This place is awesome. We've driven by a ton of times and never stopped. That was a mistake. I was blown away when we walked in, it's huge inside. The top floor has dogs, reptiles and all the supplies you could think of for any type of animal. They also have a bottom floor with a tremendous selection of freshwater and saltwater fish as well as supplies. It's well organized and clean. We will not be going back to the big box per store anymore.

I love this place! It’s the only place in LYNCHBURG that has live Doobie roaches for bearded dragons. It also has the best horn Worms and really good prices. I got my most favorite dog ever here.

I absolutely love coming here. They have a really wide range of products available for all kinds of creatures. Anything from feeder insects/animals to a huge variety of fish! They always have the cutest puppies. And usually a good variety of small pets like hamsters, bunnies, ferrets, and even degus. Lots of gorgeous birds too. The reptile room is really cool. Large variety of snakes, lizards, & invertebrates. It’s fun just walking around and seeing all the animals, but they also have a huge selection of supplies for every kind of pet. Everything is always well organized and clean. The staff is super friendly.

This is not a bad store for a general pet store. I would say slightly better than Petco, but for saltwater not nearly as nice as your typical reef shop. Very limited selection on fish and no coral that’s any good at all. A fair amount of dry goods, but no deals and not a particularly knowledgeable staff. Kind of exactly what you expect from Petco. Not awful just very average. They won’t be accused of going the extra step for customer service that I can assure you.

They have everything. They have so many different pets and an entire floor of fish, even axolotls! I got a baby guinea pig from here, and he was perfectly healthy and happy! One of the workers asked if I wanted to hold him, and now he's my bestest friend and a wittle angel, and I love him so so so so so sooo much! The only bad thing I can think of for the guinea pigs cage was that it was kinda small and had wood shaving bedding. Guinea pigs noses and feet are sensitive to wood bedding, but everything seemed really clean. My guinea pig and I were meant to be, and I pamper him and cuddle him all the time. He's so smart he does tricks, and he's litter trained! (The photos with the plastic blue house were taken at the pet store before I got him. He was soooo teeny tiny!)😊❤️

This is our happy place!!! They hire people who are very knowledgeable and who care about the care of the animals they sell. We're partial to the aquatic section, where we have gotten bettas and shrimp and other fish, as well as fantastic accessories for tanks. We also got our ball python there and were very happy with the service and the products.It's a huge plus that they're locally owned, and they have a coupon system and sales all the time. Great source for aquatic plants, animal feed, pet toys, and anything else you can imagine.

Was pretty impressed with the place. No gross pet store smell. Nice selection of aquatics but would like to see more of variety. Tanks were clean though. Dogs are way over priced :( I would have bought one but the price was 6k. He sat there for months but overall the cleanliness of the store earns the rating

This place has everything I need for my pets. Senior citizen discount on Tuesdays. Employees are knowledgeable helpful and friendly.The owner of Pet & Aquatic Warehouse responded to my review with these words:"Thank you, Mr. Reyes. We love our customers and just to let you know, we offer the senior discount every day now not just Tuesdays. Once again Thank you for business."When I read this reply I thought to myself, "Terrific, I'm going to return to PAW today (Wednesday) and buy a couple of fish and take advantage of the senior discount." I was shocked when the employee working the register informed me that the senior discount applied only on Tuesdays. She consulted with another employee who agreed with her that the senior discount was for Tuesdays only. Even when I showed them the Google review on my phone they refused to give me the senior discount. There is no excuse for this horrible customer service! What ever happened to the customer is always right! You'd think the employees would have taken the word of the owner as expressed in my Google review.The owner/manger never replied to my negative review even though I was a regular customer, and they had all my contact information on file. I guess they're hoping this negative review gets lost in the mix.

This is probably one of the best pet stores I've ever been in. They always have a great selection of dogs, birds, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, spiders, scorpions, snakes, fish and many other things. The staff is always helpful and friendly. They have a ton of quality supplies for just about any pet you have. Whenever I have extra time and I'm in the area, I bring my kids for a stroll through and it never gets old. We love this place!

We purchased a puppy and on her first night home we noticed that she had very loose bloody stools. We took her to the vet with a fecal sample and found that she had tapeworm antigens and giardia. Giardia is very contagious so I went back to the pet-store to inform them that some of their puppies might have it and inquire if they would help with the vet bill since we were sold a sick puppy (she was very expensive). I had the report from the vet showing the breed, DOB, and fecal results for the puppy, but the owner kept insisting that all if the puppies at the store were "clean" and in order to get help with the vet bill I would need a certified letter from the veterinarian showing her breed, DOB, and the issue (all of which was in the report I had).If you purchase a puppy from them just know that they might be sick. Take it to the vet and make sure to get a fecal exam. It's very scary having a sick puppy especially if you have other dogs.

