Owner Rebecca Gillions runs an amazing operation in Mt. Holly, Va. This hardware /feed /seed/garden/small engine repair and antique store has it all. I've bought seed potato (Red Pontiac, Yukon Gold, Peruvian Blue), red and yellow onion sets plus all me lime and fertilizer. Plan on spending time here looking around because this place has it all and is a lot of fun too.

The store is a bit pricey, but does have a wide variety of items. We waited quite a while for the cashier (owner) to converse with 2 customers ahead of us. A “thanks for your patience, thanks for shopping with us”, some sort of customer service would have been nice.

A one of a kind store! Honestly, whatever you need, this place has. Want feed or seed, this place has it. Need chapstick, here too. Need to mail something off or buy stamps, this place is also a post office. Want to buy a beautiful gift, it has a nice gift shop. While there, you can buy fresh baked items or plants in the nursery. Yup. A one of a kind place.

Murphy Seed Services is my go to store! Supplies are plentiful. Rebecca has wealth of knowledge and is happily willing to share any tips for a garden project. I enjoy exploring the many rare and beautiful furniture and or knick knacks throughout the store.

Unfortunately, the country stores I remember from my youth are truly a dying breed, but this is a rare survivor and fully worth the stop, whether you’re a local in search of some specific bit or bob, or a visitor to the area looking for some local flavor and maybe a rare find from the eclectic antique collection available to browse and purchase from.

This place is a gem in a rural area. It's charming, I love the plants and gardening stuff, but they have lots of gift items, refurbished furniture, and antiques. They are also a hardware store with a decent paint selection. It's great to have this nearby as we are pretty far from Lowes and Ace hardware. They also have some postal and ups services. Wish they were open Sundays, but I understand.

If you like antiques, consignment shops and such OR you need spray paint, a crab net, flower pots, home decor, tools, local art and novelties, keys cut, canning supplies, bug spray or just about any other random item...you will find it at Murphy Seed Services. Three large buildings to explore. It's a true NNK gem.

One of those gems of the Northern Neck. Old traditional hardware and garden store located on RT 202 about halfway between Callao and Montross. Has that old corner hardware store charm about it. We frequently shop there for hardware odds and ends for small projects. Always friendly and helpful staff.Check the hours as they close early on Saturday.

The stars is for the service. The lack of the other 2 stars is the appearance. The place itself is rundown, cluttered, overpriced, hot, and unorganized. I really try to shop small businesses for my gardening and hardware needs to give back to the community. Places like this make it difficult. Just because you're the only supply store around doesn't mean you don't have to try to he the best business you can be or try to please your customers.

Only place in the area to purchase Black Beauty grass seed. I buy all my vegetable seed there with good success of germination & growth. Not cheap, but convenient.
