Sandstone Falls Overlook.

We went on a Saturday afternoon. It was not crowded at the overlook. There is a nice view of the river below, the island, and the falls. I didn't see anyone else post pics of the view of the island from above. I think it's beautiful. The falls are great too, of course.It's a 40 minute drive from the overlook down to the falls because of the windy road and you have to go through the town then around the other side of the river.

This was a nice fun little afternoon. Even wheel chair accessible!! Beautiful views of the river and trees. Just a nice place for all ages!

Sandstone Falls is a beautiful place to visit. The sound of the water falls seems to calm the soul. The road to the falls used to be pretty rough. We had heard the road had been paved to the parking area, so we decided to take a short motorcycle ride. Road is in great shape. Parking lot could use a little work. Drive the bike through an unseen crater (pothole for a car) hiding in the shade of the trees around the lot. Lots of people fishing and enjoying the river. Swimming, kayaking, and picnicking are all available. Worth a visit for those who live here or travelers passing through.

The overlook is a short walk from the parking lot. There was plenty of parking and a building with restrooms. A short walk down the paved walkway is the overlook. It’s a pretty view but the falls are pretty far. We were in the area so it was worth the stop. There’s a viewing area on the other side of the river which is much lower.

It's a decent overlook. You can see a section of the falls that you can't see very well from down below. However, it is a pretty limited view, relatively speaking. I would recommend, but you'll see all you need to see in a few minutes. The walk down to the main viewing area is down a short path, but take your time as it has a decent slope.

Scenic Waterfall with easy trail. Falls are not very tall but it gives the beauty of Fall & river together.Best part is you can swim in the river.There are lots of picnic tables.The whole area around it very scenic & beautiful drive.

Nice place to see Sandstone Falls from on highThis location is about 3-4 miles from the Sandstone visitor’s center off the right hand side of the road. This is an overlook from several hundred feet up and away from the actual falls. It is a good overview of the falls but not really close to them. There is a small gravel pullout with limited parking for about 3 cars. You could get out and take pictures or look from there but for those that want to get a little closer, there is a gravel walking path down about 50 feet below that leads to a large flat open area that gives a better vantage point for pictures. The view is from within a shaded forest and does not offer a great view of the falls. If you want a closer, better view of this site I would strongly recommend that you drive down to the falls viewing site on the other side of the river. It is a fair distance but worth the travel. There is also a set of restrooms right off the road next to this sight. Overall a good place to see the Sandstone falls from up high.

This overlook offers a decent view of the Sandstone Falls and is not far from the visitors center and just a short walk from the parking area. However the best view of the falls is from the west side of the river at a much lower elevation. It is a bit of a drive but well worth it.

Some of the pictures on the Google reviews are from the Sandstone Falls that are accessed on the other side of the river (an additional 30 minute ride). The overlook is well maintained and includes a restroom, but if you have time drive the extra 30 minutes to the Sandstone Falls Boardwalk.
