I will never take another pet to this Clinic! I had to have my dog euthanized February 21, 2023. When you have a pet euthanized, you are supposed to get a ceramic paw print of your pet I was told they lost it. I need to backtrack a little bit . Nobody from the clinic reached out to me to let me know her cremation was done . After two weeks of no word, I called the Park Falls office. They had no idea where Nalas remains were. They contacted the Phillips office to ask if the cremation was done and, if so, where was she. Turns out she was at the Park Falls office . I went to go pick up her remains and one of the workers came up front holding Nala’s remains, laughing!! Something funny must’ve happened in the back, and she was still laughing about whatever it was when she came out. She had this box in her hand and said here’s Nala…. Mind you the last time I saw Nala I was holding her, singing her, her favorite song as she was being euthanized. From holding the actual animal, to be being handed a box saying that’s your pet was heartbreaking. After the utilization was done, Linda told me that I would be receiving Nala‘s paw print from a mold they make to make a very long story short, I made many calls during the weeks past asking for her paw, print . Between the Park Falls and Phillips offices, I would be told I would receive a call back from someone. Several times that didn’t happen I texted Lynda asking about Nalas paw print as well. She told me herself they lost it!!!!!!! I told her if a mistake was made on their part and they didn’t make one just to tell me. She said they definitely did make one, but they can’t find it. She said it was in her house somewhere.. Nala was euthanized February 21, 2023. It is September 26, 2023 and still no paw print..

I was able to get an appointment at North Country Veterinary Clinic fast. My dog was examined thoroughly, and the Verterinary went over the results in detail with me. All personnel was courteous and helpful. Usually my dog is not comfortable at a clinic, but he seemed fine at this one.

Our family’s experience with North Country Veterinary Clinic has been outstanding through the years We have dogs and a cat. Our dogs have always received excellent care and the vets have saved the dogs lives several times. We use the Pet Resort and our dogs received excellent care during their stays. Recently I took my cat in due to a concern related to her teeth. She was diagnosed with a reabsorption issue which required extraction of many of her teeth. The clinic and Dr Ludwig did a fantastic job with my cat. My cat is happy again.

My experience with north county vet clinic was only one day, but it was one of the hardest days in a pet owners life. We were up in Springstead area when we realized our 4 year old dog Bo was worse than just under the weather. In the matter of hours, we were discovered he had untreatable masses on his stomach.Dr. Lynda Ludwig was straight forward but compassionate. She was fully booked the rest of the day, but told us she would stay after hours at another site so we could take Bo and have four more hours with him out in nature. We were able to say goodbye and give him the last of our love. Writing this months later, I can't describe how much that time meant to us.NCVC even donated to the University of Wisconsin in his name after by a letter we received from the university. While I hope no-one reading this ever find themselves in this situation, this clinic helped in our worst time with the best we could of received.

My family was visiting from out of town and our dog had an allergic reaction to something. An hour and a half before closing they squeezed us in. Super customer service and care for our Peanut. We are so appreciative! Definitely 5 stars!!

The 1 star is specifically for Dr Ludwig. Other doctors there and the staff have been great. Dr Ludwig is emotionally detached from the animals and owners, and is extremely expensive, she runs tests without discussing it with you, offers the most expensive options before giving cheap or free things that can be done to help animals. My review is based on seeing her several times out of necessity when there wasn't anyone else, so it's not like I have had only one bad experience. Do NOT see Dr Ludwig unless you have thousands at your disposal, and if she suggests surgery, I highly, HIGHLY recommend getting a second opinion. It's all about that green, and she'll run up those charges, even if your animal doesn't actually need surgery!! 🤬 She comes across as very kind, and I understand people do their jobs to be paid, but doing unnecessary things to get more money from people who are ignorant on animal stuff like this is plain evil. This is a financially struggling area, we love our animals and will do what it takes to help, and she knows this and takes advantage of it. Like I said, other vets who have worked there have been great though, for other vets and the staff, here are your 5 glitter stars🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 and recommend the other vets there, they do what's best for the animal, very nice to them, and give realistically affordable options that help. It IS Dr Ludwigs business, so the staff are going to say what she wants them to say in regards to money, someone in the reviews mentioned they wanted a down payment, this is absolutely true and something I've experienced as well. If you don't have the money to the side to buy a used car, you won't be able to regularly afford Dr Ludwig for your animals.

First let me say, I have been a pet professional for over 20 years and have worked with more than a dozzen veterinarians in Wisconsin for both my clients and my personal animals. Today I had my first personal life threatening vet emergency and had to rush my dog to NCVC.North Country Vet Clinic was going to be our new vet as we just moved back to northern Wisconsin, but I ended up there two months early of my planned first visit with a dying dog.The staff at NCVC were outstanding, period. They dropped what they were doing to help and save my dog's life. They were caring, considerate of my emotional state, and treated my dog with appropriate care. They explained each action they took, kept me informed, and left me with the impression I would gladly recommend this business to anyone needing vet care at anytime. Also, after proving care for hundreds of other people's dogs I understand better than most exactly how precious our pets are to us. Unfortunately, when a tragedy strikes, we as humans lash out and need to blame others as most Yelp users seem to be so very good at doing. My business had negative Yelp reviews from people that had never met me, never used my services, and some that were just angry and needed to vent. If NCVC had not been able to save my dog today, I would have still given them a 5 star review. They also know more about pet husbandry and living with pets in northern Wisconsin than the Madison vets had never learned about or shared with me. I feel my dog will be in good hands going forward. Thank you.

