Animal Hospital of Maple Valley is fantastic!Even though I love 23 minutes away I rather go here than anywhere else. I've known Doctor Ashley Austin for quite some time even before she started her own practice. I trust her with my cats because she is very knowledgeable, very caring & loving with my cat's. She truly is a genuine sweet person that really cares for the animals well-being, and would do anything she can to truly help your pet.The staff here is also very knowledgeable and very sweet and kind. I would also like to mention that the prices here are very reasonable and affordable Then other veterinarians around my area in Renton & Kent. I really do love bringing my cat's here and I will never go anywhere else.Thank you Doctor Ashley Austin for always being so kind, lovely and awesome!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Ashley Austin. As a new customer with a complex medical dog I felt listened to and acknowledged. I have seen many vets through the years and feel so fortunate to have found Dr. Austin. She pays attention to detail and gives me the confidence that my dog will be well taken care of and so far she’s done more than an outstanding job of doing just that. It’s been a long time since I have come across a vet of her caliber and I feel really fortunate. I have the utmost respect and confidence she will always be there to answer any questions I may have. Highly recommend!

Do not recommend this vet!!! Our French bulldog was pregnant and we decided to take her to this vet for care. When she was within days of giving birth they took her progesterone levels multiple times for at least 5 days. ($100 each test) we payed almost $900 in tests and they decided to send us home for the weekend and “watch for labor signs”. Isn’t that their job?? She was pregnant with 5 puppies and they all died during that weekend we were sent home. She should’ve been at the vet being taken care of and watched 24/7 until it was time to have the puppies. All they did was apologize and give us a $50 credit. $50 credit for a $3,000+ bill and 5 dead puppies. Never again! This was 100% the vets fault, we even had a second opinion from another vet that confirmed this.

Dr Bruce and the entire staff are just so wonderful! They were so fast and efficient getting our little Max in, and they all care so much! They make a stressful visit to the vet painless and easy for me and our little boy. We drive more than 20 minutes and pass a half a dozen veterinary clinics on the way to the animal hospital of Maple valley, for very good reason, they are the best!

I’ve recently experienced a really wonderful outcome dealing with many of the crew at Animal Hospital of Maple Valley. They truly represent“Above & Beyond”Dr. Austin must havehand-picked angels to help her with caring for our little kitty, Storm. The amount of critically urgentdecisions Dr. Austin made, followed by important procedures and more, were done for little Storm’s chance of survival. Then, followed several more day to day critical decisions regarding her continued care. From what I gathered and saw, by chatting daily with staff, and visiting, she really received a lot of genuine love, and expert attention, from everyone caring for her. I know in my heart, they brought her back from a very scary place she was heading. She is a very lucky kitty to have met such exceptionally wonderful Doctors, nurses, caregivers, and friends ❤️ Thank you !Keely Austin

Love this place. Dr Austin is the best. I’ve been taking my 3 dogs to her for over 4 years. Even my litter of 10 cane corso puppies. Her and her staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend all my friends and their pets to her.

If you are looking for care for your pets, you will not find it here. I transferred care to this practice for my dog about two years ago. With every experience and appointment here, it seems as though the care and service progressively gets worse.Previously, my dog was seen at this clinic for some blood work. She came home with a large bruise on her throat. Unacceptable. Photo is attached.A day after a routine appointment and some vaccines, she woke up with a large abscess on her cheek… She’s never had an issue such as this, and it happened to develop just after they had examined her teeth to check to see if she was in need of a cleaning. They determined her teeth looked “fine” and was not in need of a dental cleaning for some time, however I knew she was due. Photo is attached of her abscess. She was in so much pain, and when I called in, they did not care at all about her situation. I ended up having to take her in to another facility.I recently took her in for a teeth cleaning and experienced the worst customer service to date. I told to bring my pup in at 8:30am the morning of and she wasn’t seen until the very late afternoon. That’s an unacceptable amount of time to keep a little pup locked in a kennel when she could have been at home. I was also told there would be regular communication to which there was none. I called multiple times just to be rudely told that she was “still back there” and that the doctor would contact me when she was done… Last time I checked, dental cleanings don’t take 4 hours, so the fact she was “back there” and “being worked on” was inaccurate and lazy information. I was told to pick up my dog around 5:30pm, I arrived at 5:20pm and waited over 40 minutes for my pup. 5 people were working the front desk, each asked if I had been helped then proceeded to sit at the desk and attend to others that arrived after. It is not a coincidence that these situations all occurred. It’s a pattern, and it’s unbelievably awful. The customer service is horrendous. There is zero care or concern for the animals that are supposed to be cared for here. The facility is extremely dirty, and ultimately, this is just not a safe environment for your pets.If your pets are family, as my dog most certainly is, do NOT take them here. They will not be cared for properlyP.S. Thanks for the robo-text “checking” on my pet 24 hours after her procedure. So tacky.

