The views are breathtaking. The service was great. The food and drinks on-site were delicious. But the rooms need to brought up to higher standards...they are small and dated. Some electrical outlets don't work. No mini fridges to keep things cold. Just a basic place to lay your head. But the rest is outstanding. Wildlife walking amongst to grounds. Will definitely return for a golfing trip and to try the many activities the resort offers. Great fall getaway overall. Enjoyed the grounds, food and service of the staff.

Nestled right in the heart of the park. This lodge sits right on the side of a mountain that overlooks nearly the entire county. It is always clean, has a rustic feel to it, and the staff are always friendly and prompt.Rooms: The rooms are nice and well maintained. Most of the rooms have a balcony that overlooks the scenery from the mountain top.Nearby activities: Splashpark, Horseback Riding, Hiking Trails, Nature Center, Arcade, Pool, Lodge Restaurants, Playgrounds, Volleyball Courts, Mini Golf, Driving Range, Old Fire Observation Tower, and probably several things didn't even notice.

I under stand it’s the mountains and the hotel room isnt where you spend you time but it definitely could use a refresher .Now to the great stuff it’s great up here . Super friendly staff amazing views plenty of small things to do outside . Definitely worth coming back again. Tons of hiking biking horse back riding trails . Heated indoor pool.Side note come with what you need not much around for small things like real coffee creamer not the powdered stuff provided .Nearby activities: A lot of outdoor activities. More than I can think of to list .

Beautiful area, but you are unable to control the heat and air in your room. Because it is fall, AC was turned off. They apparently heat and cool with a boiler. The temperature in our room was 80 upon arrival. They brought us a fan, but the temperature did not drop below 77 all night, even with the patio door open. I complained several times and was given a $30 credit, which still hasn't shown up on my account yet. Room should have been free or next to, miserable nights rest in a beautiful place!!

Rooms weren't bad and they were clean. The halls carpet was stained and heard a barking dog for a lot longer than should have been allowed. The dinner and breakfast buffet were not all that good. Wish they would bring back table service with better food. Employees were very nice! Probably won't stay again until they change the restaurant. Great park to visit!!!

My wife had a convention here and my daughter and I tagged along. During the day we hiked and played in the natural environment, swam in the wonderfully heated pool, ate delicious meals at the dining room and enjoyed every minute of our week here.Rooms: The rooms were comfortable and newly renovated. The bathrooms were small but clean and comfortable. The view from the balcony was gorgeous.

This is a wonderful old lodge, but she needs a lot of love. Rooms are small and dated, but clean. No frig or microwave.Large old school indoor pool at 8' deep and plenty warm.Only food options available onsite were pizza, wings and cheesy breadsticks in the lounge or an $18/person dinner buffet or $12/person breafast buffet in the dining room. Was not around for lunch.Front desk staff was great to chat with during our stay.Nearby activities: Ziplines in the park. (See my review) Brand new splash pad just across the road.

The staff is all super friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful. The cabins are cozy and comfortable and clean. The only negative is that there was not a fan in the bedrooms of the cabin, and we couldn't set the AC below 70. The AC is a minor thing but I feel worth noting. Bed is comfy, if a bit noisy even just rolling over. The cabin looks small from outside but it's actually really spacious inside, with plenty of room.Fire pit is a perfect size. The bundle of wood was there waiting for us upon arrival, and they have fire starters which are also a really helpful convenience. On a clear night you can see so many stars. I wish there was a way to turn off the outside walkway light to help with star gazing, but again that is a minor thing, and definitely not something to complain about or lower the rating! The actual lodge is absolutely beautiful and there's a lot to do.Rooms: The rooms are a nice comfortable size, with windows that open (aside from one in our room which wouldn't open). The beds are comfortable. The bathroom was neat as a pin, although management might want to consider switching the soap brand left in the cabins for one that doesn't contain nuts. The kitchen is also neat as a pin, with a full sized fridge and a stove. There's a fireplace in the living room with all the necessities. The living room area has multiple options for seating and just hanging out together.Safety: Park staff is present, other cabins are close but not TOO close. All the doors have nice deadbolts. It definitely feels plenty safe

This review is towards the arcade room and the management of that.So far, I love the scenery as you walk through the hotel. It's my favorite part. The worst part for me is the prices. It's crazy how much the games in the arcade cost and almost every game is broke.. it's literally a joke to walk through there with kids. All my daughter wanted to do was play a game and instead we settled for stickers. I was so frustrated. She left heartbroken. The pool was amazing and warm. But the price for admission is ridiculous. We decided not to go to the cafe for food because the prices of the arcade and pool have us believing they are just money hungry.

The views are amazing!!! The lodge was a disappointment 😞 Dirty rooms, filthy carpets, smudged windows, cold showers, balcony with loose floor boards, broken elevator and broken pool while we were there. Splash pad was a rip off!! $15 per child to play in the concrete with sprinklers---parents pay $10 to be allowed to watch. Would not recommend a lodge stay. Park is beautiful.

