I really wanted to like this place since I like supporting local businesses. However, our experience at Bright Morning was really bad. Firstly, after literally dozens of attempt to contact the hotel to advise them of a change to our reservation no one ever picked up the phone. Secondly, while staying there in the middle of winter for some skiing and there was NO HOT WATER. We told the manager about this and he said he'd look into it. Third, the next morning when again attempting to take a shower there was NO WATER AT ALL! Another guest in the parking lot said it was the same for him. Fourth, as noted in other reviews, noise in rooms from the bar downstairs is loud, but the inn does a really good job of providing lots of earplugs! Conclusion... very poor management, and I've had far better accommodations while camping.

I had a breakfast scramble/bowl. It was tasty and well-prepared. The menu is a little small... no omelets, but that makes sense as it is a small place. This is my go-to breakfast place in the area. I did not stay overnight here as I was camping nearby.Nearby activities: The area has a lot of year-round activities.Food & drinks: Tasty!

This place use to be so rad! Like, so rad. Best breakfast in the state - hands down. But, I think those days are gone. Do you all do breakfast anymore? Its just tequila, tequila, blah, blah, blah. There are like 69 bottles of tequilla…what even is this? Tysons Corner? Geez. Like there are legacy bars in that area not sure why they are competing with them, but rest in power with that. A lot of my family use to stay there and I hear you can’t get rooms there anymore? Bums me out, but that is progress, maybe? Anyways, the food they have there is pretty good but that is if you can get it before it runs out and not sure if they even have a menu anymore. Last few times I was there the options were fries and wings. Cool…. I don’t even go in there anymore for food or drink, I usually just feel let down. I guess a lot of the locals don’t either. Its just sad. Def check out The Billy, Stumptown, Elenders, Hellbenders, The Eagles and Shop and Save.

Bright Morning Inn is the best dog friendly hotel in Canaan valley and beyond. Cozy, stylishly decorated rooms sit on top of a great restaurant with the inside and outside seating. The owner has created a wonderful place with the best food, perfect room decor and beautifully landscaped garden. The owner has amazing taste that shows both in food offerings at the Milo’s restaurant and the best artists he attracts to provide live music. You can’t beat the location - right in the center of Davis - next to the restaurants, microbreweries, shops, waterfalls and hikes. We stayed in many places around Davis. Bright Morning Inn is definitely our favorite. We would live there if we could. Meanwhile, we just keep coming back!

Do your research so you know what to expect. This is a 19th century (1896) building on the main road through Davis. It is not new, fancy, or quiet. You are paying for convenience of location. It was nice having a coffee shop right next door.Off street parking behind the building was nice.We stayed in room #1 (family suite). The room faces the main road and is directly above Milo’s Cafe/Bar - you can hear everything. The only reason we gave it 4 stars and not 5 stars, is because the mattress/pillows. The mattress is firm with no padding. You can feel the springs. The pillows are very soft and do not pair well with the mattress. A higher quality mattress would go a long way in this room.We enjoyed our stay here and thought it was perfect for what we needed/expected for our visit to Davis. Would stay here again if we came back to the area.

Ok, here's the deal. If you're wanting a full service hotel with all the amenities, this isn't for you.But if you are wanting a nice clean place to crash in-between running around shopping, hiking or whatever...this will be perfect. We had room #7 and it was nice and cozy. Bed was comfortable and everything was neat and clean. We were on the parking lot side and can't say it was all that loud. I'm certain it would be more noisy on the street side. There is no TV and a community fridge and microwave in the common areas. Again, staying here should mean you are planning on not hanging out most of the time here. The restaurant downstairs is nice. Breakfast was really good.

If you need a comfy place to stay, you can stay here. However, they don't have mNy amenities like iron/iron board. No microwave or refrigerator or ice machine. I am glad there was a hair dryer and shampoo supplies, etc were there. Towels were stocked, too. There was no hotel available in the close vicinity of blackwater State Park. This was the one but no available to book online. We drove there, and we were happy the room was available. The room 7 air conditioner wasn't working, so they gave us room 8. Parking was free from the backside of the restaurant.Walkability: Right on the street with very nice shops, restauratns and an ice cream shop

If you consider hot water a necessity, this is not the place for you!I knew this was a 19th century building, but I was expecting hot water. The first day, we thought the lack of hot (or even warm) water was an anomaly - maybe the water heater had gone kaput, but when there was no hot water that night or the next day, we became frustrated. The inn is above a restaurant, and the restaurant was open. A restaurant must have hot water, right? So why no hot water for the seven rooms in the inn?

Nice little bed-and-breakfast in an historic building with a cosy atmosphere. The room itself was clean and quite warm (we stayed during the mid-March snowstorm), and there was a communal fridge in which I stored some leftovers from a local restaurant. The breakfast at Milo’s is the absolute best, in my opinion. Definitely staying here again next time I’m in the area.

