My favorite pair of black leather Thom McCann boots are at least 15 years old. The leather has remained beautiful, but the soles and heels needed replaced. They did them in a week at a price that was cheaper than a pair of junk shoes today. And they put a Vibram sole on them. They’re good for another 15 years easy. Very courteous staff and just a beautiful leather goods store! Highly recommend them!

What a great place, specifically the customer service and quality products. It is nice to know that businesses such as these are still around.My oldest piece is from 1996 (The Satchel) and it is still going strong. If you are debating any luggage, the Overland Stage Bag is a perfect weekend bag—don't worry about what goes where...stuff everything you need in one compartment and you're off!My recommendation would be to take good care of the leather from the beginning and it will last a lifetime or beyond—maybe your kids will fight for it!

I inquired how much it would be to swap some of the eyelets out on a pair of boots for speed hooks to make them easier to get on and off. The lady on the phone quoted me $10 for four pairs of speed hooks on each boot. Five days after I dropped off my boots, I got a call telling me that they had misquoted me and that it would actually be $64. I understand that mistakes happen and agree that $10 was low for that service, but for $64 I'll buy the dies and do it myself. I would have been more than happy to pay a bit more than the original quote had they offered me any sort of reconciliation. I couldn’t imagine if someone had traveled a considerable distance or mailed them boots for service and they do something like that. Disappointed with my service and won’t be returning.

The best service!!! And a fun location. The folks behind the counter are always extremely courteous and ready to help. Got my ostrich leather boots resoled here recently and they did a phenomenonal job! Even shined and edged them up beautifully. Everything under the vamp appears brand new!Many of their products, specifically their bags, are made locally. Love to see that.

Charlie and the staff at Tanner's Alley go above and beyond to create custom, high-quality products exactly as clients imagine. From fully bespoke ostrich-skin bags to match a motorcycle's seats to repairs to boots and couture bags, there is NOTHING with which I wouldn't trust Charlie. I've had him doing my leather repairs and custom pieces from as far away as Hawaii, and have recommended his work to friends literally everywhere on Earth. He is PERFECTION. We stopped in one morning while out for a stroll and had a look. It’s a nice shop actually, locally made and prices are pretty impressive. She bought a gorgeous leather bound journal and loves it. Good quality and nice leather. Next time in town we are going back to get a few more items.

Amazing service from the owners. Very respectful and willing to help me make a choice for a new product. Came to repair my 12 years old belt and she was kind to tell me that it has lived a meaningful life 🤣 for 12 years and needed a replacement (my wife agreed with that). Tanner's Alley replaced the soles on a pair of my boots. Their repair job was better quality than the original. They even cleaned and serviced the leather on the upper part of the boots. I am very impressed with their service and well beyond my expectations.

I dropped of my Dingo boots for a heel and sole repair/replacement. When I got my boots back, not only were the soles and heels excellent, but the boots looked to be polished as well! Alot of businesses could learn by the awesome example of customer service, as this establishment has done. Great service every step of the way. I had a motorcycle boot with a blown zipper, and Couldnt find anywhere to fix it. I came across some reviews and sent them a message from their website. They responded the next day with what I considered a fair quote, so I mailed them the boot. They received it in a couple of days, immediately contacted me, and asked if I wanted to upgrade the zipper; for the same price. They told me it would be completed the next Wednesday, and sure enough, called on Wednesday and the job was complete. They shipped the boot out and I received it today, two days later. The zipper looks great and is definitely a higher quality zipper. They were friendly and professional every step of the way. Why look anywhere else?

The first time my roommate and I had some work done, on a satchel and a jacket, and there were some issues with the alterations on the jacket in addition to some delays. (Which led to an unflattering earlier version of this review which you may have seen) In the end, the owner reached out to us and made it right and I adjusted the review and score accordingly.Over the last few years since then, they've provided consistently friendly, high-quality service. I feel more than comfortable bumping this up to a five-star rating and accepting that the initial difficulties were an outlier caused by circumstances outside the store's control. I'm glad to be a regular customer.

I've taken boots to Tanners Alley for repairs on three occasions. The first pair were Merrill hiking boots which needed to have the Vibram soles re-glued. The second pair were leather back-country ski boots which first needed to have the tongue re sewn and later needed to have the 75mm 3-pin binding repaired. The repair work was excellent and at a reasonable price. It is nice to be able to get more wear out of my favorite boots which were still in good shape and just needed repairs!

I picked up a pair of beloved Fluevog boots today that I left at Tanner's because one of them had the seam split along about an inch up the back. Above the heel, around the bend in my ankle. This is a not terribly surprising place for a well-loved boot to suffer wear.They should have been embarrassed by what they handed back to me. Sadly, I did not look at the boots until I got home and after they were closed today. The leather was not ripped, originally. The seam came undone. It is a repair I know others have gotten done on these and similar boots - albeit, elsewhere. Not only is the "repair" not in line with the original seam, the stitching is a mess of a seam stitch if it is one, and the new holes that were made are inconsistently spaced and uneven.These are $399 boots, now damaged by this $15 repair. I would have preferred they call and tell me they could not or did not want to attempt to repair these boots. I can't begin to imagine why someone thought this was the better option. I will not be taking any more of my shoes to Tanner's Alley for repair, instead preferring the extra cost of shipping them to a Fluevog approved cobbler in another state. The extra cost is worth the knowledge that my shoes are in good hands.Photo of the damage attached.

3 years ago my dad bought my mom a pair of boots and she let me borrow them. They were her favorite boots. Well my dog chewed them up and ruined them. When my dad passed away this year my mom wanted every thing she could get that would remind her of him. Well, I took these boots to Tanner’s Alley in hopes to repair them so my mom could wear these boots in honor of my dad. When I picked the boots up, I nearly cried at how beautiful they looked. They did such a wonderful job and I’ll never be able to say how grateful I am. Thank you for making my mom’s Christmas Tanner’s Alley!!

I've been taking my leather goods to Tanner's Alley for over 30 years. We don't know how fortunate we are to have a true leather Craftsman in town. Charlie is a true Craftsman that not only repairs, but will make custom leather goods. GREAT place 👍

I wasn’t going to put a remark on here, but If no stars were possible!!!! I was treated by the owner as if I was trying to get something for free! After they ruined a pair of new shoes that was only being stretched in the toe area. I was accused of bringing damaged or used shoes in for stretching. Even after I produced my receipt that the shoes where only two weeks old, I was then told that I bought seconds from the shoe store in the mall. Very disappointed in the “hometown” store!!!

Good place to have shoes resoled or repaired. Just has a pair of leather dress shoes smooth leather sole replaced with rubberized forefoot. Very reasonable price & looked completely seamless.

One of the few retailers anymore that care about serving the customer. Always pleasant and prices are reasonable. People say parking downtown is an issue, but last few months I have not had any problem finding a space near-by.
