So glad we stayed here! Liz, the owner, is the heart of this inn. My husband and I were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm when we arrived. She had many suggestions of where to eat, what to do and where to shop in Dubois which were all spot on. The room was cozy, quaint, very warmly decorated and so clean! The outdoor area by the river is very nice with s'mores every night. There is no cable which is refreshing but tons of movies to choose from if you wanted to watch something. Walking distance to everything. Great place! Thanks Liz for your hospitality!

This place is a gem. The owner was awesome, immediately felt at home. They have videos you can sign out and the tv is huge with a good quality DVD player. There are actually things you will want to buy they have for sale in the office, Huckleberry Chocolate bars in Dark and Milk chocolate. The rooms are huge at least #10 was. Beds are great and the room decor is heavy on teddy bears and Wyoming scenery. At 6 pm they serve smores by the river. They are great, the marshmallows are the highlight paired with a unique chocolate covered cookie. I had seconds :-pThe property is well cared for and they have electric car chargers, as if anyone in Wyoming owns one but they are there. The price is comparable to the area which is elevated because of Yellowstone. I doubt that any other motel is as friendly. My favorite place on a 9 motel trip and any for the last 9 years. Ranger the dog is a well mannered loveable dog. Best wifi for a Motel in the boondocks.Noteworthy details: Rustic charm.

For being a older motel it is really a nice place to stay. Locally owned, well-maintained, clean rooms, decorated nicely to fit the theme. You get to have s’mores by the large campfire next to the river every evening.Rooms: Nicely decorated and clean rooms that has everything you need to get a great night sleep.Walkability: Right in the heart of town where the action is. This motel is right on the river. Beautiful and nicely maintained. We would stay here again. Priced right and locally owned. You can walk to eat or to the many shops on Main Street.

Welcomed us like family, Liz the Inn keeper is very friendly and sweet. The motel sits by a creek with a fire pit and corn hole. The kids had a blast eating s’mores, watching the bats come out and playing with their dog, Ranger. The place was very clean, and walking distance from everything. 10/10No cable needed, you do not come to this beautiful place to watch TV 😂😂😂😂😂

We have come back here since 2019 every spring and every fall. This place is beautiful. The Inn itself has so many little details that makes it special in itself. Each room has a different touch. There's a beautiful fire lit down by the river each night. And if anybody wants a s'more they're always ready and waiting. And last but most certainly not least Liz! Liz makes you feel like you've known her your whole life. And like you could stay here forever and you never want to leave. The most friendliest place I've ever stayed in my entire travels. Super comfy beds. Warm hospitality. Definitely value for your money. As I say we've been coming since 2019 and it is now 2023 I think that says it right there!! Our love Yoakem'sRooms: Beds were comfy and had plenty choice's of blankets/ pillows.Nearby activities: Military museum nearby 10ish miles away, Bighorn. Sheep CenterFood & drinks: Crooked Creek Guest Ranch has outstanding food, or a little less pricey but still very good the Cowboy Cafe!Noteworthy details: Giant black bear statue resides on the property. We've had our picture taken with him several times. And lots of others also get their picture taken with him.

The Inn is great, the rooms are clean and well kept. But the real reason this place is five stars is because of the owner/keeper, Liz. She's the nicest person and genuinely cares about you and your visit (the Inn dog, Ranger, is also great). If you're spending time in Dubois I wouldn't look any further.

I actually liked this motel! This little motel sits right next to the river. It has a great little seating area next to the river where they have smores and the like in the evening. You can tell the owner loves plants and flowers as the landscaping is very lovely. The room is old but kept clean and tidy and is decorated in a way that reminds me of my grandparents cabin in northern Michigan; makes it feel like home. They are very dog friendly and even give you a little goody bag for your pup. There is no air conditioning. While we were there, there was a rain storm that passed through which made the room a little stuffy. The air outside became very pleasant after the storm so we put the fan that was in the room, in the window, to blow air in and it made it tolerable.Overall, we had a great experience here! Would definitely recommend!

I rarely provide negative reviews but this place is so misrepresented with a five star rating. Our room had no operable TV. The host had a library of VHS & DVDs, and offered us access to those, and insisted that her smart tv could access apps to play what we wanted from our accounts, but checking behind the unit was only 1 power cord and three ancient video cords for the VCR. Nothing was connected to the internet or cable. The shower diverter fell off in my hands — it wasn’t even attached by a screw — and host explained that a new one was on order. And WiFi, which we were assured was “excellent,” was spotty at best, and failed entirely at different times.Fine, as with these items and the other peccadilloes which I won’t bore you with a post mortem analysis, we would find acceptable with a motel in he $40-$60 range. But not for three times that. Caveat emptor.——————————-The owner of this motel accused me of writing a “slanderous” review, which is surprising, given that I tried to be fair and dispassionate, not even mentioning a hole in the wall or the fact that she lied to us.My wife also acknowledges that you never mentioned that the tv was inoperable other than as a VHS/DVD player. Understand that we could’ve accepted the lack of television. But an owner overtly and deliberately misrepresenting the situation to us in order to sell a poorly maintained and overpriced room is. I accepted your offer of a discounted rate in order to put the matter at rest, and felt compelled to write an honest review so that your future clients won’t be put in a similar situation.Good luck in your endeavors, as well.

