Very friendly, knowledgeable staff, and awesome owners! The campsites were clean and easy to find. St. Croix river is clean and clear water with lots of wildlife and sites to see. Highly recommend calling them and planning a trip of your own. You will not regret it!

Love this place, We have used them for kayak trips the past 5 years and they are always willing to accomodate our custom trips. They are a huge help.. we can leave our vehicles at there camp ground and dont need to worry about leaving vehicles at public launches and landings.

This is my 2nd year planning a trip down the St. Croix with these guys (my group has been using them for 8 or 9 years now). They are very easy to work with and accommodating. You can rent canoes and kayaks there and they offer a shuttle/pick up service for your rentals (as well as personal canoes/kayaks). Their shop is nice with a lot of different offerings, a restroom, firewood, cupholders, etc. If you're planning a day or weekend trip down the Croix in the area - you'd be silly not to give Wild River Outfitters a call!

Great location, right around the corner from the Governor Knowles State Forest and the St Croix campground. The owners of WRO are really nice people. Very accommodating, on one of my float trips a very strong head wind turned my last 2 hours into a hard paddle. Being late at the take out was totally understood. The business has a lock box at the take out point with a walkie talkie inside to let them know you have finished. I rented a canoe, did some floating and fishing. The St Croix river is an amazing fishery....amazing!!!On the ride out to the drop off points, the owner always had info to share about the river, the migrating birds...etc. For me, knowing what side channels to avoid, where deeper holes are located and any other river info I can get is super helpful and usually translates into fishing areas I might have floated right on by. Totally will use these folks again.

Our river trip was fantastic, but everything else was not up to our expectations. We paid $130 for them to drop our car off at the agreed takeout point. Our car was not there when we got off the river three days later. Luckily we picked a landing spot with reception, as many of them do not. After our trip we had paid $10 to use the showers. They never informed us that it had no hot water. The water was cold as Ice. If we would have known, we would have opted out of the shower and just jumped into the river.

I camped, shopped and did a moonlit paddle here. Beth is an incredible host who guided our crew down the St Croix River. Some of us were novices and others were experienced and Beth managed to somehow make it all work. The experience and scenery was incredible, staff was friendly, the store is amazing and all of our needs were met. I’d give more stars if I could.

Such amazing staff, always friendly and helpful. When they say you outfitters, they mean it! We didn't have to bring anything! They have you covered for the whole trip, from can coolers, coolers, ice packs, life jackets, safe water boxes for your cell phones, they had it! Such a beautiful stretch on the St. Coix River. We will be back for sure!

Awesome service, friendly staff! They were super accommodating with shuttle service when we needed to change our river plans last minute. They were very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions I had. Only issue was that I was quoted $39.00 for about a 12 mile shuttle service (they drove my car from the put in to the take out). When it came time to pay they told me it was an extra $10.00 per additional person in my car, which adds up real quick when you've got a carload of people! And it doesn't make sense to me why they would charge extra per passenger when they are just driving my personal vehicle from one spot to another. It's the same exact task where regardless of how many people were in my car

We used wild river outfitters for our shuttle to Nelson landing when paddling and fishing the St.Croix river. They were very friendly, accommodating, and informative. The price for the shuttle was reasonable and they didn't have a problem with transporting our dog either (kudos to you guys on that one!!!). I would definitely use them again!

Outstanding service. The couple who runs this business is pleasant, knowledgeable, and generous with their time. Our trip down the river was beautiful. We camped nearby, and they even let our family use the shower onsite for free the following day.

What a great place to visit. The St. Croix river and Wild River Outfitters. They make you feel important and answered all my questions without making Me feel stupid. They even let me sit in the front passenger seat. If you want a place that puts you first then look no further fella you found it.