*might be lengthy-ish*People.... if you get fish from this place and a guy named Steven (or Stephen) works there, ask for him. This guy knows a loooot about fish and fish tanks and everything that goes with it. My wife is pretty knowledgeable but this guy and her talked in a language that's not on Babble or Rosetta Stone. Steve was patient and we could tell that he genuinely likes his job there. Tested our water for us and explained everything well, did not push a big up-sell but gave great recommendations. 5 stars for that guy.

Some of the best selection for pet care items I've seen in the area as well as pricing on most items within the store.Pet prices are AROUND the current rate but the animals seem to be so well cared for the price point is probably worth it

This a very nice pet store. They have puppies , reptiles and a lot of cool fish. We have visited many times and they always take time to let us hold a puppy. They have pet supplies for just about every animal. The staff is super friendly and prices are reasonable

They are a great place to get you dream pet. I just recently gotten a hedgehog and we’ll surprise she was pregnant. That’s the only thing I’d say to watch for because I got a hamster that also had babies to right after getting the one. But still I’m happy and excited for my new bunch of babies!!!

*Review regarding the aquatic side only*Went in to take a look at the StormTrooper clowns. Had the pleasure of getting help from Adam who is so knowledgeable and helpful. We got a clear understanding of what salinity level the fish were currently maintained in, as well as the food they are used to. Adam was also simultaneously training a new hire. P.A.W is lucky to have him, and we went home with 2 beautiful new fish.

Great store! A bit understaffed. Takes a considerable amount of time to get what you asked for. But the staff is VERY friendly. I was able to get a pac man frog that I had been looking for and couldn't find locally and shipping during summer months is not really advisable for a live arrival guarantee. So, it's quite convenient having a store carry several types of animals. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

PAW is exceptional! I’ve been a regular customer for years and found two beautiful puppies their over this time. I recently started my first saltwater aquarium and with the help of Luke and his team, I’ve been able to grasp the concept of keeping my clownfish happy and healthy. Everyone is very helpful and have assisted me over the phone during my crisis times up until closing the store late at night. Luke’s knowledge and patience with me has made this a fun adventure and that keeps me coming back to add more gems to my aquarium. Great team and job well done.Timothy ThomasForest, VA

For anyone worried about the puppies and their breeders here, I actually purchased a puppy from here myself and PAW gives you all the breeder information, their paperwork, lineage paperwork, and veterinary sign off. You have 10 days to take the puppy to a vet of your choice after purchase to do a full exam to find any health issues, and after that you have 3 days to inform PAW of those issues and they will give you 3 options. They will pay for the 1st vet visit to remedy whatever was wrong with the puppy, they will offer a replacement puppy of equal value if you choose, or they will offer a full refund if you don't like the other 2 options. From what I saw during my time in store, the staff are knowledgeable and take amazing care of these puppies. PAW has to follow USDA guidelines for cleanliness and the breeder my puppy came from had the same standard. This means they get inspected often to ensure the quality of their care. The girl working with me was Mikayla, and she could tell me the shampoo, food, treats, and favorite toys of the puppy I picked out, which told me that she really cared about his wellbeing. A place that didn't care, wouldn't go out of their way to provide that information. She also wasn't trying to get me to spend more than I already had on useless items. She actually told me what I wouldn't really need so I could spend less. Overall I am pleased with my experience with PAW and I can certify that my puppy did NOT come from a puppy mill because I have the breeders information which PAW provided. Please don't assume that a place uses puppy mills if you haven't actually tried to go thru the purchase process with them, if you had tried you would get all the information you need.

The variety of animals here is great, however, their prices are extremely high! They are asking $3000+ for their dogs! I mean who can afford that in this day in time? Their ferrots are $250, which is about $120 over the average price. Their birds are between $1000-$2000, which is quite steep! They did have a wide variety of animals that were fun to look at however.

We drove here specifically for an Axolotl. Wasn't sure on anything else other than the star rating which was high. This place did not disappoint. Everyone was very helpful and the price was fair. They ensured we had everything we needed and that we understood how to care. I love that they were thorough and patient with my kids. I highly recommend if your looking for a new pet or supplies for your current pet. They had a good selection of fish (fresh and salt), reptiles, puppies, and rodents.

It seems as though one of the woman staff is personally involved with the puppy sales. She discloses to much personal information about the seller/s in hopes for a sale. It makes the place look like a puppy mill.The aquatics are allowing the axolotls to starve. I go in and the poor animals are famished, floating at the top of the tanks. A lot of them see distressed.
