My Dad and I had a lovely time at The Portage in the adorable town of Cable, WI. The building is a new construction with a spacious interior. The decorations are carefully curated, and they have a great patio area. They also have a stage for live bands and a comfortable bar.They were celebrating Octoberfest while we visited, and we enjoyed one of their monster pretzels with our seasonal on-tap brew.We will definitely be back next time we are in the Northwoods!!!

The Tuna Melt is a favorite but all the food is delicious. We keep coming back for the friendly feel and the music. **Summer 2023 now with breakfast!**

Very limited bar food, three entrees and two snacks. Sat brunch and sat nite music. Use qr code to see menu. Order at the bar. It was OK. Sat outside, it was lovely, they brought your food. Upscale decor.

Really fun place to hangout, they change things up pretty often which is fun because you could visit and feel like you're in a difference restaurant every time.The Spago is my favorite drink! It's basically a house marg.Prices are pretty high so if you're looking for the best bang for your buck go somewhere else, but if you're looking for a unique experience and great cocktails this is your place!

Portage has really added a lot to Cable since it opened. Having this, the pizza spot and pie shop all close together makes for a really inviting area for the town with an open, connected yard space.The indoor/outdoor setup is ideal with the fire pits, games, and music/events.Food & Beverage wise--Great beer selection. The food as others mention is limited but it's good nonetheless. They've done chips and taco days/nights and typically hit it out of the park. Tuna Melt and Green Goddess salad are also 2 solid options.Happy to have it there and support it!

I'm a local and love this place! The Tuna Melt is fabulous!!! My husband always gets the double barrel cheese burger and has never been disappointed. Live music was a great addition. They are always doing something fun. So glad warm weather has arrived, the outside seating area is the best!

A great space/layout all around. Love the patio looking onto the grass and trees. Menu is simple and delicious. Great bar w different entertainment throughout the week…incl live music. Fun, welcoming staff. We will be back for sure!

The layout is a fantastic design, makes one feel they are outside -even if they’re not. Sports? …has two big screens playing games inside, if that’s what you’re about.The outdoor seating area is extensive & well thought out. There are plenty of communal areas, but also clusters (gazebos) where a big family might have a spot that they can just be together & chill.The menu is solid, but somewhat basic. 5 main meals with 2 chip/dip options. After 8pm they offer “Lou Malnati's® Chicago Deep-dish Pizza” & also have 3 brunch items for Saturday’s 9-2pm.The bartenders were very friendly (able to manage conversation, but also attuned to all the patrons)A solid spot

We ate here 3 times because it was wonderful German food - I think we tried everything on the menu! Yum yum and yum! Had good beers and hard cider here too-this happily became our go to restaurant and right in back of it is Tilly’s pies which were a good ending to our delicious German meal!

After a long wait the Portage has finally opened (June 2021). A cozy place with a large Patio. A small menu that includes a delicious wild rice burger. No side with the burger but the price is right. They have a nice selection of beer on tap including Hamm's which I rarely see. There is a stage inside and they seem to have music every Saturday night. I'll be visiting again.

Just some constructive criticism, the fact that the exterior of your restaurant looks more like a tourist information center than a restaurant, and with the big blue tourest info sign out front, people dont know what you are. Id recommend better and brighter signage. I have asked many people about your bar and most didnt even know you were hear. Good luck

Went there last night for drinks, dinner and Tuesday night trivia. So much fun and an enjoyable as always. You definitely need to check them out when you are in Cable 🙂

Modern twist on an old dark tavern. Menu is simple, food delicious. I tried both of the appetizer chips and dip and ordered their house burger.

This is more of a bar, but has fantastic outdoor seating. The menu is limited but we'll prepared. The staff is friendly and welcoming. You will not be a stranger here.

I was so excited to show my family Portage. Unfortunately the wait staff was rude, wouldn't even acknowledge my family (even though we were the only ones there) and ended up having to walk out. Have had good experiences here in the past but will not be returning.

We were there for the O.A.R. concert and service was great. Everyone was very nice and the bar looks fantastic. Three season doors and great decor make for a fantastic experience.

The double burger was fantastic. That was offset by the weakest pours I've ever experienced on the drinks. Next time a burger with a pint of beer.
