I recently bought an e-mtb bike from a direct-to-consumer company. The bike had some electrical issues that needed to be fixed by a certified mechanic with the appropriate knowledge expertise. I am very grateful that such expertise was available locally here in Yakima at Bearded Monkey. After they worked on it, my bike is now riding great. While dropping off my bike with my daughter, who is four, I also bought her a small children’s bike. She is absolutely loving it and she is already riding without training wheels.

The employee or the owner (whoever he was) acted like total snob when I went in to their store inquiring about getting work done on my son's bike. Their response was that they didn't work on BMX bikes and before I could respond they just walked away like I had annoyed them or irritated them so I just left. I would NOT recommend this place at all.

What a gigantically good store, for me at least. Traveling North toward Vancouver Canada, this wonderful vehicle the chain keeps stretching. Luke got right on it, went out to get a special part, glance was as nice as could be, the whole staff friendly generous with their time expert. You are lucky to have such a good store.

Other guys seem cool but the guy who has a beard and wears flip flops is not friendly at all. Might be the owner. If you are not familiar with bikes and are new to the industry he treats you like your dumb. Wouldn’t recommend.

I've had nothing but great service here. I've been in here about a dozen times and every time I leave happy. Today I brought in a wheel that had a bolt go through it. Even though the mechanic was obviously busy with other things, he stopped what he was doing and helped me out. I went in there expecting to replace the wheel and wait a few weeks for parts. Instead he did a quick repair, put a new tube in, mounted the tire, and aired it up. When my older father in law brings his bikes in for service, they come out of the store and help him get them out of his truck. The customer service here is nothing short of great. The shop itself is nice too, I love the music playing and the huge selection of bikes (when its not a global bike shortage). You always hear about these cool bike shops with people who love doing what they do running them, this is one of those shops.

This review is long overdue.It's safe to say that is rare to find businesses during this crisis that can afford to be so good to their customers that it could seemingly cost them money. These guys have met me almost INSTANTLY every time I've pulled into their lot. I had been having recurring problems with my tires on an old bike and they unconditionally met me each time and charged me initially and didn't stop until I had a permanently fixed bike instead of their repeated time at it. This is a statement of honesty and a true business.This does NOT mean that you should expect a freebie! But it is indicative of character that transcends economic uncertainty. This place is amazing and you can rest assured that your money is well spent there and goes toward a local business that sets the standard for professionalism and decency.

I purchased the bike a little over a year ago from Jake's, and received great service, even after I knew the warranty had expired. I recently took my bike into the shop knowing that I damaged it. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the staff at Bearded Monkey. Lance was a huge help with choosing and purchasing a new Trek bike and has been extremely helpful with any questions or tweaks. I’d recommend these guys to anyone looking for a local bike shop!

I have gone hear for years and I got my first bike here and my mom and grampa were here from the beginning of the store but as of the last 2 years they were rude their dog has bitten me and they never fully fixed my bike I had the brakes bled almost every month and every time it worked for about a day and they would go soft again. And even more recently I had my rear shock rebuilt from them it cost 150 bucks it didn't work that same day it went soft multiple time and now will not hold air they also tried to sell me a new rear shock but it wouldn't arrive for 2 years I went to revolution cycles he sold me the same shock for a 100 bucks cheaper and got it with in 2 months i will be going to revolution from now on and his customer service was way better. They will not listen to the rider of the bike if heOr she is not an adult.

I had a great experience with the guys at Bearded Monkey. I like in the Tri-Cities and was looking everywhere for a bike for my kid. We called Bearded Monkey and purchased a Trek bike over the phone. They held on to it for 3 weeks for me. Then, when I finally had time to go pick it up on a Saturday, I called them to let them know I was coming and they were willing to stay in the store an hour after closing time to allow pick-up. Great customer service.When I arrived, each parking spot had very large and blatant "Please stay in your car" signs, as many businesses are having to do during this pandemic. I understood their vantage point of trying to do business safely, and they came out within one minute to help me.I asked if they wouldn't mind staying just a little bit longer to help me out to buy a bike for myself. They didn't act at all like I was putting them out, even though they were supposed to shut the store an hour earlier and go home for the weekend. They said that there is a national shortage on bikes, but showed me one that I liked a lot. I purchased that one as well and they even offered to build a few more things on both bikes -- again, after closing time.After it was all done and they had already taken my money, I was loading the bikes into the back of my truck and he helped me to make sure that the bikes were in safely.There may be a shortage of inventory around the country, but there was no shortage of customer service at Bearded Monkey. Just go in with realistic expectations, and they just might blow them out of the water for you.Running a business during a stressful time with Covid is not at all easy. These guys are trying to navigate how to roll with the punches and do what's best for the public while also keeping themselves healthy and well.

