Old fashioned personal service! Zain and Todd went out of their way to lead us around the store and find everything we needed. Zain even discouraged us from buying some plant pots that wouldn’t last and got us better ones at a better price.

Nice little place. They seem to have a lot of stuff in that little facility. Almost everyone in there has been helpful in finding what I needed. Just 1 guy seemed put out that I dare ask him for some help. I have avoided him the past two times I have been in.I went there today for some electrical items. They had what I needed and didn't need any help finding it. I am really liking the small store experience. Don't get me wrong, the big boxes have their place and time when they are necessary, but the local place does well for a lot of items I need.

We wanted a tree for the appointment balcony. Bobby in the garden department was very knowledgeable and helpful. He helped us pick out a great Japanese Maple, a pot and saucer. He talked with us about how to care for and prun our new tree. Thanks so much we love it.

I went there to get temporary post and chicken wire, to protect my little garden from my dog who likes to dig. I found all the seeds and everything I needed, but when I got to the cashier, and I asked about having someone help me with fence and a couple other things, I was immediately told where to go the back of the store to find it. I said, I have a bad knee so I really would appreciate somebody to help me. At that point, the cashier got a look on her face and from then on she was rude. After several minutes of waiting while she went to another register to help other customers, then someone came up maybe a manager, to find out what I needed. She also said it's back there and started to tell me where it was and I said to her, I have a bad knee I need some help. She was also rude and not very helpful. The man who eventually brought the stuff out after I paid for was not friendly, and overall the experience was not very good. I only went there because it's a few miles quicker than going all the way down into Roanoke to Tractor Supply, I had not been too this store in several years and now I remember why. That used to be a southern states, then it became at Ace Hardware Rockingham Cooperative. I will never go back there ever. If I have to go to a southern states I'll drive 30 miles up to the one in Lexington Virginia, or I will continue to drive 25 miles to the Tractor Supply.

Wow, going into the store was such a treat! So many things to see and so many unique items! The garden center is gorgeous! I will be making this a routine stop in my travels!The people are friendly and helpful. Make sure you make this stop a priority!

Purchased a Stihl product from the and it locked up with less than an hour of use . They tried to tell me at first it was my fault because of the fuel I used. Then when I told them it was Stihl fuel in it they made reference of how I was running it was the issue. Then they said if I would’ve brought it back within seven days they would have been able to give me a refund but told me I brought it in on the "eighth" day so they can't help meBoth Stihl and store were not willing to help me at all with the return of the product nor will they even concern the fact that it failed. I doubt very seriously that I’m going to be able to support either stihl or the store any longer unfortunately. The only thing the tech would reluctantly say is the fact that it shouldn’t have failed after an hour but that’s all I could get out of him.I am deeply disappointed in Stihl and Rockingham Cooperative on how I was treated on this issue.04/07/2023Regarding your response: thank you for your two month long Wait for a response. Respectfully, it will not change the fact of how I was treated at your store regarding a defective product.

We are new in town and plan to return often. The garden center was such a surprise. Instead of rows of plants and potting soil,, it is laid out in a way that inspires your creativity. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, helping us understand what will grow well in this region. Highly recommend this place!

Kinda pricey. You have to shop carefully for a competitive price here. But the staff are friendly.Buying chicks here is a crapshoot. Very small quantities and very short season. Virtually no selection. The one and only time I happened see any in the store, they had 3 breeds and no one knew which section of the pen held which breed.Plant selection is nice.

Shopped on 4/7 in search of a tool to help remove my car battery, as my socket wrench handle and battery placement aren't compatible. Asked a sales associate (young man) if I could return the tool if it wasn't the right fit. Times being what they are and having lost my primary source of income to COVID-19, ever dollar counts. The tool ended up not being the right fit so I brought it back a week after purchase (since I only do errands once a week now and only if necessary). I noticed at the very bottom of my receipt that it said they were not accepting any returns, which conflicted with the information the associate conveyed. I was hoping to speak with the associate who worked with me last week but he was not there. I explained the issue to the current associate (older woman with glasses), who said I was out of luck and she would not accept a return, pointing to the signs on the table (which were not there last week). I expected their associates to be knowledgeable of current store policies and have had a good experience with them in the past. I have worked as a sales associate and retail manager, and I know how important it is to communicate correct information to customers. Signage or no signage, there is never any excuse for your staff to be ignorant of changes in your policy. I would not have purchased the item in the first place had the associate told me what has allegedly been a standing policy for some time. I would have been happy with an exchange or store credit but the woman said this was not possible. Incredibly unprofessional and poor customer service. If you don't want to put items back on the shelves right now, have a dedicated storage box and clean items with disinfectant wipes. (In my case, the item was cleaned after purchas and was never taken inside my home). I have never left a one star review of any place before and am sad to do so now. I will not be giving this location any more of my business.

Terrific hardware store that still has that small town feel. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable, especially Bobby and Cynthia in the garden center. I'll stop here and pay a bit more rather than go down the road to Lowes because I know the service will be better and the shopping more enjoyable all the way around.

Bought a chainsaw there last summer. Bought a weed ester 2 weeks ago. Had to wait a while to get waited on. Went today to buy a leaf blower. No one offered to help. This seems to be an issue there. Staff too busy talking to each other and not paying attention to customers. So I went by Northwest ACE Hardware in Vinton. Wslked right in and was waited on by the manager. Won't be going back to Rockingham Cooperative.

Needed some last minute clamps and spot lights for Christmas decorations. The clerk was able to verify by phone what they had that would work since they didnt have the exact item I needed. I showed up and the same clerk remembered the call and took me right where I needed to go. We went in to spend $5 and left spending $62 on other things I didnt realize I also needed. Thanks for your help!

If I could give zero I would. If you want a can of paint it might be ok but it is not a Southern States store. No one can tell anything about any feed you need. They can't even find it in the computer if you tell them what you need. If you have a question you better try Google.

I love this place. Service is great when you need to find something. The folks in the garden section are knowledgable about the plants and willing to special order for you. This place has about all you need for home & yard.

Didn't know I was going into a pet store. Been 4 times and had to leave each time cause of a cat. Glad Lowes is right down the road. I mean I drive 30 minutes to get to the store whats 4 more down the road. I have adressed this to the staff that some people have bad allergies. I guess the cat is more important. Maybe I should walk around till my airway closes up and EMS is called to get the point across. Doing this may...I dont know save someone with a worst allergy. Its a hardware store not a pet store.
