I have had the pleasure of enjoying this retreat multiple times over the years, and many times close to the Christmas Holidays where they go all out in decorating the property, making it look like a natural wonderland! This place is huge! But don't let the size fool ya! The service and care that goes into taking care of all who visit is incredible. And, the Homestead has so much to offer, there is no way anyone can take advantage of them on one stay. If you can't enjoy a stay here, you've got a serious problem! There are so many things to enjoy, it would take more than one review. From great dining in their restaurants, skeet shooting, indoor min-mall shopping that looks like a village, pools, water park, horseback riding - and more. If relaxing's your game, here it is. The springs, sauna, spa, to lounging on the old-fashioned porches, to strolling down beautiful paths, picnicking... Wow! This is highly recommended for families of all ages and romantic seclusion for lovers! Been there a few times and plan on going back many more times. Check it out!

The location for this hotel is amazing. You have the hot springs to enjoy and a ski area as well within a short shuttle ride. The building is very impressive and you can feel the history as you're walking the hallways. There is a large number of activities for the whole family to enjoy. The check in staff was very nice. We got offered champagne and our son got a little care package that included a few snacks and a teddy bear. The rooms in our part of the hotel have definitely seen better days. The shower was weird and we didn't have hot water in the evening. It would be fine in the morning. We did ice skating and outdoor pool on the same day and there was only one person working both. He was clearly overwhelmed but did the best he could with renting out skates to people. That meant he was unable to replenish the towels in the pool locker rooms.Despite mediocre room, I would definitely return to enjoy the hot springs pools, ice skating and skiing.

The resort is nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of Virginia. They host amazing events and offer a variety of activities for all ages. But the highlight of our weekend was meeting Sous Chef Ryan. He truly has a knack for making you feel at home and you absolutely have to try his onion rings in the steakhouse. After meeting Ryan in the steakhouse, head next door to the bar and see Daniel. As of this review, he has been there 3 days and he is already knocking it out of the park. Great service guys! Can’t wait to see ya again!

We did not stay at the resort but came for the atmosphere. Apparently resort has between 3 pm and 4 pm social hour and even walk ins are welcomed. We had tea and mini sconces. I wanted to pay but it was complementary. I like this classic architecture and a beautiful gallery with Corinthian columns with elegant chairs and sofas where you can seat and enjoy the tea. I also bought good books about local natural springs. The staff is super friendly!

It was stunning when we got to the place, it was huge!!Also, a downside is the parking you have to wait 30 minutes just for them to get your car! You have to pay a fee and they insist that you have to pay 35 dollars to do it!there's no other way of getting YOUR CAR! Overall the service was nice we loved the afternoon tea party they even had cookies to make us feel fancy! I just wish there was something other than that that was free! Another upside is the pool it's STUNNING and it's free!and it's open 24/7

It has been a family tradition for a long time to come here but it is been about 7 years. With the hundred million plus renovations, expectations were high. But they were not met. The kids enjoyed the pools and the ice skating. But for a week that is about all that they could do. I don't know if it's short staffed or what, but almost nothing was working or available. We had a large party and everyone that made spa reservations. They happen to have lost them, so many people did not get the services they wanted.Room service is only for breakfast.About 25% of what's in the arcade actually work. All the renovated the rooms weren't as clean as you would want for a luxury resort with hairs on the bathroom floor, etc.The food was pretty good.Anything that you want to do or that you would ask for expect the answer to be no. Whether it was an activity or a bottle of wine off the menu, chances are it's not going to happen. The highs were in the upper 40s the entire week we were there so it was very disappointing that they couldn't make or have snow for any snow activities. We actually spent a lot of time off campus in town so that helped to add some to some things to do. The first night we drove in we were kind of tired and all reservations were booked and long waits for dinner. So we ordered a head to take out from the Jefferson taproom and they got about 60% of the order right. The people are friendly and they do try to take care of you, but it's certainly was a challenge to feel like a relaxing, luxury vacation. The kids enjoyed the kids camp while we had a spa day and since I was there 7 years ago there were no upgrades, the steam rooms were broken, they didn't have any spa sandals available, and it didn't feel like anything had been clean and almost as long. With that said, it was still a relaxing experience with the hot springs pool and everything else you can get with a day pass. I'm not saying this place is bad, just that it's not nearly what it used to be. Even with all the renovations. I believe most of the renovations were infrastructure and exterior so it did look nice from the outside.