Loved everything about this little inn. I booked it with a friend so we could come XC skiing at White Grass. The room was cute and everything was clean and inviting. We had dinner downstairs at the bar and we were served by Brent, the owner! We had good conversation and the food was absolutely delicious! I had pork belly tacos and the duck. The beds were comfortable and we got a great night's sleep. Breakfast downstairs in the restaurant was another hit! We checked out with ease and will definitely be back! I didn't bring my dog this time but they are also dog friendly! I can't recommend this place enough! Plus it's smack dab in the middle of Davis. 😊 (Note: No TV which was totally fine by us!)

My husband and I were hammock camping at Dolly Sods but the weather turned and we needed somewhere to stay last minute. We gave Bright Morning Inn a call and luckily they had room! Normally they require a 2 night stay on weekends but were kind enough to let us stay the one night last minute. The staff are very kind and considerate. The room was the kind size bed room with a very comfy bed. It was clean and quiet. The bathroom was also very nice. We 10/10 recommend.

A comfortable room with a decent bed in a pretty house above the restaurant. It was an OK place to stay. Quiet and comfortable. A bit strange when you arrive, there is no reception, no one to say hello. Just a basket with your key in an enveloppe. You enter by the back door through a closed gated restaurant to the first floor. A bit strange but not a big problem. The breakfast was served in the restaurant. Nothing special but nothing wrong either. It is in a good location to visit the region. Thomas is just 10 minutes away and there you can find shops and a great pub "the purple fiddle". We enjoyed a live concert in a fun atmosphere there.

Let me start with the positives 1st. The bathroom looked to be recently remodeled. I would add that the shower floor is very slippery and they have a lawsuit coming if they do not correct this. The negative lists are long but I will hit the highlights. This is a house with many rooms above a little café. Not a traditional hotel. The doors to your room cannot be locked from the inside. That means that anyone with a key can walk into your room at any time. This is a simple and inexpensive fix with a deadbolt. This place is very rustic. If that is what you want then this might be a positive. It was not for me.There was no TV, refrigerator, or clock in the room. There was a compact AC unit in the room that was broken. It was a hot day and the room was very warm and uncomfortable. This made for a poor night's sleep. The next morning, I reported this to the staff downstairs at the café since there is no front desk. They said they would fix the problem while I was out that day. When I returned the AC unit was still broken and they had just opened the window. There was also no follow up or explanation. The place was expensive for what you get. The Sawmill or Billy hotels up the street are significantly less expensive and better IMHO.I will stop here as you probably have a picture of what the experience and what to expect. If this review was helpful to you please give it a thumbs up.

We stayed here for 4 nights. It was our first trip to the area and the location was great - close to lots of hiking trails. Dining options in town are limited and we ended up eating both breakfast and dinner here every day except dinner on Sunday because the cafe wasn't open. This was no sacrifice - the food was very good, with an interesting range of dinner choices. Breakfast options are fairly basic but delicious. But the standout part of our stay was the staff. I can't say enough about how fabulous they were. They were friendly, polite, super competent, and accommodating. As for the rooms, as noted by someone else , they're small, but that didn't bother me. I chose the room with a king bed and it was very comfortable. The room was clean. My only real complaint is that it was pretty dark It was painted a dark color and the lighting was very dim. We spent much of our evenings reading, and lighting wasn't really great for that. However, I definitely hope to stay here again.

The Bright Morning Inn is situated in the heart of Davis. From the road this place does not look like much, but the quaint restaurant, outdoor seating area and rustic rooms with old world charm make this place an absolute diamond. The food was decent and I liked the fact that you could include breakfast with the room rate at a reduced price.I only gave this place 3 stars because the customer service left much to be desired. I think this is partially because the front of house staff are rather young and a bit immature. Having stayed for 4 nights, I from time to time naturally made small common asks of the front of house that were met with eye rolls, some dishonestly at times perhaps? and obvious attitude. It did not feel good to feel like an imposition to the staff.

The owners and staff are very nice people. I plan to return for a visit. They have a restaurant/ bar downstairs, Milo's. They serve breakfast and lunch. Affordable prices, you can get a good meal for $10. Pet friendly. Dollar General and a grocery store is right up the street, I walked there with my dog several times. Very nice tourist town with very friendly people. They had a room open last minute on a Sunday. They let me check in early. Check out is at 11am.

My wife and I so enjoyed staying here! The bed was very nice, with a lovely quilt and nice sheets - the bath was perfectly clean and adequate. We found the innkeeper to be laid-back and interesting. The included breakfast is taken in a room open to the public, we were free to have what we liked, and we had peach pancakes, two thumbs up! Amazing value! Don't hesitate!

Visited after lunch hour. For our crew of 5, including 2 little ones, the dining room side was perfect. Our meals were fresh and delicious. Very nice service, happy to return in the future.