We recently had a scare with our kitty Odin who we suspected had a UTI. From the start I was grateful to this clinic. They got us in same day when we called early Saturday morning. The care received was efficient, thorough, genuine and we were able to ask all questions we had. The price was more than reasonable as well for his testing and treatment. Odin is on the mend and I’m hoping will be all better this week. Thank you to the vet and staff at AHMV!

This was the best vet experience I’ve ever had.My cat developed an abscess right after Christmas and my regular vet was closed. There was also a snow storm and all of the other nearby vets were also closed.I called Animal Hospital of Maple Valley and spoke with their receptionist who was very kind and understanding and was able to find an appointment for me that same day.I was able to go into the room with my cat and actually got to talk to the doctor. She answered my questions, was gentle with my cat, and explained everything to me: what she believed was going on, the possible solutions, and gave me a price quote. They did the procedure on him and got him out within an hour of me bringing him in. The pricing was fair and they went through the invoice with me.I started the day stressed out and worried about my cat, but by the end of the visit I felt calm and assured that he got the care he needed.Huge thank you to the team for such a wonderful experience!

If I could give them more than 5 stars, I so would! My family has bringing our three pets here for a while after switching veterinarians due to multiple different reasons, and this place is the best, so when I got my own puppy. (Archie) it was a no brainer to take him here. When I got Archie, he was underweight, infested with fleas, and had kennel cough, though he was so small he couldn’t fight it off. It was scary to hear my two pound puppy coughing and hacking but the staff was incredible. They gave him the absolute best care, and even though he needed multiple vet visits (he was sick, then shots, then his neuter) he hasn’t been scared since his first appointment. The doctors gained his trust and put him at ease, and they were very compassionate and kind to me. I’ve always considered pets just as much a part of my family as my blood relatives, and it was such a relief to have so much compassion in a time where I was truly scared for my Archiekins.I would recommend the Animal Hospital of Maple Valley to anyone who would ask. They take will take incredible care of your pets! (Picture is Archie graduating from puppy classes, and he sure has grown from two pounds!)Bonus: After Archie got neutered, I got a call the next day to check in and see how he was doing!

I had to rush my cat to an emergency clinic, where they xrayed and confirmed my cat had an intestinal blockage. Their estimate for the surgery was 4 to 5 thousand dollars. I could not afford that and was looking at the option of Euthanizing my cat. When I told them about the amount from the emergency clinic. They were able to save my cat for just a little over 1,600. I am so grateful to them. You truly care about the people and their pets. Animal Hospital of Maple Valley, you all are true Professionals and Angles. Thank you so much.

Dr. Austin and her staff have been exceptional, it certainly can't be easy dealing with different animal and owner personalities and I think they manage this very well. After treating our ailing senior pup, she helped us with end of life treatment for our bichon. They were sensitive and compassionate in every detail of how the procedure was handled and sent us a sweet card with his paw print after the appointment. Of course it is hard and never ideal but they were so kind and assured us we had made the right decision. It is also wonderful that they try to distribute medication that you no longer can use to people who may have a financial hardship and can. I feel confident with Dr. Austin and her staff.