TLDR: Gorgeous but just way too expensive for what you get to be honest…So beautiful! Great location, excellently preserved and maintained, and lots of activities to choose from! Everything was very clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful! DEFINITELY TRY THE HOT SPRINGS!With that in mind, this place will absolutely HEMORRHAGE your wallet. For a buffet style breakfast (2 adults) it was $90! Even their cheapest restaurant (Woody’s) ran us a $150 bill for 2 mid quality entrees and a drink each. Food isn’t all that great to be honest, but they know people will pay the high prices because it’s a captive market with the few other dining options in the surrounding area. For the price of everything here, I hate to say it’s absolutely NOT worth the money. Unless you have a lot of disposable income, this place will eat you alive!Rooms: Room was very clean, bed was comfortable, and the views out the window were beautiful! We stayed in February and the trees in the courtyard were lit up with Christmas lights since there was no foliage to look at. Loved that little detailSafety: Never felt unsafe while staying here! Plenty of knowledgable, friendly, staff who are happy to answer any questions you have or direct you to whatever you’re looking forWalkability: This place is a maze! After a day or so you get the hang of it, but it’s initially very confusing. Something to note- the elevators went down three times during our weekend stay, and we were staying on the 16th floor! After speaking with some staff members, we learned that apparently that’s a pretty common occurrence. Be prepared to climb some serious stairs if you stay here!Food & drinks: Food here isn’t anything to write home about. It’s very expensive, servings are small, and I feel like I could get the same quality for cheaper at any local diner or from a fast food joint

Wonderful experience on a weekend getaway with my wife. Clean rooms, friendly staff, good food and drinks. I must mention by name, Amy, at the Serenity Springs Cafe went above and beyond. Super friendly and helpful, and makes the best drinks! I will come back just for her frozen margaritas! Overall had a great time and will come again and recommend to my friends!

Just return from our Easter Weekends getaway the Omni Homestead hotel. This hotels appeals to guests who appreciate historical significance and tradition. While its doesn’t have the most modern amenities, but the charm, timeliness elegance more than make up for it the dated rooms. We enjoyed the serene beauty of its grounds which provides a tranquil retreat for us unwind and enjoy outdoor activities such as golf or hiking. After leaving the hotel, we find ourselves missing it. We can't exactly pinpoint what it is, but there's something about its charm that is unmatched compared to the many luxury hotels we've visited, and will definitely return in the future. We found the hotel's Easter events and activities particularly fun for families traveling with children. There was Easter egg hunts, petting zoo, animal balloons and other lively entertainment. In essence, the Omni Homestead caters to sophisticated travelers seeking an authentic historical experience amidst picturesque surroundings.

Some of my girlfriends and I went to the Omni for a relaxing birthday weekend, and the experience did not disappoint! The service is first class, and the property is breathtaking and immaculate! The food was scrumptious - I loved the afternoon social hour. Of course, we partook in the hot springs...twice! It was such a rejuvenating experience. I felt as if I got a massage. I really appreciated the option to text the hotel with any requests. To which they always responded quickly. My birthday weekend at the Omni was a first-class experience!

We enjoyed our stay at the Homestead in one of the 2 queen-bed suites last week. The hotel was rather quiet midweek so we did not experience any of the staffing issues that other reviewers mentioned. The service was wonderful and very professional. Champagne at check in was appreciated. The new decor is lovely in the grand lobby and other areas, but I agree with another reviewer that the new designer seemed to avoid the traditional Virginia elegant look in the West Wing hallway. (I also took a photo of it as the other reviewer did in disbelief). I hope someone will reconsider and change the carpeting to something lovely like before or at least try to coordinate it with the wallpaper. Of course this would not stop me from staying there again. The hotel historic tour was great with Anthony who genuinely loves this hotel and the renovation of the theater is beautiful. We enjoyed the Audubon dining room with the wonderful pianist and food. Oscar, our server, was so much fun! There is a connection to the gorgeous outdoors even while inside on cold days with firepits and blankets on the front porch and fireplaces burning in the lobby. The large windows in the Jefferson dining room/bar areas overlooking the beautiful back grounds are stunning. We are looking forward to returning there to see the Christmas tree and decorations in December. We appreciate the Omni "rescuing" this grand historic and beautiful resort but hope that the gray-black design that current hotels exhibit does not take over this lovely place.