I'm not surprised I'm comfortable here. What an absolutely wonderful place. Rustic, 8 rooms, Very Pet Friendly! At Milo's Cafe Restaurant, everyone knows my dog's name😄 Boh. Excellent Music going on downstairs right now, I have my door partially open.As in other wonderful places, No in-room phone or TV. There is WiFi, so don't get disconnect distressed.Rustic means different things to different people. This Rustic is comfortable beds, nice bathroom. My nose works exceptionally well -- I only smell fresh, No food, No pet smells, No wood smoke - which was at grocery store 1/4 mile away. BTW, I do like wood smoke.Surprising selection of Beer and Wine at Milo's. Many food 'style' options, you know what I mean. I had Lox bagel for breakfast, pork belly tacos for dinner. Dinner mixed vegetables 'hit the spot'. I'm doing traditional breakfast tomorrow. Service is really fast & friendly.

Another great spot in the little town of Davis. We didn't stay at the Inn, we just visited for breakfast. It was awesome. Very fresh and made from scratch. I'm not a coffee drinker but according to my wife, the coffee was amazing. Didn't get the brand of it but there is a coffee shop next door that is a likely candidate. The prices were very reasonable and the staff was friendly. Our waitress even made a bird out of the aluminum foil she put my wife's leftovers in. We will definitely return next time we're in town.

What a gem. My wife and I stayed at Bright Morning for two nights recently, and will certainly return. We found the owner, Susan, and other staff to be very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious. The french toast was special: battered potato bread sprinkled with oats. Omelets were wonderful, too. Susan gave us and other guests plenty of attention during breakfast and at other times. The cozy lounge area (for TV, reading, and conversation) was a great area to visit with the other guests. We've stayed in several other places in the Davis area, and this is the best in terms of our overall satisfaction. It is an older building that has been updated but not over the top updated. The furnishings are nice, and our bathroom was clean and functional. If you want the Holiday Inn / resort atmosphere, go there. If you want some real local flavor, stay at the Bright Morning.

The food here is delicious. It’s right along the line of the small town of Davis, WV. Employees are nice, they have a little pastry area to buy things like croissants and such. The only problem is that they are SUPER SLOW!!! If you are coming here for a quick bite to eat, DO NOT!!! The wait is very long, but highly anticipated because the food is great. If you have time to wait, I 100% recommend this place.

Great bnb, we’ve stayed here a few times now. I love that they’re pet friendly, and the breakfast inclusion in the room rate is awesome. Perfectly located in the heart of Davis, and situated close to a bunch of hiking trails. There’s no tv in the room, which I like, because it encourages you to experience outside during your trip.

This was the first time we visited for breakfast even though we have been visiting Davis and the Canaan Valley for a number of years. There was a bit of a wait but after we got our food I understood why. Excellent hearty breakfast, everything was delicious. The coffee was exceptional, and i so wanted to sample some of the goodies in the case by the register but I was too full. We will definitely return.

This hotel is in a great location (less than 15 minutes to Blackwater Falls), and one of the only lodging options that allowed pets. The rooms are small, but clean; however just to note- to access the rooms you must climb a steep flight of stairs (a challenge for our elderly dog). Unfortunately the bed was pretty uncomfortable and creaked loudly when shifting positions.

Very nice B&B in a historic building. The hosts are very accommodating and attentive, breakfast selection is great. Bonus was live music on Friday in the restaurant - I didn’t have to go anywhere to enjoy a nice Friday evening. Highly recommend

My husband and I took this trip on the whim. We take many trips and have never stayed at a bed and breakfast. Family owned, rooms were cozy and quiet, complemtaary breakfast was amazing, and being right in the center of this small town allowed us to get to shops and food easily. It's close to all the state park attractions and falls. Definitely worth the visit.

This is THE spot to go for breakfast. The food is delicious and the staff are super nice. The place has a beautiful interior (and exterior, love your flowers!)Editing my original post to include a bit about staying here! Normally I come to Davis in the summer, so I always camp. I decided to make a fall visit this year and was excited to book a stay at Bright Morning. I follow their Instagram account and love seeing their friendly posts about Davis. Having now spent the night, I can say with certainty that I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone!Everyone on the staff is so nice, and the rooms are beautiful. I loved the little orientation binder in my room that talks about the town and the inn and gives you a little bit of history in addition to helpful suggestions on things to do and places to go!The vintage furniture and gorgeous original hardwood flooring really give the rooms the perfect home feeling. My breakfast recommendation has always been and will always be the huevos rancheros - I stop in for an order every time I'm in town!Thank you Susan and the rest of the Bright Morning staff for operating such a wonderful place. Your sunny sign and beautiful flowers always put a smile on my face when I drive through town!

Couldn't find a place to stay for miles, then stumbled upon Bright Morning. Booked the room and hoped for the best. The place was quaint and clean- the decor very fitting. I loved the old wood floors and trim. And the breakfast! Delicious and you won't need to eat lunch! We enjoyed our stay and met wonderful people. We loved the town and the area is beautiful.
