The employees at Starbucks are amazing!!!! Always great drinks and they know what I want when I walk up to the order area.In produce Mario is a wonderful person, and keeps the produce spotless. I always know when Mario has a day off because the produce department goes ugly.

Pick-up service is absolutely wonderful! Always chipper attitude despite rain below 50°. None of our fragile items have ever gotten broken (unlike at Walmart). My only complaint is that their hardworking clerks are not allowed to accept tips! Hourly employees should not be denied a few extra bucks when they have obviously earned it ☹️

The right hand side of the store, beer, produce, Starbucks, bakery area is great. Not as good as harbor view but better than Food Lion. The left hand side with dairy, yogurt, etc is not up to par.

Not bad normally except tonight, despite not finding my usual vegan yogurt that seems to have been discontinued, the lines were loooong with one cashier and an overflowing self checkout. A cashier opened a new line and was completely annoyed she had to do so. I brought two reusable bags and she crammed 90% into one bag, with two milks - so heavy! She was curt and irritable. But the odd thing is, I could smell something off and bleeeh in my car and realized on getting home all my groceries smell like perfume. It was gross and hard to remove. In 2024, everyone knows perfume is the new second hand smoke. It aggravates asthma, migraine and people on the spectrum. Let's get in on this, Virginia, it's grotty and not sexy, especially if one is irritable anyway. That's two grocery stores in the area that do this. Ew, David.

Is okay I suppose, but their isles seem too narrow and I’m always waiting to get by somebody. Also, they allow open carry guns there so don’t be surprised to see a scared white guy packing heat.

Grocery shopping is not fun, but at Kroger most everyone is friendly and polite, which makes the experience better. Employees know where things are, and are very helpful. I also appreciate the self-checkout area - it is ALWAYS staffed, so there's minimum waiting for ID checks or problems. And most of the employees use two phrases you never hear any more, "please" and "thank you." There is another grocery store in town, but their customer service is almost non-existent.

Floors are not very clean. No variety for sub sandwiches. NO mayonnaise packages for sandwiches!! Really!! Employees are nice. Veggies are set up nice, seafood looks good. They would not refund an item from Kroger's in Richmond. It was bad milk I mistakenly bought past the due date, with the receipt. I didn't feel like doubling back to the store, and we couldn't drink any of it, it was full. Wasn't happy about that.

Yesterday I went to the front counter to play Lotto numbers and no one was there. I had two workers come up to me to see what I needed but they couldn't/didn't do anything. They just told me that they didn't know where the person was that was supposed to be behind the counter. So I'm standing there trying to be patient because I have to go to work, I don't have all day to stand around in Kroger. So the lady finally came behind the counter. She took my Lotto slips, ran them through the machine and placed the slips on the counter. Okay, is there a problem with you putting the slips in my hand like I gave them to you? So the tickets finish printing and she takes these and lays them on the counter. Now this is the second time that you have put my stuff on the counter when I'm standing right here in front of you. I have been a cashier for over 20 years in different stores, etc. I have never placed a customer's tickets/slips on the counter unless they ask me to do so. What I do is place them in their hands, the same way they gave them to me. I would have gotten her name but her name tag was clipped to the bottom of her shirt which caused it to hang close to between her legs and I wasn't about to try to look there. The person I'm speaking about is a black female, tall and overweight. The light-skinned older lady with long hair pulled back in a ponytail, usually waits on me when I go to this counter. I've never had a problem with her. She laughs and talks with you and has a pleasant attitude. Maybe you can have her train the other one that is sorely lacking customer service skills.

Employees dont know where stuff is. Asked for Italian sausage and was directed to the baking isle. Despite the apearence of being packed with employees on every isle Store employees refused to open a traditional check out and i waited for an hour until they were willing to ring up my purchases.

Not the best Kroger I've visited. It is smaller than most and has less item selection as a result. Not always well stocked, often there are longer than normal lines for checkout and store feels understaffed most of the time. The Kroger Marktplace in Suffolk is hands down the better place to shop.

Nice grocery store and had everything we needed when we lived in Surry, VA. I loved all of the low carb options of their store brand foods! They closed all of the Kroger stores in NC so it was a nice surprise to have them up here :)Gave a 4 star because the Starbucks staff could be nicer/more friendly. I ordered a PSL recently and it wasn't made correctly and the staff wasn't very friendly. The only they said to me was my total and glared, even when I asked how they were doing that day. As someone who grew up and worked in the grocery store industry, customer interaction is a major part of the job. Without it, you can lose that customer.

