Stayed at The Shore Club for the first time to celebrate my 10th wedding anniversary with my husband. We were so excited and looked forward to our stay. When we arrived we immediately thought the grounds were beautiful. It certainly has a historic charm to it but with modern touches. Staff was friendly and welcomed us with a beverage amenity bag which was so kind and wished us a happy anniversary. Our stay was relaxing and quiet! The room had a comfortable bed and beautiful courtyard view. The rainfall shower was a major plus. We even had the pool to ourselves for a while which was wonderful. We had a nice stay but there's definitely some things we wish we would have known before booking, so here are some truth bombs...1. The parking is rough. Even though they have a handicap spot, it's a long way from the entrance for the guest rooms. There is also no elevator.2. We stayed on a Friday night and the welcome sheet said The Social was open for Friday Night Jazz. It wasn't. In fact, nothing was open. There was no on-site food available, no fire pit going, etc. Online it says there is a hot tub - there is, but it's located outdoors and wasn't even open during our stay. We were a little disappointed in that as it was the one thing we wanted.3. The vending machines were out of service/unplugged. There was zero access to snacks or extra drinks unless you went off-site. Paired with the amount of walking and limited parking, it wasn't worth leaving for the extras.4. There's no guest directory in the rooms, only a visitor guide. It would have been nice to know more about the property (pool hours, knowing to bring your own pool towels, etc.) you're kind of left in the dark when you arrive. Yes, they have a Digital Concierge text service but it feels bothersome to ask basic questions that could be presented up front.5. There was poor communication about breakfast options. No signage or info anywhere. We found out at check out there were to go breakfast bags available. Nobody told us this at check in and it's not posted. We ended up going off site for a brunch but given the lack of access to snacks after dinner the night before, this would have been a nice option to know about.Overall, beautiful property, the owners did a great job in the design portion of the hotel. Improvements could just definitely be made in terms of transparency and communication for guests.Walkability: There is a lot of walking involved when visiting this property whether it be from the parking area to your room or wanting to go elsewhere.

Oh my gosh. We booked this place for a weekend overnight stay, received confirmation. We showed up and it's like a zombie apocalypse has occurred in this place. There was not one soul in the whole property. We walked up and down and around their lobby building, we even went down to the beach. Not a single soul and not hard to believe that it could possibly be haunted. It's pretty creepy. So anyway, they posted an emergency number to call, we called several times, left numerous voice-mail messages- no response. It's the strangest thing. So yeah, don not book this place.

My family just returned from a wonderful short getaway to the Shore Club! We felt welcomed from the very start. The sweet women that worked at the front desk (I wish I remembered her name!) was beyond helpful and attentive. She noticed that our daughter is visually impaired and immediately offered us a room on the first floor to accommodate her. The room was clean and cozy with a nice sized balcony that we enjoyed our breakfast on in the mornings. We used the digital concierge to request a roll away bed that arrived at our room within minutes!! The digital concierge was so convenient and their response to was very fast, it was a nice service to have. The grounds are beautiful and there were consistently employees out maintaining them and cleaning the public spaces. My husband a son rented paddle boards one afternoon while my daughter and I continued to enjoy the pool, I loved the proximity of the pool to the lake and being able to watch them while we swam. The service and live music at the tiki bar were great. I really can’t say enough about how kind and friendly every employee we encountered was! I can’t wait to bring my family back next summer!

My sister and I stayed here about a month ago. I would not go back. Knowing how nice and quaint Elkart Lake is...this hotel did not fit. We left in the middle of the night on our second night there due to a disgusting room and uncomfortable beds. We just didn't want to be there anymore. Our room was not up to par that the website photos suggest. I know it was off season but our room did not look like it was cleaned in months. Dusty, spider webs in the corners, etc.The beds were not comfortable, starchy hard sheets on top of no mattress pad to see the brown and stained mattress. Our sink barely let water go down.I am fine with a rug being in a hotel room but then it needs to be kept up. The rug was sooo disgusting, I couldn't even walk on it. Photo attached of what a rag and water and a swipe on the rug looked like.I think there is such potential but everything inside and out looked soo run down. What a nice pool area and game room that is not even being utilized.I love Elkart Lake, I hope the Shore Club can find an opportunity for some turn around as it would be a great place!

The husband and I had such a great time this past weekend. The room, the food, the drinks, the staff and the owners were all great! You won't regret your stay! I have nothing bad to say - from the moment checked in with Liza to the moment I checked out, I felt like family... and Chef Abbi's food is finger licking good whether you order at the Tiki Bar, the Theatre, or The Social - yes, I ordered from all 3 of them and not one bad item of food was served. Can't wait to go again and take my kids as they would definitely enjoy all the lake activities they offer.