My Husband and I were at the Omni Homestead for a quick romantic get away. I wish we had been able to stay longer. We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived. Monica and Markell at the front desk greeted us with Champagne and a smile. Our suite was warm and inviting with a beautiful view of the spa and the pools. We immediately went to the indoor pool. The water was warm and felt amazing. Then off to the outdoor pools which also were warm. Hard to image swimming outside in 30 degree weather, but we were and it felt great. For a while, we had the pools all to ourselves. They provide wonderful soft robes and thoughtful amenities at every turn.We choose to go horse back riding and Amanda, our guide was knowledgeable and attentive. It was fun.We also did a private evening soak, under the stars , at the Warm Springs bath house. It was a romantic and magical experience. But thinking about the historical figures throughout time whom that have taken these waters, (as Lisa would say) and here I am being able to enjoy this same experience, it made me feel very grateful to the Omni Homestead for preserving this wonderful place. Then to think about all the everyday people who came for healing, I felt moved beyond words. We were also there for the Valentine’s Dinner at the Audubon Dining room. It is gorgeous! The food was prepared perfectly and our service was impeccable. I wish I had asked my waiter his name so I could recommend himRegardless what you do when you go, be sure and take time for the history tour with Anthony. It is free but I would pay for it. Anthony is that good. My husband and I had so much fun, we have decided to come back this spring. The Homestead is so relaxing, it makes you feel like you’ve gone back to a time of grace, and loveliness. It has always been a Grand Hotel and with all the renovations it is even Grander.Rooms: The beds are comfortable, the water is hot, the views are amazing and it decorated so beautifully.Nearby activities: Hikes, swimming, golf, croquet, horseback riding, a theater inside plus shopping and a spa! What more could anyone want.Safety: I never had a moment of concern about anything. I felt completely safe and cared for.Walkability: You are able to walk anywhere in the hotel and the grounds are so lovely and easy to traverse. Lots of beautiful trails.Food & drinks: Every dish was cooked to perfection! I’m sure I gained 10 pounds in three day time!Noteworthy details: The History of this Homestead and the Warm Springs are well documented with wonderful pictures and paintings everywhere .

Beautiful hotel with great service! We recently stayed for a long weekend with my wife and three young boys. There is literally something for everyone. The boys went skiing one day, swam in the indoor pool everyday, watched a movie in the theatre room, participated in a craft time, enjoyed the happy hour cookies, and went to the Kid's Adventure Center one evening for dinner and activities. They loved everything. My wife and I enjoyed good meals every night, and the overall beauty of the hotel and grounds.Special shoutout to Chef Frederick Ottey and Chef Fred in the Grand Hall. Every morning these gentlemen were so friendly to my young boys. We had to squeeze one last breakfast in before checkout, because my boys wanted to say goodbye to Frederick and Fred. We will be back!

I didn't stay. Our group reserved a table for the Thanksgiving dinner. It was freezing cold outside, the Homestead was lovely and warm and beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The food was stellar ashe it was a lovely experience. Of course, it seems expensive to most-it's about the experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the food selection and the well-trained staff. My only gripe was that our waiter made several Arnold Palmers and sort of forced them onto us who only wanted water. We knew that we could have other drinks but simply preferred water. The drinks were pretty much wasted on us 🤷🏼‍♀️ Aside from the fact that the check-in area needed to be more apparent and more organized, it was perfect.