Liz and her family care so deeply for this spot. Everything about our stay felt thoughtful and welcoming; From the nightly s’mores to the detailed community binder to get us antiquated to the small, friendly town of Dubois. This is an excellent place for families, there is even an extensive library of categorized free movies. This was my first “motel” stay in a while and I was so pleasantly surprised. It was extremely clean and quirky! Such a better experience than any of the hotels in West Yellowstone that we stayed in the night before. If you are traveling from Grand Tetons NP, this is an excellent place to rest.

LOVED this little cozy motel. We're on a road trip and this was the best beds we've had since Sept 8. River flows behind the motel, so pretty. Rooms are large, inviting and a nice break from the "chain" hotels for sure. Ms. Liz is a wonderful host, really glad we met her!

Loved everything about this inn! Super clean, extra soft beds, incredibly warm and accommodating hostess who had a bonfire and s’mores under the starry Wyoming sky ready for us when we rolled in to town at 9:30 PM. Black Bear checks all the must-have boxes for a good inn, with so many extras. Perfect for families. Woman-Owned! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

This was perfect for my wife and I as we passed through on our way to The Tetons and Yellowstone. The 'black bear' theme provided character and made the room feel homey. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Above all that, the staff was amazing which made the entire stay 'beary' enjoyable. 10/10 recommend this to anyone! Bonus: the scenery was incredible and worth the drive.

Spent a good night here. Great small town style Inn. There is a neat little spot down by the creek where the hostess builds a fire and supplies all the necessities for s’mores. It was good sitting around the fire eating and talking with other guests. Later I spent the night by the creek in my hammock. The hostess was very helpful and was ready to give us anything you’ll need. If your not needing anything fancy this is a great place to stay.

We stopped by for 1 night. Liz is an excellent host and very welcoming. She’s very flexible with cancellations as well. The rooms are nice and the bathroom was very well equipped and plenty of space. Although, it is quite a hike from Teton and the south entrance of the park, the drive was nice both ways. Please allow 1.5 hrs minimum from the park entrance. I’d strongly recommend this place to anyone. Thanks to Liz for all the help and warmth.

Our room was great. The place was spotless, the bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed. The owner and staff are the icing on the cake, from the warm welcoming to the nightly gathering around the camp fire and chatting with everyone, our stay could not have been better. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is visiting the area!.

Such a hidden gem! It has such a cute hangout spot right next to the river with a fire pit and free s’mores!! It’s obviously not a 5 star hotel but the place is clean and well taken care of. They’re obviously actively trying to make the place even cuter. The rooms are old but everything that counts is there. King beds, soft sheets, great water pressure, mini fridges and microwaves! They have TV’s and a bunch of DVDs to watch movies. If you want a great priced, clean/cute getaway this is the place!

An amazing chance find.My boyfriend and I struggled to find an affordable place to stay between Yellowstone and Colorado after our trip. This place was incredibly accommodating (even with our huge uhaul and two dogs) which was such a relief after somewhat of a struggle thus far on our cross country move. From the movies, nightly s’mores and riverside patio to the candies and teddy bears it is clear that the owners and staff pour their hearts into this place.Highly recommend to anybody passing through, this is the most adorable mom and pop inn we have ever stayed at.

We stayed at the Black Bear Inn in June 2021 while visiting Grand Tetons and the Wind valley. We were surprised at the difference between reviews online and the experience we had, so maybe we had an older room or arrived at the beginning of the season while rooms were being refurbished? The main issues;- Our room smelt musty and was in generally poor condition. Flaking paintwork, stained bath-tub, stains (coffee? Blood?) on the bathroom door and very little storage- No air conditioning (fine), a broken fan and when we asked for ice, the motel’s machine was broken so none was available- Bedding smelt musty and mattresses were obviously old and uneven- the motel parking lot and surrounding area is run down with a lot of random junk lying aroundOn a positive note;- Electric car charging station was very useful- Staff we’re friendly and welcoming- the Inn is close enough to restaurants to walk

The Black Bear Inn is a fantastic place to stay in the Tetons area! It's a cozy place with fantastic staff. The evening s'mores we're a nice touch and provided a great place to chat with other travelers. It's also in a great location to access Dubois and you can walk nearly everywhere. The parking lot is loose gravel, so if you ride a motorcycle (like we did), you can park near the office which has asphalt. Overall, 11/10, would stay here again!

Great service. My son and I stayed one night, they were very nice family people. Front desk recommended the Rodeo in town and it ended up being the highlight of our Yellowstone trip, then when we came back around 10:30p.m they made a point to come out with smores, restart the fire and entertain us with stories. Hope to get back again some day, my 12yr old son and I really enjoyed our stay!

We stayed at the Black Bear Inn in July 2014 and we still remember our time there fondly. The owners were away due to a family health situation and left their son to run the inn. He, along with two other very capable young people, took very good care of our every need. This is a no-frills inn, but we felt very welcome and loved the location. Cable TV was not offered, but the office had plenty of DVDs and videos to watch. The bed was comfortable and room was very clean. Our favorite part of the stay was the bonfire/s'more get together by the river after dark. Those staying at the inn all gathered there for their nightly event. The Black Bear Inn is centrally located on the main drag near many fine restaurants. If you're interested in a neat experience, this is the place to stay.

We stayed at Black Bear inn this summer and were very pleased with everything that this cute little spot had to offer! Great location and Liz (owner) was so extremely friendly, kind and inviting! Our rooms were clean, and the bathroom as well. We look forward to our next stay!

If you haven't already booked here, just do it. Coziest little place. Very clean, good size for a couple (at least the room we were in - also saw families here). They have wifi and a TON of movies to rent out, all at reasonable prices. And the smores is just the cherry on top.
