Jeff is top notch. Great guy, easy to work with, he is quite knowledgeable about his selection of guns and ammo. It is really nice to deal with easy going, honest good folks these days... I have been to several of the “other local gun stores” and I seem to get the cold shoulder, like they aren’t interested in helping me with anything - especially if you ask about something they don’t have on the shelf…. Give Black Dog Sporting Goods a try and you know the difference. Jeff will have my business and I recommend him to everyone I know.

Jeff's customer service is excellent. I use Black Dog for any FFL orders I make online. Transfer fee is $17 for non-NFA items and you can't beat that for price and user friendliness. I highly recommend.

I went there not knowing a whole lot and, of course, because of the great reviews overall. I came in with a handgun and thought I needed something more. However, he said the firearm I have is great and recommended taking classes to gain more experience as well as a conceal carry class. His reviews precede him. He was not pushy or didn't try to push a gun/anything on me, which he could have. I left equipped with more knowledge than I had before, a step in the right direction. A true businessman.

I should have done this sooner! Black Dog is a most EXCELLENT store and offers very competitive pricing! I brought a Browning last November to sell and it was sold in two weeks! With the money I got back, I purchased a Taurus and am highly satisfied. Jeff (owner) is a great guy and folks should support his business! Jeff is extremely courteous and will go out of his way to get you the best deal he can. He has the best price for FFL transfers in the area and if he doesn't have what you want. Then he will do his best to get it for you and of course there is Tiny, I won't go into detail about that you will just have to experience for yourself.

First let me say I'm a member at another store in Lynchburg, and they all have ups and downs when it comes to employees/pricing/stock.But Black Dog is where I buy from for these reasons. Personnel, Pricing, knowledge. Jeff is a great, honest, guy. No he isn't stocked like other places but he will order pretty much anything for you, and FACT it will be less than any other place, even lower than ordering online directly. Not just firearms but accessories as well. He will give you advice, he tell you his opinions if you ask, and when you google stuff you'll find out his opinions are shared by many.

Not much can be said that hasn't already been said... simply a great buying experience. I've worked with Jeff on FFL transfers, purchases from inventory and special orders. All were flawless. Yes, he has VERY competitive prices, but even on those few times he's a couple dollars high, I feel it is worth it for the knowledge, advice and customer service. You can ask any question and he doesn't make you feel foolish - great place to start if you're just getting into firearms. (Family friendly shop - bring the kids in to meet Tiny!) You'd be hard pressed to find a better customer experience in ANY industry. He makes it a no-brainer to "buy local".

Became a customer after W&W told me they didn't want my business (all they had to do was accept a transfer for a firearm I purchased online). Glad they did, because i've been treated much better and had a great experience every time i've been in BDGS. The shop is small and only the owner is working up front, but the couple minutes of wait (not always, but it happens..) is well worth the service provided. Give them a chance to earn you business and i'm willing to bet they do.