I have taken my pets here for years and receive wonderful care. It is obvious that everyone there loves pets by how they talk to and interact with each pet that comes in.I appreciate that if your pet is having an urgent issue and they are booked they will allow you to do a drop-off appointment. This ensures that your pet doesn't have to stay in pain another day or two waiting for an appointment time. Recently we had to do this with my senior dog who woke up not herself at all. The staff took great care of her. I was very thankful that when I walked into the room to see her that there was a tech sitting with her on the floor to keep her company. That meant so much to me. I really like the doctors and appreciate that they listen to your concerns about each pet. When we had to say goodbye to our sweet dog the staff was understanding and respectful. About a week after we lost her we received two cards in the mail from the hospital. One card all the staff signed with their condolences and both had our dog's paw prints. These are so special and something I will keep forever. The only reason this rating is a 4 instead of 5 is due to the front desk staff, not the medical staff. They have a lot of turnover in the reception desk area and the people at the front desk do not always know what is going on which is really frustrating.

We have been going here for 4 months with our 2 puppies. Have seen Dr. Ashley Austin and Dr. Josalyn Bruce. Both doctors have been knowledgeable and great. Staff has been very helpful and polite. So thankful to have found a great vet office close to home! I definitely recommend this place!

Brought my dog in to see Dr. Ramoutar for an ear infection caused by his environmental allergies. Despite not having been seen at this clinic before, they fit us in within a couple days. We really felt like Dr. Ramoutar listened to us and wasn’t at all judgmental, and we felt like she really cared about helping us find a long-term solution. She even personally taught us a better method for cleaning our dog’s ears to help keep his ear infection from coming back. She recommended a new treatment for our dog’s allergies and it’s made a huge difference. Prices were super reasonable, and a free nail trim was included in the cost of the office visit. All the staff we encountered were super friendly, and our dog was excited to go back in for a re-check. I’ve been recommending this vet to all my friends and family looking for a new vet!

This place is amazing. They listen to concerns and address them immediately. Dr. Austin and the front desk manager and receptionist have superb customer service. They communicate clearly and thoroughly regarding expectations and follow up. Dr. Austin went above and beyond today to have an unscheduled consultation and demo due to a scheduling misunderstanding. I thank the team for their superior care and concern!

Compassionate team. Everyone from the moment we walked in was very friendly and helped us during a troubling time. Dr. Lord was amazing; he took the time to talk with us and explain our dogs condition and the best options. Very knowledgeable. I will come here for my veterinary needs from now on. Thank you

We have been going to Maple Valley vet for almost 4 years and we had wonderful experience until recently and we had a bad experience with one of the associate working there. Pet industry is considered to be an area where care is needed, this person was so rude two times on two separate occasions to us that we decided to change the location. We didn't feel like giving our dog to this person a second time with all the bad remarks, we quickly left the office and changed to a new vet clinic.Response to the message below:We don't expects people to be bubbly and cheery, we understand that people are different and has a background of how and where they grew up. But we can understand the difference between rude and normal. Changing the review to 3, so that your business is not affected badly. The visit details you mentioned below is incorrect, we had an issue with our dog after first visit and I called and mentioned it too.

I took my dying cat there with severe trauma and I will say the woman vet that seen him was very nice, helpful and compassionate, but the couple of front desk ladies were just the opposite, they seem to do everything to try and make me go away, and all with zero compassion. Maybe some training on how to help a pet owner when their pet is on the edge of death, in pain and frightened instead of making it worse, or better yet find a new profession that doesn't require it.