My puppy, Kali, has never been neglected for care with this clinic. All staff treated my pup with the highest care n best service to her health. I read through these one star reviews. Any, if not ALL, vet clinics require upfront payment. Speaking for driving over the road I would know personally to have cash up front or you're going to sit with no help. It's pretty simple, have a pet, child, or loved one...better have the means of getting them seen. Maybe, the Lord's just blessed me with a good job. Perhaps overcoming financial burdens requires hard work. My total cost for this puppy at 17 weeks old is approximately $1600 with the stress fracture and all shots. Considering cost of other regions of the country, this clinics rates are by far fair in billing. Try $3000 in PA or VA just to be seen walking thru door. This clinic is a blessing to say the least. And as for payments made by arrangements, this Doctor absolutely worked with me and paid via debit card one week later based on good judgement of the $100. So for those who believe they've been treated awful and rate a star or less even...i bid you good luck calling around and get treated better than these professionals. Huge thanks from my family n Kali, for the outstanding work they do daily for our community!

Brought my dog in cuz his paw was bad. They said they would look at it. Then thay said his ears needed cleaning. I said sure well I got him back and they charged me over 300$ they did nothing. Got him back home and his paw started bleeding I call the emergency number no answer. They call back two hours later so. PLEASE PEOPLE don't bring your dogs there if you care for your pets. It's not safe. My kid (dog) bleed for over 9 hours he passed out. But I did get the bleeding to stop he came back to life and is doing good.

My dog needed hip surgery. I was recommended to come here by a Vet Tech. The Vet Dr. was discerning of what was needed and what was not. I had gotten an X-ray done on her from a place closer to my home. The Dr at North Country did not require his own imaging and even suggested against my original request because it would be an unnecessary expense. He was thorough in his exam and had the X-ray from the other location. The wound where they had to go in was closed well and was clean. The staff and Dr. were kind to Penny. They kept her overnight to monitor her and followed up a few days later by phone to see how she was doing.

After moving from Southern Wisconsin a few years ago with our pets, we were very pleased to find such an impressive Vet clinic in the Northwoods. Our lab was able to recover after knee surgery using the water treadmill and laser therapy provide by North Country. Dr. Ludwig took over where our previous vet left off providing seamless care for our pets. We are so thankful for the amazing caring staff and that we have such a wonderful clinic so close to home! Keep up the great work!

My 2 year old bird dog ingested something while we were grouse hunting near Park Falls. He was failing quickly and lost his ability to walk. I called North Country Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Ludwig was still at her office even though it was past the normal hours. She started 3 IV's and saved him. I know he would not have lived much longer had I not been able to get him there. No doubt she saved his life.

If I could give a lower rating I would. The death of a beloved pet is tough enough. But after hours and hours of testing, a completely misread ultrasound, being told it's okay to take my pet home because she'll be fine over night, the list goes on and on ....the death stings a lot worse. We were misguided. And our baby was critically ill and we wasted precious time here. The wrong patients results were even shared in the doctors error trying to figure out a treatment plan. Dissatisfaction doesn't even begin to cover our experience. A full refund for the lack of care should honestly be demanded. Although we would probably just be transferred back and forth on the phones before we would get anyone to speak to us.

Professional service, friendly staff. Got our dog an appointment very quickly and ran tests to get immediate results. They followed up the next day to see if there were any changes to his health. I highly recommend their veterinary practice. Dr. Mike Riggle gave us a good understanding of our dog's condition.

Second time taking my animals to this vet. First time before getting my dog neutered I was quoted 260... Was 343$ with a nail trim I wasn't told about and the surgery was totally fine but I was way over charged and quoted. Let it slide. Called yesterday to have my kitten first appointment. Was quoted $120. Told them I didn't want to blood draw nor the nail trim. And we didn't do any vaccinations.... $175!!! I was also charged for a blood draw and nail trim... Disgusting business ethics. The front desk shouldn't be answering and giving quotes if she is not informed. Not just once. Will not be returning here.

I was visiting from out of town and had an emergency with my dog. I called and they were able to get her in for treatment right away. Everyone was very helpful, caring and friendly. They were able to answer questions on off hours and called to check on my dogs recovery. Very pleased and thankful for all their help.

I remembered needing a vet visit in the middle of the night with someone willing to take payments..it prooved how much they cared for our fur babies. Just called for a friend and they said ''Wont look at the dog until you have at least 600 down payment first " wth? Who has 600 laying around? Its called an emergency for a reason.

Pets are unpredictable. My cats love wandering around outside but sometimes the wild bites back. You never plan on them getting into a fight with a rabbit or something bigger than them but it happened. NCVC was always awesome with getting my babies in on short notice and the staff is very friendly.

It is more about the money than your pet. Always finding additional charges for some reason. I had an incident with them, I had to call the police. I will being taking my puppy to another vet for a 2nd opinion and will post an update.

This place must be in debt that they will find anyway to get as much money out of your pocket. I've given them many chances and I they continued to disappoint. I feel they will even do unnecessary things to up the bill. I will never go back there.