DO NOT GO HERE! Terrible service if you can even get any. Front desk is left unattended after 8??? Never ever have I experienced this. We arrived, some random guy gave us a key to the WRONG room. We booked a double queen on first floor because I’m handicapped. We were given a room on the second floor, all stairs. One very small bed. The window coverings were cheap and didn’t even fit. Tow windows were left uncovered. No fridge, no coffee maker, no microwave and the tv was the six of a computer monitor. There was a shared thermostat and it either was turned off by another guest or didn’t work because it was freezing in the morning and of course there were NO extra blankets. Will definitely never stay here again!!!!! We should’ve been given a refund!Nearby activities: Good location

The hotel was terrible, but some of the amenities are nice. First, the hotel rooms are NOT as pictured. The rooms are dark, uninviting, smell musty and dank, and have the cheapest furniture possible. Honestly, it felt more like I was staying in a room in someone's basement rather than a lakeside resort hotel.Second, the parking situation is a joke. The whole lot nearest the hotel is blocked off/for condo residents only.Third, the outdoor amenities, like the private beach, tiki bar, outdoor pool, and restaurant were all great. The indoor amenities, however, were outdated and a joke. The indoor pool was dirty and no towels, the change machine in the game room didn't work and it was unbearably hot in there (no A/C), and the exercise room was closed the entire time we were there. The hotel didn't have any information, even like hours or contact information, for the amenities. The lobby has very limited hours. Need something after 8:00 PM, you're out of luck. They also have live music and events sometimes, but there was no schedule to be found for this. Finally, I had asked for an accessible room because one person in my group is disabled. The hotel room was accessible, but the hotel, pool, etcetera is not. A disabled person wouldn't be able to access the majority of the amenities.Overall, this place has potential, but it seems like the bare minimum is being done with the management and upkeep of the place. There are much nicer places to stay with the same amenities that are within the same price range.Rooms: The rooms are NOT as pictured. The rooms are dark, uninviting, smell musty and dank, and have the cheapest furniture possible.

The worst experience. My fiancé and I flew all the way from Seattle, WA to stay here and tour as a potential wedding venue. I spoke with the wedding coordinator, Tanya, about a month before. Leading up to our visit, they said Tanya had another event and the owner would show us the property. When we showed up to our scheduled appointment, no one was around to show us the venue. They told us the owner was on his way up from Chicago (a 2+ hour drive). We were disappointed they couldn’t show us at the scheduled time, but we agreed to come back later that day. Once again, no one showed up. The owner finally made his way inside after being another 20 minutes late for our already re-scheduled appointment, and told us he needed 5 more minutes. Needless to say, we did not go further with the venue tour as we could not trust an establishment like this to have it together on our wedding day, especially when they couldn’t even hold an appointment with us.They knew we travelled all the way from Seattle to see this venue. When I asked for a reimbursement on the room, they said they would process one. I was going to wait to write this bad review to see if they would keep their word and make it right, but of course, we didn’t receive any reimbursement as promised. This happened 3 months ago, I called to remind them, and still nothing.Other notes:Accommodation overall was dirty.

Since this has been sold to Ascend and now under new ownership, the place is really challenging to stay at. There is a battle between the current condo owners of Victorian Village and the Shore Club. This creates problems with what you can access, how you can access it, where you can park, among other things. I parked in a lot that had TINY message that it was for permit only. I did have a permit, given to me by the front desk. Apparently not the right permit. I came back to my car with a huge sticker placed directly on my windshield that was hard to get off. I would NOT recommend staying here.

We did a girls weekend in Elkhart for the Sip and shop. We met Kristin and Tom in the boutique-- They were friendly and warm.We were impressed with the clothes in the boutique. The clothes were unique, good quality and reasonable. Kristin placed an order the next day for clothing where she did not have our size. ( I will definitely want to stop there again.Walkability: The resort is well maintained and in a great location to walk around and get to spend time and get the flavor of the wonderful little town.