Relaxed, accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable people. Wild River offers to shuttle you on your own car, park it at their place and then drop your car off right before you get there. I was a little hesitant of giving a stranger my car but they show me that they care with their actions. When I arrive at the landing by kayak by car was there. Parked on the shade and they even put my silver sun shade up to keep the car cool. Those little details matter to me. Of course they also provided great advise on fishing sites, routes and camp sites. All around great people.

The post below lambasting this wonderful local business is ridiculous.I suspect that the writer was nothing more than a drive-past...and has most likely never been inside the store. I have been visiting this business since 1973. The current owners are two of the sweetest people you will ever want to know.They will bend over backwards for a customer. If there were five more stars I would award each and every one of them!

If you haven't been, the Upper St. Croix is amazing. It is my favorite destination within 2 hours of the Twin Cities. You feel like you are in the wilderness, and you will see wildlife, raptors, and very few people. Multiple day trips further up the river are a must for the full experience. Be sure to check on the river level before you book, it can vary a lot and low water will mean you are getting out of your canoe from time to time (not a deal breaker, but annoying). This outfitter does a good job with their equipment, the price is very reasonable and they are responsive in their pick-ups. Their little campground is nothing special, but they do have hot showers for clean up after a long trip. It's a wild destination, and a family-owned and operated business (not Disney World), so you should expect a few wrinkles, but we have had an excellent experience each time we have gone (4 multi day trips). Also check out nearby Crex Meadows for excellent birdwatching.

A very cool place to plan your next adventure!They have canoes, kayaks and shuttle vans for pick up and drop off.Want to bring your own canoe or kayak?? No problem! They will haul and shuttle your toys for a small fee!Incase you forget snacks or drinks; they have that too!

It's very expensive, one conoe leaked from a patched hole, one conoe the top edging was broke and ripped a paddler's arm open.. complete confusion from just trying to rent the already reserved conoes... Then at the pick up, the little boy gets out yawning!!! And the men that were with had to load the conoes..( very heavy) up on the high carriers!! We had to carry the conoes up a big hill to the flat land as the driver couldn't back up the trailer! We are all over 60! Then on the way back to the cars the kid gets lost! We are from the area and what should have been a 8 minute drive turned into 1/2 hour!! Never again!

We went here to do our Canoe trip. They were very awesome people and were very helpful. The equipment is obviously pretty used but we had absolutely no issues with it. After our trip was done they went to go pick us up promptly. Great experience.

They were extremely polite over the phone when making reservations, I had requested that we would need our own shuttle due to the number of people and gear were bringing due to an extended trip. I was told not a problem. Arrived and we were forced into a shuttle that was carrying a larger group also, had to stack gear on our laps. When arriving at our put in spot, driver rushed us out in a panic and we forgot 2 expensive poles in the process, we noticed after about 10 min on the water and called the outfitter, was told they would "look into it". We spent about a week on the water and when we got to out put out location and called for pick-up, we were greeted with a long lecture from the owner, about how we were drinking in the shuttle , not true only 9am in the morning, I guess driver doesn't know difference between monster and a tall boy. The lecture went on for about 15 min. when I asked where the fishing poles are he told me that I was lucky he didn't call the sheriff, because I was obviously drunk, Hahahah, once again about 10am. Needless to say if there are other options for your canoe or shuttle options I would recommend to avoid this place. .

Awful. Terrible service!That sign they have out front just shows what kind of people they are. Gluten free conoes? That's awful and rude to people who cannot eat gluten for medical reasons. They wouldn't put "sugar free canoes" and be rude to people with diabetes or cannot eat sugar. If I could give zero stars, I would. Truly terrible people and horrific service.

For 3 people the price was only $70. We took a 5 hr trip down the river, starting at Fox landing. It was awesome! Definitely plan on going again.

Worth noting... this section of the St Croix is a great paddle. That said, Wild River Outfitters fits the bill to provide the means and equipment to get you on the water. This is a Ma and Pa shop, run by family that live on site. They will take care of you... you just have to let them. Come early, be polite, and slow down... Don't be a .... just relax and they will get you taken care of, is all I am sayin' .