We had a good time. The restaurant food was great. The front desk was so friendly. The lady running the gift shop was great. Rooms are in need of a mini frigerator. A hot tub would make a winter day great. Our room was very clean but for some reason it was so so hot in the halls and room. We never did turn the heat on even with it 32 degrees outside because it was so hot already. I mean really hot. The lodge is a nice place to visit but I don't give it a 5 because there are some things that could be better. The coffee station in the lobby has only some kind of cheap powder creamer that was not very good. There is plenty of parking. The place has a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. It's close to many overlooks and hiking trails. We do like it there.

After mixed reviews, I was concerned about choosing McKeever Lodge inside Pipestem. I had prepared my family for the worst possible experience but, surprisingly, my concerns were not warranted. Our room was clean with comfortable (soft) beds and I agree that it was old and dated but it was not horrible like others had described it. It was moist inside the room but that is normal in mountain hotels. Our AC worked great and we had a view of the gorge. In the evening, deer, raccoons and some stray cats wandered on the grounds below our room. The most amazing sight was a beautiful fox! We hiked the Lake Shore Trail and enjoyed the exercise and beauty of the woods and views of the lake. Prior to checking in we had started the day at the Sandstone Falls, I would highly suggest driving the 30 mins to experience that and the town of Hinton. We had a great lunch there!

My reason for 3 stars: There needs to be refrigerators in the room! During our stay, we always had leftovers from our meals. Unfortunately they always had to be tossed because there was nowhere to store them. We also have two young kids, and I love bringing drinks along so they’ll have something to drink when they get thirsty. Not having a fridge is a huge con for us.Also, the restaurant needs more food options! There was one night we were planning on getting pizza from the Black Bear Cafe and they said they were all out of dough! We had just ate at the restaurant two other times and there was nothing else on the menu we wanted. We ended up driving to Princeton to find restaurants there, which is rather out of the way.The walls are also very thin in the rooms. One night our room neighbors were having a party and blasting loud music and shouting at each other at 2am.Other than all that, we did enjoy our balcony room and seeing the beautiful view with deer and raccoons down below. The gift shop is also very nice. Not sure if we will stay again. May find somewhere else in the area to go or find a cabin to rent.

First of all, the McKeever Lodge is the most poorly designed "resort" I have ever been to. It is severely complicated to navigate and they offer you no map. Good luck trying to find anything. Plus most of the hallways on the upper floors are suffocatingly narrow. Second, our room was unclean. The toilet seat had been cracked in half and glued back together (poorly) instead of having been replaced. There were dead flies all over the place. Worst of all for us, our room was hot and stuffy. We tried to adjust the A/c only to find that the dial was removed completely so that you can turn on the fan but not the air conditioner. The state park itself is beautiful but I would never stay at this "resort" again.

We've stayed many times throughout the years and different seasons. Staff are always polite and it's family friendly. We got to stay in a newly renovated room which are very nice. I recommend for any occasion and they have lots of things to do.

The lodge is in a beautiful setting, where wildlife abound. You can see deer, raccoons, etc. from your balcony morning & night. The staff were very friendly, courteous, & helpful. The gift shop was well stocked with most anything you might need, not to mention lots of gift items, & was open late. The rooms were more than adequate, but being an old building, you could feel the footsteps of & hear the conversations of the room next to you. They have a pool & a work out room. You can also go horseback riding, or hiking. The prices were reasonable. The dining room wasn't very busy, but they did have a breakfast buffet which was pretty good. The elevators can get rather confusing as you'll see. The lodge is definitely a good place for families & is centrally located when it comes to the different activities. I would definitely recommend the lodge to anyone wanting a quiet, scenic place to stay.

Very comfortable rooms, friendly staff and always clean. We enjoyed our stay and some of the rooms have a beautiful view of the mountains. Have to book ahead of time usually because they stay booked up months ahead of time. Indoor pool for people who stay there and also outside guest are welcome. Covid-19 rules apply right now though. They have a restaurant on site and they have lots of other activities to do. The Tram ride is a wonderful activity to do and spectacular views. Highly recommend.

I would stay here again. Staff was very friendly, outstanding. Room was a little ran down but I didn't care. Price was about right, little high. I paid $115 (included tax and fees) for weekday off season. Signs say guests have to pay for the pool about $5 each. I think it depends on the employee attending

This is a really nice lodge. The bathroom is small, but big enough for two people, and it doesn't feel super dated or anything. The staff has been really helpful and welcoming. We booked a room "without a view" according to the website, and this is what we see out the window. Stunning!

Definitely needs updating, but the grounds are well maintained, the scenery is gorgeous and the activities throughout the park are great. They're trying, but you can imagine state parks probably don't get all the revenue they need. McKeever lodge has a nice little pizza parlor/bar with craft beer on tap (pleasantly surprised by the selection). Pizzas are good, but they only have one oven so be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes. Nice lounge areas with comfy chairs. The gift shop needed more selection though. Overall, a nice three night stay.

Very cozy and friendly. Clean rooms with comfortable beds and linens. Modestly priced with a good, laid back 60's vibe. Family friendly. There are breathtaking views everywhere you look. Lots of outdoors activities; hiking, fishing, horseback riding. Lots of common areas for sitting around visiting, reading and relaxing. One of my favorite spots for a quick weekend getaway.
