left immediately. This was an intolerable situation. Under the circumstances I would never recommend this place.

Shell Campground is awesome! The owners (Terry and Margie) are great and go out of their way to make sure that their guest are happy and comfortable. I stayed for 2 weeks doing geology field work, and they helped me out numerous times. The campsites are comfortable, with nice big trees and sturdy tables, and the restrooms are always clean. The office area is very comfortable and a great place to get some work done if needed. If I am ever back in the area I would go out of my way to stay at Shell Campground! The location is also really nice, it is close to the Bighorns, and convenient to Greybull without being in the center of town. The prices are really reasonable for what you get, and everyone is very nice and welcoming. I highly recommend it!

I am so glad we decided to stay here! This is a lovely site with incredibly friendly owners. We were just looking for a place with hot showers and decided to get a cabin instead of camping for the night. The cabins are wonderful with beautiful pieces of artwork, very clean and welcoming. The front office/store has supplies and fire pits outside if you wish to "glamp" like we did, enjoying some roasted marshmallows and a glass of wine by the fire. I would go out of my way to stay here again if I find myself in the Yellowstone/Big horn area again.

Making a trip from coast to coast and this has been the best campground by far. Flat ground everywhere making it easy to set up a tent. There are electric outlets at many of the tent sites as well. The bathroom is dead center and very clean. They have beer on tap and make great food inside the shop. Highly recommend this campground if you're passing through.

The campground is cramped to say the least. The oddest set up ever. No way would I ever stay there again. Over priced and NO customer service. I witnessed them turn away a camper when there were still sites available for the night. Anyone over 5’10 can look right into the showers through the windows. Seriously. Could go on and on and on but no need. There are far better options in Cody.

Very nice campground right next to the road - but not noisy. Emily was very friendly and made us staying though we actually were meant to drive some miles further. Simple but clean and nice washing facilities and some decoration details that showed that there is really somebody taking care of that space by heart!

Great cabins with restrooms and AC ...The campground though, is packed in like sardines. No way could we get our 40' (never mind the dinghy) in the perpendicular sites (not even are they diagonal) to the already narrow drive. Next morning a 5r had to have 2 cars moved and the moho next to him had to pull up just so he could wiggle out (he had 4 spotters)

A very pleasant campground and the new owners are doing an excellent job. There is complementary coffee and a nice selection of beer and other alcoholic beverages for purchase. The Big Horn mountains are close by for anyone who is looking to enjoy some hiking/backing (a guide book is available for use by the front desk)

We stayed here for a night during our 3 week cross country trip, this was one of our favorite stops. What a beautiful view in the back and the cabin was just perfect. Super clean, loved the decor and the paninis at the office we had were fabulous! We cant say enough good things about this gem. If were ever back in WY I can promise well stop here again. It is one of the places we fell in love with on our trip. If your thinking about staying here let me help you decide..YES you should do it, you wont regret it. And the drive through the mountain is just gorgeous also.

The tent and glamping is nice, too bad the guests are aloud and have loud parties. There's no one to contact about it. It's more peaceful in the city. Pretty expensive place to have to listen to people being loud all night.

While camping locally our hunting group stopped by at least a dozen times for odds and ends, some of our party stayed there overnight. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable for a small business that provides so many services. They are even able to assist with conservation tags and were easily able to provide information regarding Wyoming Fish and Game licensing. Great place to stop for anything! If they don't have it they will gladly point you in the right direction. As far as reviewers with negative comments go they need to understand that this is how they are making a living, this is not a state campground.I will be returning any time I pass through.

Stayed in a "glamping" tent, not worth it. Pitch your own tent for cheaper as the set up ones let bugs in like crazy and dont even have the decency of a fan. Alright bed if the insects and heat let you get any sleep. Bathrooms generally cleaner than most campgrounds but worn out.