Offers great prices and selections. The only complaint that I have is that the gas station BP/Miller's that accepts the rewards card is terrible!!! EVERY single time I go to the gas station to use my rewards card they cannot take it because the pumps are not working right and it has to do with the rewards cards!! Please pick a different gas station to partner with for our rewards cards!!! There's Royal Farms and 7-11! It is so frustrating and ridiculous!

I have shopped at different Kroger’s for almost 20 years and was looking forward to having one here. Selection is not great, staff seem not to know where anything is, and prices are high. Also this is third time I have been there when there is only one cashier open and line was long. I guess they are trying to force us to use self checkout, seems to me they would have more real people on the line, supports the economy with real jobs.

DO NOT ORDER YOUR CAKE FROM HERE!!! I arrived to pick up my daughters cake and they told me that the person who was working there must be on a break because they cannot find anyone in the bakery ... so I noticed my daughters cake just sitting in the counter, NOT being chilled so I went to grab it and quickly noticed what poor, sloppy work was done to this cake!! The manager offered me 50% off... I explained it’s not about the price what so ever it’s about the quality! I ordered this a week prior... since the bakery was closing in one hour I couldn’t even get it re-made... it was Moana themed.. the managers attitude was horrible.. he didn’t even apologize or take ownership of the situation... they don’t realize what an inconvenience this caused me

Allows non service dogs in store. I was getting medication at the pharmacy and a man behind me in a wheel chair had a dog in his lap. There were some other persons with the man. I called to my husband who had dropped me off at the door and was walking up to join me -there’s a dog here. My husband is very allergic to dog hair:dander and I wanted him to know not to approach. My husband choose not join me because of the animal. I spoke to the front end manager about the dog and she said “we are not allowed to ask if the animal is a service animal or not” I know we are in a different world and people treat their pets as part of the family but what about when it infringes on others? This isn’t pet smart this store is for people isn’t it? There is food getting prepared in the store as well as open food on the salad bar. If this is the store policy pets allowed no questions. I will avoid this store when possible.

I am so glad this Kroger finally is open. They have a great variety of items and selections. Please always keep your store clean. There is nothing worse then a filthy grocery store. Please always pay attention to detail, as long as you do that I will be a loyal shopper there.

Haven't been really impressed with this location. I had shopped here every week for the last few months. In my opinion prices are slightly higher than Food Lion, and the produce does not last long. I have bought strawberries, grapes, and other produce that were just freshly stocked and they do not last more than a few days. I decided to try Food Lion's produce out recently, and it seems to stay fresh much longer. I am not sure whats going on or if it sits in storage longer than other places.Today I visited and picked out a few produce items, and once I made it to the bananas, they didn't look like they had much life left, so I put everything back and went elsewhere. Very disappointing, because I think Kroger is a much better brand.

So happy to have a 2nd grocery store in town now. Kroger has become the primary place I shop now! Friendly staff, Lower prices on most items compared to Food Lion. They have pick up available now so I tried it for the first time today, and it was a great experience.

The worst place I've visited. Most time employees have no. idea where anything is and will not assist in helping locate itemsThey now have hired some one to watch the parking spaces. I visited today to pick up several prescriptions, and was told very rudely I couldn't park there. No handycaped spaces were adavaleable, and all 6 pickup spaced were vacant..I told aragant man I was picking up something, I guess several hundred dollars for perscriptions doesn't count. I will never go back there again😠

Happy Kroger is open in Smithfield however having one checkout line open with a cashier issue and a line of 8 carts stacking up with management nowhere in sight is not the way to conduct business at peak shopping time. Very disappointed.

Don't work here lmao. Every time you're sent to clean the bathrooms, its never good enough for them an have you go back an clean them every single time you finish cleaning them. On top of personally targeting their employees and giving almost all their employees barely liveable hours to work, working 10hrs a week, max.

It's unfortunate that in a town this small, with very few places to buy groceries, this Kroger location will not read or process customer requests for products. I have submitted several requests to no avail. I now try and wait until I have a really big list, then shop in larger stores in Newport News.
