Nice park nice visitor center. There is a short path to a view point to the bridge. There are stairs but I don't think it is that bad compared to the trail by the mines. Also you can drive down to the gorge if you turn right at the visitor center.

Great visitor center! The rangers were really helpful and we were able to get the information we needed. Also, from the visitor center there's a boardwalk to some scenic views of the park and bridge. Very beautiful! Be ready for a lot of stairs!

We spent morning checking out the sites, trails and gathering ideas on what to see and do. Wife and daughter did the 'Catwalk Tour' of the Route 19 bridge this past summer and convinced me I had to go. We spent the next couple of days going around the park visiting the other Visitor Centers and were not disappointed. This one offers views of the valley, New River and the Bridge. Staff was helpful, informative and and answered all questions with enthusiasm. The gift shop was clean, neat and orderly, with a movie theater, with overlook decks of the valley. Unfortunately, we were a bit too early for the full color of the autumn leaves but there were pockets and they were beautiful. We left the parking lot onto the Fayette Station Road to the old New River bridge crossing which was a super side trip and strongly recommend you take the drive its well worth it. We enjoyed ourselves and you probably will to. Enjoy.

The people were super friendly and informative. They helped us get to the places we wanted to see. It was very educational with displays of things in the park, heritage and culture of the area. How the park was established and about the bridge. Restrooms were clean and a store to buy park related things. I have a national park passport and you can get your cancellations there. I usually get a sticker for each park as well.

Bottom of the stairs.sunset. a perfect place to clear your head and get some perspective. Meditation must try spot! The perfect scenery to try out the my s23 ultra's ProCamera with noone watching me. Also I felt a great sense of peace when I left the lookout spot. It's a LOT longer on the way up the stairs to the top. I had to stop a few times, but with a view like that, it was a beautiful stop every time so I didn't mind.

I don't care how long you've been in your car, if you love nature, STOP at this rest area/scenic overlook. There is a bridge that has quite a few steps. But don't worry, the steps are after the bridge. You can just go to bridge or take the stairs trek down and get closer. Also, there is another overlook right behind the visitor center, so you don't have to go to bridge, but we did all 3 (behind visitor center, bridge, and steps). It was well worth it. West Virginia is sweet. It's all free. They have a gift store, like any visitor center, but no cost to just see it all.

This visitor center is in the heart of new river gorge National park from where you can see the beautiful view of the river as well as the bridge. The exhibits are stunning and they also show a very informative movie. My son was thrilled to collect the junior ranger badge from here. This is a new park. From the visitor center there is a beautiful boardwalk and a few steps to the view of the bridge. Overall it’s a nice place to stop if you visit this National park. Also do not miss the Fayette station one way loop to the river and back up. We really enjoyed that part.

I went hwre to get information on bridge day and parking. Looked aroun the center but did not take many pictures as I had been to Sandstone visitor center earlier in the day. I did walk over to the o erlook to look at the bridge. It was raining so did not stay long outside. The rangers were very helpful and gave me all the information that I needed.

Great place to start and learn about The New River and New River Gorge Bridge. They have restrooms, a small gift shop, a movie theater playing the history of the place and a little museum. Also a model of the river and bridge that is pretty cool. There are some walking areas, plenty of parking and a couple of picnic spots. Some pretty flowers around. Once you check it out, take your walk down to the scenic view. Make sure to take the crazy, winding road down behind the center to the river, great views and stop offs on the way.

Great place to start the New River Gorge Adventure. Pick up a map, ask the friendly staff the exact same questions they answer hundreds of time everyday. All while smiling and welcoming you to the park. Wow! It's an amazing place to just sit and look out the large windows from the comfy rocking chairs. The 11 minute movie is worth watching just to bone up on the areas history. Be sure to take the short walk to the bridge overlook from the visitor center.

Wonderful visitor center, scenic views right from it, which is pretty cool. Has movies running every 30 minutes or so on the history and a small museum regarding its formation. Staff is friendly and helpful, they had a ton of info on which I had to readjust my trip, taking out sandstone for Wolf Creek. Plenty of amenities and bathrooms, picnicking area.

I can't say enough about the beauty of this place. It's a meeting/greeting place where humans interact with nature. You can picnic, hike, sit in the sun, or just sit in your car and relax before hitting the road for your next stop. Facilities are clean and you will even learn about the history of the area if you drive to the bottom of the gorge.

Very great place to visit. I’d recommend stopping here first to understand the history of the gorge and the mining operations that were prevalent in West Virginia’s early history. The rangers here are great and professional, you can also ask them for recommendations based on how long you’ll be in the park. There is a path in front of the building that will lead you to an overlook of the bridge.

Just go. See the views. Walk the stairs. It’s worth it. A very short walk to the upper view and then stairs are many and optional. Safe and slatted, providing reassurance and comfort even with a toddler in tow. The restroom had already closed when we arrived, which was a slight obstacle but we worked it out.

The Canyon Rim Visitors Center was our first stop when entering the New River Gorge National Park. The visitor center offered great incite to the history of the park, park maps and a great orientation of the area. The staff was wonderful friendly and very informative. The museum offered a short film of the park and the facilities were very clean and well maintained. There is a viewing deck on the back side of the building and just a short walk from the parking lot there is a great overlook of the New River Gorge Bridge. Be sure to stamp your park passport while you are here.

It’s not huge, but does have decent exhibitions about the local people, history, plants and animals. And a short film about the national park as well. The view is pretty and the building is new and nice. They have good souvenir collection which we purchased three. We spent 40mins to complete the jr ranger program and earn the badge, kids enjoyed it.

Lovely visitor center and the only one for New River Gorge National Park that is open year round. Short boardwalk (handicap accessible) to views of the gorge and the iconic bridge. A series of stairs takes you down to slightly better views. The volunteer Stan W. staffing the desk was very friendly and an excellent resource for planning our visit.

Beautiful place to come see the bridge without getting too involved in the mountain but going down through the stations was such a good experience all the way down and across the bridge looking up at the new river gorge bridge, overall it's so fun I recommend it to anyone but the center itself is alright I didn't go in because I carry and they do not allow weapons of any type in the building so keep that in mind but luckily the bathroom is right before the main entrance on the right so you can tell them to 🖕off right before you embark on your trip down the mountain and up the other side

Beautiful views of the gorge and New River Gorge Bridge from a short walk from the visitor center. Neat museum inside and nice area to sit inside/outside to admire the view of the gorge. Next door is canyon rim gift shop which was also a great souvenir shop with an ice cream shop attached. Also nearby is the scenic drive on Fayette Station Road and the bridge buttress trail.