I cannot express how impressed I am with Bearded Monkey Cycling. My 11 year old son wanted a very specific bike, and had visited the shop to check it out. After a couple of weeks, we went in to purchase it. Lance remembered my son, and treated him like a real customer with respect. He answered his questions and went over the bike with him so he knew what everything was. I appreciate the amazing customer service!

Great Place. Broke a spoke on my bike on a ride the day before leaving Yakima. Called them at noon and asked if they could fix my bike that day and they said bring it it. They fixed it and found a couple more warn spokes and fixed those as well. Very friendly and did the work at a fair price. Love the beards.

Excellent experience. I had a couple of minor issues with my kids’ bikes and even though they were very busy, one staff member stopped what he was doing and came and diagnosed the problems, fixing one of them on the spot in about 5 minutes. He refused to take money! That says a lot. I will go back for more substantial repairs.

RUDE and ARROGANT customer service .After seeing other reviews I am pretty convinced they need to work on customer service.The owner comes out almost yelling at me for not parking correctly on one of the parking spaces, and even after that incident I still make a purchase. I do understand it was my fault for not paying attention ,but maybe I little bit of politeness would of been good. For the record If you guys are having a bad day please don’t take on customers...Remember customers are that ones that support and pay your bills for your small business.....I my self own a business for the last 17 years and never never treat customers that way ..

I’ve purchased bikes and used their repair services for over a decade. I can say they do what they say they’re going to do, and they get things done when they promise it to be done. I appreciate their knowledge. I feel bad about the inventory challenges due to COVID, as I know it’s impacting local bike shops.

I came here after having a horrible experience at the other bike shop in town. I was warned about this place and that only made me want to come here more. The help I received was fantastic. The two boys let me speak about what my needs were before offering their advice and opinions. This really made me feel like they were listening. They talked about the product they thought would fit me, a composite Giant road bike made specifically for women. It wasn't in stock but they told me they were expecting some in real soon and would call me when they arrived and were assembled. I can't wait to come back to Jake's.

These guys are doing it right, commitment to Excellency and customer service is imperative when making big purchases like a new mountain or road bike, and these guys are top notch.After a difficult afternoon at our local bike shops in Wenatchee, we called in a last ditch effort to find a couple of models to ride and try. Not only did Lance have what my lady was looking for, he adjusted his schedule staying after close for us JUST for her to try it out. He took the time to discuss key fitment points, made several adjustments to aid with rideability, and she ended up walking away with a new Trek!This is local bike shop service at it's best. If you want to sell your product, you've got to take the time to know your customer. Although we came from several counties over, these guys made us feel right at home. 6 stars for sure.

I took my bike’s tire today for repair and as I waited I inquired about a bicycle for my 11-year-old. Not only did they recommend a very good product, but also I was able to purchase it at a very fair price. Great service, I will definitely be going back!

Awesome! These guys know what's up. New management in the past year is making great changes, I haven't had any problems. These guys are much easier and more fun to deal with than the guys at valley and revolution. I feel these guys just enjoy the sports of cycling and mountain biking, and want everyone to enjoy it also. While they other bike shops around Yakima make you feel inferior, and talk down to you. I recommend going into Jake's and getting a Giant, or have them work on your bike.

This was my first experience at this local business and unfortunately will be my last. The employee working outside in the parking lot was Abit of a jerk..He said " wait near your vehicle and you will get help faster". By reading the reviews from other customers there is a trend of this owner disrespectful to customer. Its a shame. Be going elsewhere now and won't ever promote this to anyone in town for repairs or purchasing a bike.. Ever.
