I love historic places. Not to mention this drive in has the best food! The cheese curds were the best I've ever had! Not those gross frozen ones. My blueberry malt was amazing. The server we had was super friendly. Going back real soon.

A friend recommended Gillies to us, we had never been there. We absolutely LOVE the old-time drive up diner feel. The staff is so nice and the food is absolutely delicious! And let's not forget to talk about the prices. While everything else has seemed to sky rocket and become unaffordable, we are still able to afford Gillies generous prices and have a nice family outting and meal without breaking the bank. Gillies also has the most amazing ice cream! I will not willing eat ice cream anywhere else besides Gillies. If you have not tried it, we highly HIGHLY recommend that you do! This has become my family's favorite place.

Happened upon this place when we were lost in town…it was a visit meant to be because this place is amazing! Ordered a grilled cheese, it was comforting, ordered a peanut butter crumble, thrillingly delicious, and last but certainly never least the gille cookie, two chocolate chip cookies sandwiching vanilla custard, it changed my life.This is certainly a place I’ll remember when I think back to my time in Wisconsin. Service is spot on and it’s just an all around place you MUST go to!

Favorite local hamgout with good food and plenty of park bench seating or spots to park and dine. Quick service and his ice cream. Perfect spot to bring the kids and let them run around a bit while dining.

My kids used to live in FDL with my ex so when my current wife and I would be in that area we liked to stop here for a burger and malt. I recently took my daughter back to visit some old friends so we decided to stop for dinner. The food was good and I treated myself to a sundae as well which was also very good. Service was excellent. The parking lot is a little on the small side so just be careful if it's busy.

Gilles is a FDL gem!! Ice cream, fries, burgers... it’s all delicious! The Gilles ice cream cookie sandwiches are the best thing ever! It’s a cute drive-in with excellent food and especially ice cream!

Fun fast food. Our car hop Alexis was fantastic. She was friendly, professional and very helpful. We just came through for the air show and will definitely be back. My kids are so picky and they loved it. Probably be back tomorrow. ALEXIS THANK YOU. Kids only 3 and ate all that.

Great service, Old time car hops. Best malts I've had in a long time. Anyone from northwest side of Chicago, if you remember the Buffalo, Gilles malts are on the same level.

Food was amazing. Went there a few times with the boss for lunch. Always a wonderful ordering experience and the food comes out in a manageable time. I would recommend this place to allot of my friend and will most definitely come here again when I’m in town

Okay food and service. Don't bother getting a large fry because it doesn't have any more fries in it than the regular size. The last time we were here, the regular fries were like a small from McDonald's. The cheese curds are nothing special.When cleaning the outside tables, they only clean spots on the table that look dirty or need cleaning instead of the whole thing.If you like the nostalgia of a drive in, it's the place to go but that's about it.

Great to experience an old school drive-in burger shop. We looked at the Milwaukee menu so we had to adjust our plans, but it all worked out. Their custard was so rich and creamy, it’s a must try if you’re there. The custard cookie sandwich was hard and hard to bite through, so we broke pieces off and scooped up the custard. The burgers and sandwiches were average sized portions, but their buns were soft and flavorful which I think complemented everyone’s food. We only ordered one serving of large fries, but we after we got them we were tempted to order more. All in all Gilles is worth the trip and we will come back for more of their custard and food.

It is fun to visit and grab ice cream with the family. Food is decent and it has a classic drive-in diner feel. If you're looking for a relaxing place to grab food or dessert then I would recommend stopping by and sitting outside on the picnic tables.Parking: It's a drive-in diner. So it's focused around parking and eating in your car or outside on a picnic table.Kid-friendliness: It's focused around families so kids and adults can both enjoy the visit.Wheelchair accessibility: Technically you don't need to have wheelchair accessibility because you don't have to leave your car.

2 wheel ride from Slinger on Thursday for a choc. custard cone. Was it the ride up or the double cone itself? I think a little of both! Outstanding service. Forgot how quickly custard melts. Excellent experience and will definitely be back!

I’m new to the area and found this place by accident. I like finding and supporting local non chain restaurants. I’ll start by saying the staff and service were great; super friendly and fast! I didn’t think the initial $5 for a double cheeseburger and $1.25 to add bacon was to bad… however when I got my total bill after the other add on ingredients and large fry I was a bit shocked! Just under $13 for a burger and fry with no drink?! I wasn’t given a receipt so I don’t know what I was actually charged for. The to-go bag was so light I looked to see if all my food was there. More disappointment when I got home to eat it. Small portion for the cost, Burger was very basic and bland; really no taste at all. The fries were really good but the portion was small for a Large order. I’d hate to see what a small order looks like. I really was hoping for so much more and really wanted to like the place. I’d have to say that A&W and Culver’s, would be the closest comparable places as for price of meal -they’re both actually cheaper after the add on costs for additional ingredients at Gilles- but by far better places to eat for taste and portion. It’s unfortunate…

We have been coming to this place ever since we moved to Fond du Lac 13 years ago… We are there on average at least half a dozen times during the season. It would be nice if I could just get what I ordered. I asked for a large chocolate malted milkshake… Got a vanilla milkshake with a little chocolate syrup in it… Ordered a large fries… Got half a gallon of salt with my fries… Ordered a double cheeseburger with mustard and onions… No mustard. Attention to details would help.

I really want to love this place! I have been coming here for 39 years, 3rd generation! I freaked when they came out with Mac & cheese (my fav), then to add a scoop of girlie burger on it was amazing! Now this year, the Mac & cheese tastes...sour. the noodles are more mushy...it's not the same! Did you guys cheapen with everyone else with inflation? $40 for 2 burgers, fries and 2 sides of Mac is a lot for a lesser quality meal! I'm so sad this is happening to all of our local favorites!

Staff is SO friendly, drive up is fun to experience and sitting at a table is also cool when the weather is nice! Tip well! Because these ladies are out and about in the sun on VERY hot days, or buy them a water ($2.00) for them to drink when they can! Beware of wasps/hornets in the summer/spring though, that good food drives them to you!The root beer shake is AMAZING and their cheese curds are better than Culver's (admittedly a little oily). I have plans to try their grasshopper shake next!My only ick is the gilledog, they use their sloppy Joe meat for it and it's lacking. The hotdog alone is great! The issue is that they order the hotdog as so: bun/sloppy Joe meat/hotdog/ kraft cheeseIdeally it would go bun, hotdog, sloppy Joe(or chilli), shredded cheeseThe sloppy Joe meat in the hotdog taste bland, it has some onion and some bell pepper but it's just not enough flavor to mix with the hotdog (hot dogs I believe are beef, not pork)Their Burgers are GREATIce cream is GREATService is GREATJust don't get the gilledog if you're expecting a chilli dog! They are not the same!
