Stopped in for ice cream and coffee. The ice cream is very good, creamy texture and rich flavors. We had chocolate and toasted coconut - was able to get two flavors in a small! My husband had the coffee and said it was good and strong. Easy walk from downtown and easy parking right in front. Nice atmosphere with cute marble topped tables for two. We'll definitely be back.Dietary restrictions: Offer some dairy free flavors.Parking: Spaces right in front.

You can get a 'flight' of ice cream. For reals. And you'll need to, because the flavors are whizbang wonderful, and change often: kerrygold brown butter pecan, lemon pound cake, blackberry pie, honey cornbread, coconut cookie. And, and, AND! Color change spoons!!! Just go, okay?Parking: Relatvely small parking area, but more parking all over.

This was such an exciting find on our evening in Shepherdstown. We saw someone walking down the street with a waffle cone and had to investigate. They have a lot of unique flavors, and some traditional. I got a Bumbleberry Pie (a mixed fruit pie put right into the ice cream maker), and my husband got Honey Lavendar Blueberry Swirl - that is probably one of the best ice cream flavors I've had anywhere! The waffle cone was so delicious, too. It was not too crunchy and had a great flavor. This was our first stop in the store and we will definitely be back!Dietary restrictions: Dairy Free options

This place is outstanding! We visited on11/21/2023 and had the house blend, hot chocolate and iced coffee. Exceeded everyone's expectations! They do have unique ice-cream but it was too early for that. The atmosphere is bright and very clean. I'd prefer a little more cozy environment that makes you want to spend more time, but each their own.I'm highly recommending and pricing is good for the quality. Seriously, this is what truly fresh coffee taste like.

This place is wonderful. I have tried the shaken espresso, the Nutella ice cream and an espresso chocolate crunch bar milkshake, all of which were amazing! The people are so friendly and even offer recommendations on flavors if you’re not sure what to get. Whatever you decide to get, you will not be disappointed! I highly recommend this place if you enjoy great coffee and ice cream served by kind people.

Our absolute favorite ice cream shop ever! The flavors are outstanding. I normally feel gross after eating ice cream but that never happens here. It's not overly sweetend or to heavy. If you haven't tried this place yet your definitely missing out. My favorite so far is the Lemon cardamom gingersnap. The toasted coconut cookie and brown sugar butter pecan one is amazing also. Can't wait to keep trying all the flavors. It's our favorite weekend treat. Don't forget to get it on a homemade cone.

Stopped in this hidden gem while hitting some state parks in VA but sleeping in Harper’s Ferry. Such a pleasant surprise to find a spot with such high quality homemade scoops. The owner served up the scoops and bragged about the town and everything it had to offer. We will be coming back to Shephardstown for a weekend this summer. The ice cream was great and the kids in the hotel weee very happy after a long day of hiking. Five stars. Spot on.

This was literally not even exaggerating the nastiest ice cream sandwich I’ve had in my whole entire life… the mint chip didn’t even have chips, tasted like toothpaste and the cookie was terrible, chips ahoy cookies were better than the ones on the sandwich. Than on top of that. They put these stupid star sprinkles that are stale and just straight nasty all over your food. I could’ve went to my school dining hall and got a better cookie sandwich than that.

I hope my experience helps anyone with a business.I visited this little ice cream place this week as I’d heard the ice cream is really good. Upon walking in, I noticed a young lady standing by the register. She simply stared at me with a deer in headlights look. She never smiled or spoke. I made my way a few steps past her to the ice cream area where a gentleman greeted me with the biggest smile and asked if he could help. I asked for a sample since this was my first time there and he respectfully said they do not do samplings. I am from a rather large city, and I am accustomed to places doing that. Organic homemade or not. I was a little surprised but understood, they are a small business and they have their reasons and it’s OK. My recommendation would be to put up a sign; that way they are not bombarded with the same sample question and the customer doesn’t feel bad about asking in the first place.I walked to the register and the young girl/lady still stared as she took my payment. No thank you no come again. No smile.I choose to go with perhaps she was star struck by my exotic beauty. Or something else. I’ll never know. The ice cream was good.

Wow. The ice cream so delicious. The hardest part will be deciding what to get. The flavors are unusual and not easy to figure out what it might taste like. They don’t give samples. At first I was frustrated, but then I realized that it would turn into a series of never ending tastings. Just trust yourself and go with flavors that you enjoy and trust that they combined them to make them even better. I did just that and couldn’t believe how delicious the flavors were. They have non-dairy options both ice cream (with coconut milk) and sorbet which I really appreciate since I most of the time do not eat dairy and don’t like sorbet. However, after biking 60 miles I opted for getting the flavors I really wanted. It is an easy bike ride from the GAP trailhead. I hope that Amy and Alex are VERY successful. They created a not-to-be-missed ice cream stop for all GAP bikers!I do suggest that they create a “flight” similar to breweries. Perhaps they had one and I didn’t notice, but I would have loved to have tried a 4-5 scoop sampler!

The guy and girl working were not very friendly. The atmosphere felt very awkward and uncomfortable. I find it weird that they brag about their color changing spoons but don’t give out samples. I went with two picky people who walked out without anything because they didn’t want to get a flavor that they potentially wouldn’t like. You would think they would offer samples especially because of all the unique flavors they offer. I played it safe with a coffee chocolate chip that was alright. Nothing special. Would choose Rockhill Creamery over them all day. Free samples, super friendly staff, and good prices!

Im an ice cream snob. Its amazing, great butterfat content with good air content mixed in so its not super dense as many super premium ice cream tends to be. I could tell tell the guy behind the coumter made it by how he responded. Hats off sir well done.

What makes Amy & Alex’s truly special isn’t the ice cream or the coffee. It is their commitment to inclusivity & the atmosphere they’ve created within their business. They offer a variety of options, ensuring there’s something for everyone, including those with dietary preferences or restrictions. Their ice cream and coffee menu is not just delicious but diverse, and the perfect ending to our four seasons book club meetings. Moreover, they’ve taken great care to ensure their establishment is accessible and accommodating for all patrons, creating a safe space for all that call Shepherdstown home. Amy & Alex’s has quickly become a well deserved cornerstone in the Shepherdstown community.Vegetarian options: Broad selection of Dairy Free ice cream & coffees!Dietary restrictions: Always an amazing selection of Gluten Free / Dairy Free coffee and ice cream options!Kid-friendliness: Super family friendly environment!Wheelchair accessibility: ADA accessible shop & bathroom!

Amy and Alex opened in May and I just tried it for the first time in July. My first visit was on a Tuesday and my second visit was the same week on a Saturday…and I might have talked myself out of going on Friday 😅***This place is a gem***Driving through the region you see a lot of “handmade” or “homemade” or “hand-dipped” ice cream joints. It is almost always Hershey’s ice cream or someone chucking commercial ice cream mix into an ice cream machine. On the contrary, Amy and Alex are ACTUALLY, REALLY, TRULY making their ice cream from scratch.Sorry, lots of feelings about this! Also sorry no photos, I’ve inhaled anything I’ve purchase from here too quickly to get a cute pic.I’ve tried the vanilla, chocolate and one of their signature flavors (vanilla with mango and passion fruit swirl). All super tasty.Their ice cream has a higher fat content which translates to a luxurious mouthfeel. From the equipment to the space and the ice cream, Amy and Alex’s attention to the technical details have resulted in high integrity products and delightful experiences every time. Looking forward to getting coffee here!Vegetarian options: Vegan / dairy free ice creamDietary restrictions: Vegan / dairy free ice creamParking: During the weekday the parking is a bit tight, I think because of the physical therapy office, but on the weekends there is plenty of parking.