This hotel should not have cost as much as it did. The halls are dark and very uninviting. Dark blue walls, brown trim, and dark gray carpeting. Dim LED lights illuminate it. As you go into the rooms, they appear bright but when you really pay attention, all they did was paint the walls and add vinyl flooring. Again, cheap LED lights. One hanging in the middle of the room, too low, and too bright, but not comforting color. The other two lights are similar to bed reading lights stuck to the wall on either side of beds. Two of our bulbs were out. The coffee cups in the rooms are the generic cups you can buy anywhere, not the ones that are prepackaged and sanitary. I have to wonder how many times the housekeeper assumed cups were clean and just re-stacked them. Again, to me this suggests cutting corners. We used the indoor pool one night, and there were no towels. The outdoor pool and hot tub are open till 10:30 p.m., however the hot tub water was cool. Also, pool area is not well lit.21. Also, not sure why the high room rate at this time, when NOTHING was open in town. Most restaurants didn't open until Wednesday or Thursday. I've gone to many towns off-season where they didn't shut down. Not even sure we are technically off-season yet. We paid $350.00 for one of our nights stays and not much less for the others. For a few bucks more we could have had the Osthoff.

We visited for the day with some friends who recommended it and had an absolute BLAST! It is such a beautiful spot and there is so much to explore on the property. It was the dead of winter but the plentiful fires at the beachside bar made it a great place to hang out and take in the gorgeous scenery. Eventually we wandered inside and fell in love with some authentic polka music. Even the too-cool teenagers got into it! Eventually, we were all participating, playing instruments and dancing. To top it all off, the food was amazing! It was a really, really great day and a unique Wisconsin-only experience from start to finish. Can't way to go back and spend a weekend!

What a wonderful experience. Our room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was amazing My teenagers were impressed with the room, the game room and the pool. (And it is hard to impress a teens) My dogs loved the patio off of our room. Everyone had a great time and cannot wait to return! Thanks so much for making us feel welcome and part of the Shore Club family!

What a pleasant surprise! We love this boutique hotel. Right in the center of the action in Elkhart lake - we found our new place to stay from now on. We visit several times a year and honestly tired of some of the other local establishments that charge crazy prices for mediocre. Our room was updated, clean and charming. The service was excellent. We visited the theatre on the property where there was live music and again, great service at the bar.Definitely looking to a return stay at the Shore Club! Thank you!

I've stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years. Thus is by far my favorite!!Why you ask. Well I broke my leg in November, we had to come out here for a funeral. However my mobility was still limited.I emailed and they responded back that they would take care of me..They sure did. I was given a room with easy access to the parking lot, right next to the pool so I could watch my kids swim. The shower was so accessible that it was the first decent shower I've had in months.Everyone was so accommodating and friendly. From now on when we go to Wisconsin to visit family this is where we are staying!!Plus the rooms were super clean, and had plenty of room for my family.I highly recommend staying here!

This place is amazing. From its unique offerings for each member of our family down to the staff. Top to bottom thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this resort. Elkhart Lake is a special place and The Shore Club simply brings it all together. Highly recommend bringing family and friends and enjoying a long stay. Our only regret is we didn’t stay longer. The owners are typically on site and seemingly checked in which each of their guest. It feels cozy and you feel like family. We definitely will be back.

My family and I have been coming here for 7 years and always have a great time. The lake is beautiful and clear. We rent a pontoon boat from the great lake rental staff. The town has great walkable restaurants that we love. The beach is small but nice and relaxing and private to hotel guests only. The hotel has great room/suite options for all price ranges. The only con or complaint is the pool/ Hot tub need remodeling or some work. The pool was ice cold and it was August. Its Wisconsin you gotta have that heater on and working. The hot tub is dated and the few jets it has barely work. Overall, its a great place for a relaxing and fun summer vacation. Just put a little money/work into the pool/hot tub and you got a 5 star place. See you 2021

The Shore Club was the perfect escape my family and I needed from the bustling city, traffic congestion and police sirens. This boutique hotel has an unmatched midwestern charm, and a warm, attentive staff that made us feel at home. We were there for a private event at the Cottonwood social and had a blast! I highly recommend a visit - you won't be disappointed.

Very disappointing! My room was separate from the rest of my party and located above the lobby in a building separate from the main hotel. Building did not lock at night so this was large safety concern for a single traveler. Room was extremely out of date, no outlet covers, dirty and the overhead lights did not work when I arrived. I had to adjust the fan by standing on my bed and pulling the pull chain on the fan. When voicing my concerns with staff they were very unaccommodating but worst of all, they entered my room using their own key while I was in the bathroom after they specifically stated they would text me when someone with maintenance was available to check out my lights. HUGE violation of privacy and safety! I would never recommend this hotel! Extremely disappointed for the quality of room for the high expense, canceled my reservation after the first night and booked a room at the hotel next door.