Please disregard any review more than 7 months old when this business was under prior ownership. Dr. Austin is the new owner of this practice and, as another reviewer stated, she is AMAZING! She is very personable, compassionate and accommodating. She cares about your pet AND your pocketbook, aiming to provide the best care at the best prices. She is honest and informative in her treatment and recommendations. I understand that she has helped those who cannot afford to take their pet to a specialist. She successfully performed a complex, life-saving surgery (removal of bladder stones) on my dog at much less than other vets would have charged (I shopped around for quotes after my regular vet gave me a high quote). When I became concerned on a Friday evening that my dog’s condition had become life threatening, Dr. Austin accommodated my request to move up the surgery date from the scheduled Tuesday to the very next morning which SAVED MY DOG’S LIFE, as her bladder was about to burst from a stone blockage (and likely saved me thousands from what the emergency hospital would have charged). Dr. Austin gave me her cell phone number in case I need to call after hours, and her staff called me a few times over the next week to check on my dog’s recovery. When my dog suddenly developed a tumor on her rectum, I did not hesitate to call Dr. Austin. Her staff got me in for an appointment, and Dr. Austin removed the tumor, that same day! Truly the best service, treatment and prices of any vet I’ve ever been to as a dog owner of 25 years. I will now be bringing my dogs here for all their care.

We were able to make an appointment two days out for Dr. Austin to see our dog. The entire staff was friendly and it is obvious that they love pets and love their jobs. The vet tech asked lots of questions to make sure she fully understood why we were bringing in our pet and what our concerns were. When Dr. Austin came in to see our dog and talk with us, she took the time to fully explain what was going on with our pup and made sure we understood what she was saying. I didn't feel rushed with her, and I felt heard by her. She gave us a few options for treatment and care of our dog.A few days after our appointment, a staff member and Dr. Austin both called to check in to see how our dog was doing. I really appreciated this extra step; it really demonstrates the caring nature of everybody at this practice.I was nervous about finding a new vet, as I've moved away from the vet office where we took all of my childhood pets. Especially bringing in a dog with a condition I don't know much about, I was scared that I wouldn't find somebody who would take the time to care for my pet properly and help me understand what was going on with her. Immediately upon arrival, these fears were gone. I am so glad that we made our appointment with the Animal Hospital of Maple Valley, because I feel so safe trusting our dog to Dr. Austin's care. I'm relieved to have found a clinic that gives me all the familiar good vibes as my old vet!

I really enjoyed this vet's office! The front desk staff is wonderful as well as the doctors. My dog felt very comfortable at their office with all the friendly staff. Dr. Bruce is a great vet, answered all my questions, was incredibly patient, and well spoken/knowledgeable. I will definitely be returning!!

Insufficient examinations and lacking communication. I brought my dog in on three separate occasions and she didn’t get blood work until the third visit. Scheduled an X-ray and ultrasound to follow up. Was told we would get the results by a certain time and didn’t receive them until 4 days later. My dog had cancer and died before her her first chemo treatment. Granted, the chemo may not have helped anyway, but due to the lack of timely communication and insufficient examinations, we will never know if my dog’s life could’ve been prolonged. On top of that, they are clearly overwhelmed and the staff was rude when we questioned why we weren’t getting exam results within the time frame they stated. You’d think, given the situation, the staff would’ve been more compassionate and understanding. We also spent a massive amount of money there. I will never take an animal to this office again.

