Good little joint. If you are leaving skyline drive and head towards Madison county I believe.food was good and hot, greasy where it needs to be, yummy onions rings, got a shake but i dogged that pretty quick. People were really nice!

If it's nostalgia you're after, this place does not disappoint! 1950s diner/ice cream shop still in operation. My parents went here as kids, I did too...and now I take my kids here. It's a family tradition! I hope to take my grandchildren here someday as well. It's simple, but always good. My favorite is a BLT and strawberry shortcake.

First time coming here and would not recommend. The fries were cold and stale, the burger was a weird grey color and had no taste at all, the hot dogs were dried out and old almost molded looking. Even the ice cream some how tasted old and freezer burnt. Seriously didn't even want to try to eat any of it.

Very much worth the drive from Elkton to get Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or a delicious meal any time of day. The food is fresh and delicious! The atmosphere sure does take you back. It was very busy during my visit with my guy, to have a bite, it was busy with a few really sweet children with their parents after school, and several others dining in and picking up orders. It sure was nice seeing it so busy and even though they were that busy, the orders were done in no time. Very good food and service. And the restaurant and bathrooms etc. are always very clean and neat.

If we lived near the Freeze, I’d be there every day! I was so thrilled to find an old fashioned restaurant that had burgers and fries and milkshakes and fried chicken and all those wonderful sides that make the South proud. The food is rich with flavor, and the ladies working there just couldn’t be any nicer. And, of course, they have the soft serve ice cream and milkshakes, and it’s all just so delicious. Every time we are in or near Madison, we’re at the Freeze enjoying a meal and some ice cream.

From eating here as a child to working here in my teenage years to now bringing my daughter here, I never would've imagined. The food taste the same, if not better. And of course the shakes, ice cream, chicken with spice and fries with spice are our faves.

Exactly what I was hoping for after hiking all day in Shenandoah - a tasty shake and filling chili cheese fries.There was a nice, well-spaced picnic table area for eating.

Ordered footlong and extra crispy onion rings. Onion rings can't be topped they are delicious! Got 2 milkshakes to go. We used to go every time we were in the area when it was still Tastee Freeze, and went for the ice cream and footlongs. We will all go but probably just for the icecream and shakes because unfortunately due to inflation the costs are on the high side for what we ordered. Almost $30 for one footlong ($8), large onion rings ($8) one grilled cheese ($2.50) sandwich, coleslaw and 2 small shakes ($8). Planned on ordering fried chicken which is made from scratch but prices were higher than I wanted to pay ($1.99 for one drumstick, $3.50 for 1 breast). Those doubled in the last year or two. They have changed name to The Freeze, but everything seems to still be the same which is great. Restrooms extremely clean, staff very friendly, and we didn't have to wait to long.

Friends & I took advantage of the unusually warm weather and decided to eat our lunch outside at the picnic tables provided. We enjoyed foot long chili dogs, fries and onion rings followed by vanilla and chocolate swirled ice cream cones. Yum! The staff at "The Freeze" were friendly & courteous and served our scrumptious food with a smile. Thanks ladies!

In my opinion they are way overpriced. 2 double cheeseburger combos was a total of $26 and something. They didn't have any prices posted on the menu board for the combos, now I know why. Burger was decent but fries were way too greasy, gave a lot but couldn't eat them all. Probably won't be back unless for some kind of dessert and who knows what that may cost.

I got the chicken nugget combo and the fries were more than I could eat!. It was delicious. I also had a chocolate malt that was amazing. The reason I give 4 stars is because of the staff. We had eatin our meals then went back inside to order dessert. The lady working the grill/fryer area told us if we wanted to order we had to go grab the employee who was outside gathering trash and cleaning tables. This said employee had to be asked by me to wash her hands before serving us. Not impressed by the customer service.

Use to enjoy this out in the middle of nowhere food place. Got to drive by there after being out of the area for over a decade so stopped by. To be honest wasn't wowed over. Food offered has changed in its quality from a different food provider used by the freeze. Very noticeable in my opinion. Didn't have the flavor it did a decade ok. Prolly result in the democratic plan to kill the country I'm assuming. That's pretty much what happens when a country full of idiots controls your life, they kill it. But businesses have to survive resulting from poor leadership in this economy and so what do they do to survive, cut food quality cost and who suffers , patrons. Doesn't pass the ( let's go to the freeze) for dinner or lunch as it is killer food as in the past tho. Sorry to break the bad news. Next time America wake up and fire democrats. They are killing everything

Ordered before 3 customers and my little burger basket was put behind the customers i came before. But the way they handled it unprofessionally was so upsetting to me, being as though I been eating at this business since I was a child. Have always loved this place just wish it had more positive outlook and attitude toward their customers.

The food is as good as ever, and the service is top notch! It can take a bit longer to get your order than at some other establishments so plan accordingly, but it's more than worth it.Addition from a more recent visit:The staff here are among the finest in fast food service. The food is amazing, even if it sometimes takes a while. Really it is well worth a trip. However, it might be best to wait until after COVID dies down. No masks on the staff, only two of eight guests had masks, and the best place to social distance can be invaded by people who are not paying attention and/or only care for themselves: in then picture I posted the two white cars arrived last and herded is all against the building so they could park closer.

Great food and I’ve been going to this Tasty Freeze since I was I little guy. That being said, we decided to go look for some ice cream around 8:45 so we checked the hours online and it stated they closed at 9:30PM. We get there around 9PM after a 15 min drive and they say they are closed. I then looked in my phone to make sure it did state 9:30 which it did. I then went back up to the window to show the employee that their web site states a different closing time in a very polite manner. The woman at the window replied with “oh is that google? You can’t pay any attention to google”.........really? Are they still living in 1995? Since when does google or the business website NOT reflect the credit of a business in this day and age? When someone looks at their phone under “google” to look up closing times for a business it should be accurate. If I would have known the store closed at 9i would have not waisted my time and gas to make the trip. The staff that I brought the attention were very rude in the way they handled it and it disappointed me. I hope this is enough to show the staff that they were not thinking about their customers but more of themselves and closing.

As an iconic American institution, this place certainly fits the bill. It has a look and flavor of a classic American dinette, with cheerful old-style signs and seating arrangement to satisfy anyone nostalgic enough for a roadside grease spoon from the 50's. As far as the food goes however, for the price there are far better options out there. An average meal - a burger, fries, and a drink - generally ends up around ten or so dollars, give or take. The quality of the food is not reflected in that price point. The facility is clean, brightly lit; the staff is prompt and responsive, albeit a bit standoffish, with some cashiers having a far-away look in their eyes. Would recommend for an experience, but not for the food or for a regular hangout.

Went here cause i thought it was going to be like back in the day , but the hamburgers taste like the ones you get at caffateria lines . Meat had alot if hard bone or something due to the ground meat but believed to be frozrn. But excelent customer service , excellent drinks and shakes . I believe for the price of the burger you can charge a little more but switch the quality of the meat and this place will be 5 stars cause the staff is great. I feel like the staff are the harder things to control due to personalities but the meat if owner pays more customers will have to pay the diffrents but it will sell .

Can get better chili dogs at sheetz for less. The cheese is like sliced kraft cheese and the chili is the type you can get out of a can at foodlion. Not worth the money.

It's okay; I wish they would practice better food safety procedures. Prices are high for the small amount of food they serve. I probably wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