My 2 girlfriends and I stayed for a night last week and enjoyed every moment. This place was so full of charm and had a wonderful staff. The rooms were so fresh and clean and we loved our beach activities. My only complaint would be to add a mirror in the rooms. The one in bathroom was not enough. Also, can you buy a jet ski for us to rent when we come back? :)

While it may have started off on the wrong foot with a hiccup of miscommunication, this establishment really delivers.I travel for a living so it was refreshing to get treated to real hospitality in the hospitality industry. My stay was in a the standard hotel end of the resort, which was way above par across the board. Clean room, nice view, well maintained and updated.I’ll be bringing my family back in two weeks time to experience the suites, restaurant, beach and so on.Thank you to everyone involved in my stay, from the chef to the owners. Lisa was top notch and I’d go as far as saying you’re lucky to have her.Looking forward to many more stays to come.

We got married at The Shore Club and had a wonderful experience. The owners communicated with us and were quick to answer any questions we had. We live out of state and they made time for us to come for a tasting and tour that worked for our schedules and traveling. The owners were very attentive the day of the wedding and everything ran smoothly. The venue is unique and fun and our guests loved it!

Nate and I had our wedding at the Shore Club outside on the lawn August 2020. The owners and staff did a wonderful job making it a special day with everything running smoothly. We got so many compliments on the food and drinks. The food was really outstanding. The owner, Tom, spent hours cleaning up the ceremony area and making a beautiful walking path/aisle within the trees on the property. I can't wait to get our wedding pictures back. The property grounds with trees, plants, and flowers everywhere needs minimal decorations.

When we arrived the hallways smelt very weird and just looked very dirty. We got to our room when we entered and at first the room looked very promising! Looked nice and updated…. Well the floors were insanely greasy?? Like they poured some kind of cleaner on it and never cleaned it up. Felt disgusting. But we were like whatever we can deal. Then we tried to turn on the tv and they have two different remotes, no instructions on which to use or how to turn on?? Both remotes have a blue screen. Front desk lady came and turned the tv on for us… but she’s like oh your floor is very sticky and I’m like yeah is that normal.. she said no… and left. I went to go sit on the bed then after and nearly fell to the floor. The right side of the bed was broke! Towards the end of the bed. I looked and took a video and showed there was a bar bent.. I called the front desk and right away she said we have no maintenance. I told her I had a very tall boyfriend and asked if we will be safe to sleep on it, which she advised yea that it would be okay. Well my boyfriend and I ended up just sleeping mainly on the left side because when he got into bed he nearly fell off from it slouchy. They never sent anyone to fix it and did no follow up. For how much they charge for this place you would think they would make it a nice comfortable stay. The towels also felt hard, almost like they were used and put back up?? I also went to the game room and the games looked so filthy and old. 🤢🤢 I heard numerous other guests state their rooms were very dirty and disgusting. We felt very dirty after leaving there and we most definitely will not be back again. If we are paying that much for a room we expect better. Save your money!

Jessica K

You are definitely paying for only the location here. The plus parts are location and the bed. The hallway is dark, the flooring in our room wasn’t finished, the bathroom set up is from a 60s hotel room and the continental breakfast was non existent. The last day there were only fruit and oatmeal, no coffee any day, it was always out. You shouldn’t advertise continental breakfast if you aren’t going to properly supply it. Also our room was full of fruit flies. Also when we were on the beach we were asked if we were guests at the resort which we thought we wouldn’t be here if we weren’t? The part that bothered me was she only asked us and one other person, no one else. Kind of felt singled out. If I would have paid $100 for this room a night I wouldn’t be complaining but when you pay over $300 a night you expect a lot more than what we got.

We liked the property however they are transitioning to a different feel. I have stayed before and things were different than expected. I encourage you to confirm amenites that will be open as we discovered the indoor pool was closed for renovations and two of the dining options were closed for the season. The rooms had a nice back porch, access to a grill and a comfortable outdoor space. Next time I'll want to take more time clarifying where we are staying relative to the beach and what other room options might be. The highlight for us was renting a pontoon boat to cruise the lake.

Tom and Kristen and their staff supplied a wonderful venue for our wedding and were very friendly and helpful planning and setting up. The Shore Club has many beautiful locations for ceremonies and receptions. Their food was amazing and our guests all said wonderful things about the wedding experience. Everything was professional and transparent. The Shore Club is a wonderful venue and the rooms are nicely renovated with a chic/racer feel.