I have been coming to the Homestead for most of my life and this last time was just so lovely. I have to say that my favorite part was the new pianist, I wish I would've gotten his name. He is AMAZING. I am not one to sit and listen to that type of music but after I heard him I made sure we got a front row seat in the great hall to listen to him with our before-dinner drinks. (he played the nights of December 17 & 18).The Christmas decorations this year were just incredible and definitely the best I have seen there in quite a while. As with all places in the hospitality business staffing is sometimes an issue but my husband and I are pretty laidback and we thought everything was great even with a few small hiccups. The folks working there really work hard. The movie in the theater had a few technical difficulties so that was a little bit of a bummer but I love the new theater upgrades (including a bar!).I wish the outdoor pool were open later for adults.Overall we love this place! Yes it's old, it's historic and magical. The rooms are super clean!! Thank you Homestead!

Pretty good spot. First time I have stayed at an Omni. Hotel has great history, but what comes with that is old equipment. The elevator situation here is a bit bizarre. None of the floors light up inside the elevator. When you request an elevator, the up and down buttons also does not light up. Then, during my stay I waited 10 minutes for an elevator before a bellman told me the elevators were inoperable. Also, if you go during ski season - don’t expect a hot shower at 5:00 PM. Apparently the boilers have a very limited hot water supply.I felt the service in the restaurants was very mediocre, but in 2024 - that’s to be expected. Hard to employee people who actually want to work.Overall, it was an ok experience. Beautiful hotel. Great history. Good activities. Wouldn’t say it was wonderful, wouldn’t say it was terrible.Nearby activities: Skiing, golf, snowshoeing, hiking, badminton, tennis.

Nice facility! Staff is very professional. Beautiful decor. Need improvement on lowering some prices. Especially breakfast. $32 per person for this menu is too much. Although I did enjoy Santa pics.Too much $ at other hotel restaurant for meals offered.More activities should be minimal cost like smores..Drivers are great. Some over priced items in stores. However, nice hotel and staff. One Staff stated they loved their job.Noteworthy details: Several outdoor activities you can do. A variety of activities. But needs lowering $ of some activities.

my husband and I have been coming to this resort for over 20 years. We love it here, and love that it’s such a special place for us. The best surprise we had on this visit was that the Homestead has opened a Virginia wine experience, which delighted us, and has become an Important part of the overall Homestead experience. We spent some time with Quynh and her team, learned alot, and tasted some amazing Virginia wines. Its so wonderful to have a place that celebrates the wine culture of our area (and one that is sometimes neglected, even at venues that boast “farm to table” local products). The wine room itself is gorgeous and a wonderful place to spend an educational and fun afternoon! From experts to newbies, they will tailor an experience just for you.

I came to The Homestead many times when I was younger with my parents and finally had the pleasure of bringing my family. This is our second Thanksgiving and this beautiful destination just gets better and better. It is truly a magical place, the location is beautiful, the staff are so accommodating and delightful. The breakfast in the dining room is amazing, especially the homemade donuts. We spend our days hiking, riding horses, swimming in the indoor pool. The falconry class was such a unique experience and our guide was so knowledgeable. There are endless activities to fill your time! We end our days with a drink by the fire in the cozy great hall and a movie in the theater. Thanksgiving at The Homestead is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season. To all the staff who work endlessly, thank you for all that you do to make The Homestead such a joyful and magical destination. We appreciate you and are so grateful!

The dinning room breakfast buffet was absolutely horrible. I don't know who cooks this, but the only thing that was even remotely edible was the bacon, and at $34 dollars for that garbage never again. Absolutely gross. Hated that I ate there.Food & drinks: Don't eat the breakfast!!

I wanted to surprise my husband for a nice weekend and it was so great! I don’t know why people have so much negative things to say, people are not so kind these days but we had a blast. It was during Labor Day weekend and they had fireworks, movie nights at the pool, live music, tours. We took the shuttle buses to kayaking and the warm baths and both were great! Loved it, we will be back and I hope we have the same great experience!