Dr Austin, you failed Bentley, our 17y.o. 5 lb, pikachu, and our family more than words can say! No animal/family should ever have to go thru what we did! To have our sweet little guy crying in pain for the last 20 minutes of his precious life because of your decision to insert a cath (rather than a double anesthesia dose), then for it to fail, then to have the tech come in and squeeze his other leg while he's still crying and withering in pain, all while you struggle to inject w/o a cath? Then when my husband asks how could this go so wrong, for you to respond "Excuse me? You brought him in already incapacitated!" No! He was not! He was quiet and snoozy when we brought him in, as he had been all weekend. After a Sumner ER vet diagnosed him with internal bleeding and with so much other stuff against him, we brought him home and spent 2 days making the decision to let him go, spoiling and loving on him. It was the most difficult decision but believed it was best for him, rather than wait for him to deteriorate and suffer. We brought him to you, expecting a peaceful transition over the rainbow as we had experienced at Mission Vet with two other beloved pets over the years. We chose you because it was closer to home and had routine pet care with you before. We trusted you! This was a total disregard for an animal's suffering and a total disrespect to an already grieving family! We have been traumatized beyond measure! My daughter and I don't know how to get through this, with the horrific memory of his last moments, involuntarily flooding our thoughts day and night! Poor little guy did not deserve this kind of ending!!! This was not what I paid you to do! Unacceptable!😭💔😡In response to your response on my review Dr Austin, really? You're going to turn this around on us? Bentley was not "debilitated." He was doing fine till he was taken back for the catheter procedure. We only asked for a little more time to try to calm him after getting the cath, not to have more time with him and you did not leave 4 times. When there was no calming him down and when you came back the second time, we called my husband back in, and said it's time, thinking it would end quickly. You gave the shots but when he continued to cry, you said the cath "malfunctioned," then walked out of the room, not a word about his veins, other options, what's next, only to return with the tech who forcefully held him down to inject thru the other leg. Yes we were upset, but not at all hysterical. I was kissing his ear and telling him I love him, our daughter standing behind me crying, and my 76 year old husband was beside the other tech and you were behind the table. He upsettly asked you how could you make this kind of mistake, our other animals never went through this? A fair enough question considering, yet you take this as a personal berating and couldn't stay professional enough to address our concerns? Had you shown a little compassion at that moment and stayed in the room to have a brief discussion and showed that you cared for what we just went through, I would not had posted this review. I'll always wonder why, if there could be concerns about his veins, did you decide on catheterization in the first place? Our other vets had never used one. Bentlley never stopped crying after that. Why didn't you remove it then, knowing it was no longer a viable option? Why wasn't there even a discussion? Why didn't you simply back off to regroup, discuss a plan B, or simply suggest a reschedule? You can try to justify your actions but he was still walking, eating, and going potty on his own. The reality is that it was your forceful actions that hurt and traumatized our Bentley, not us! We know you have a tough job and you obviously care about animals but this and all your knowledge don't add up to a whole lot when you couldn't show an ounce of compassion, for even a moment, when it was needed the most! Just two quiet words "I'm sorry" and leave us just standing there? Really? And you hope we find peace and closure? How? Need to find forgiveness for you first!

This business provides good pet care, however I give 2 stars to highlight a practice from this business that isn't consumer friendly and that you may care about. Their $25 no show/late cancelation fee policy is the wrong solution to a problem they can't seem to solve and it's alienating customers like me. To penalize established customers for choosing to support your business in these tough economic times seems to go unappreciated. There's isn't even one-time forgiveness. Don't pre-schedule return visits too far in advance when they ask if you live a normal life with time constraints, have lots going and occasionally get behind.

We’ve been traveling through maple valley twice now with our dog and needed to see a vet. Dr Austin is amazing! We were thrilled to just to get in anywhere on short notice, but we’re especially thankful with the care and attention we received. As soon as she walked in the room, she got down on the floor at eye level with our dog to make her feel more comfortable (she’s a nervous pup). After making our dog more comfortable, she was very straightforward with what was going on and easy to chat with about the problem. The front desk staff was very friendly too. On top of it all, I was surprised with the relatively low exam fees. We hope we don’t have any more emergency stops, but we know where we’re going if we’re in the area! When reading other reviews, take into account that they are under new ownership as of July 2019

Update:No one really introduced themselves by name except the kind doctor, so I can't give a shout-out to the kind lady at the front desk for handling my concerns kindly and getting my puppy into an exam room. Once we were inside I felt that the staff treated us exceptionally well. Everyone wore masks, and I think that's why most forgot to introduce themselves, but they were all very friendly nonetheless. I'm happy to continue bringing my puppy here and hope to learn more names next time we roll through. Thank you.9-10-20:So far, as a new patient, they've had me waiting in my car 20 minutes past my appointment time with no updates. I'm about to leave.

The staff is so compassionate! Excellent care for your pets and they really do go above and beyond to help you. I brought my 12 year old cat in for a dental cleaning and extractions and she did so well , she was even happier now more than when I first adopted her :) Thank you for all that you do! You truly are exceptional at it !