Updated: While the area is beautiful and the property is picturesque, the hotel is a bit abusive with pricing on just about everything. We came as a family with 3 young ones, as well as our very friendly and docile golden retriever (as this touts itself as a pet-friendly and family friendly resort). I’ll start by saying that if you do plan on bringing your furry companion, note that pet fees are astronomical and you will be forced to go back/forth to your room with your pet, only to have to leave them in all of your stay because there’s absolutely no spot that allows them where you can eat, drink, lounge or anything else for that matter. And if your pet makes a sound, because clearly you didn’t have much choice but to keep them locked up, expect the complaints and stress to ensue. I can honestly say my husband and I spent 3/4 of our trip alternating on who would take the dog back and forth to the room and deal with him, while the other dealt with our kids while being looked down upon by others waiting for their drinks or their car. I suggest the resort either eliminate pets and families all together or make some designated shops, restaurants etc for people with pets joining. The staff is friendly and room service is very good but breakfast for us was VERY expensive and note they charge a room fee plus a 21% service charge, then you are asked to tip on the receipt on top of that. As a family of 5 with an “upgraded” room, it was the farthest thing from that. We barely had any space or enough toiletries for 2 of us. The hotel didn’t provide any complimentary items, not even water, so if you have a baby or toddlers, plan ten times and know you will spend FAR more money than you ever imagined here. The shops are atrociously priced, and there are no swimsuits for kids or adults anywhere to be found if you’re planning or hoping to get into the springs or pools. I made the mistake of forgetting ours in the mad dash to pack us all up into the car, and figured since they say there’s so much here at the Omni, that we would be good. Boy was I wrong…there is nothing here unless you golf and slap on chaps for fun. There is absolutely nothing nearby to shop or find items or outside food (like really nothing), and if you’re a woman and find yourself in an emergency “female” timeframe (if you know you know) good luck as there is no 24/7 convenience shop on site for guests. You will find it very hard to procure female hygiene items, unless you go to one single shop and spend 3 times what any normal store would charge you for such things. It is worth noting, there are fun, themed events and options for kids and families, but the amount of planning and reservations (most of them booked anyway) takes away from any sense of peace or relaxation. Martha’s Market is really the only option for coffee folks like myself and while it was very cute, it was extremely overpriced and the coffee was not the best. No bagels or basic breakfast items for children or anything “healthy”, everything is sausage or fried eggs or heavy muffins. In the room: AC was loud, sink drain didn’t hold water, and toilet would need to be flushed multiple times. So many things broken or lacking. The door to our room was butted almost directly up against the bed (you have about 24 inches to get in)…just a stressful, inconvenient and disappointing stay in more ways than we anticipated. I feel genuinely bad for spending so much and getting so little for it. We would really like to come back again and each year as a family if it improves, because again, so much potential and the area is gorgeous. I do recommend carriage rides. When it snows I’m sure it’s even better. Just save up and budget carefully if coming here with kids especially.Rooms: Very overpriced, many broken things or poor conditions/not the cleanestNearby activities: Nothing much nearby,No convenience items or emergency goods near if neededFood & drinks: Food and drinks are okay, extremely overpriced, very few options for families with children

Wow Amazing. The hotel looks gorgeous from the outside and just painful in the inside. This place is overpriced and 800 is ridiculous for a night. Skiing is closed. Outdoor pool is closed. Lazy river closed. And I can go on. This place was a really unlucky stay. They have a movie theater when the speakers don’t even work this place so ridiculous

DO NOT STAY HERE! The assistant manager David Renaud should be fired. We just returned from 2 nights of hell. We got a suite that had 3 rooms and it tool 30 to 45 minutes each time we turned a shower on to even get hot water. I called manager name David and he said it is an old hotel, boiler is across the street that is normal. This David guy running the hotel because the general manager was no where to be found NEVER said I am sorry- HE DID NOT CARE. We were paying over 1500 hundred dollars a night for this. The person staying next door was smoking marajuana non stop and the smell was so overwhelming it got into all my children's rooms and it was awful. David the manager refused to kick the people out and NOTHING once again was done- we have to endure the awful smell. There was 1 elevator working the rest were broken- so get ready to take to the stairs. When I told David I was going to complain he said good maybe corporate will fix some things around the hotel. after spending 6 grand it was honestly laughable - I didn't have high expectations to be honest but this was crazy and management should be replaced.
