Just what I needed. I actually needed to be in a neighboring town but their new casino and apparently a local race had everything booked and the handful of places that weren't were gouging their prices ridiculously high. So I decided to try a little farther out and found this Hamilton Inn. I was very pleased and now my plan is to book here every time I need to be in the neighboring town. The grounds and rooms are clean and well kept. The bed was comfortable and shower is clean, hot and just enough water pressure. Continental breakfast is what you'd expect. And staff was friendly. And for those who are concerned about WiFi, it's stable and reasonably fast here .There is an adjacent freestanding ER and I did hear a helicopter come and go a couple times. Didn't bother me but it might some.

I chose this hotel because of the positive reviews. The area was lovely. It was right off the highway but there was no noise from cars. The only outdoor sounds were from freight trains.I arrived Easter day so I asked the young man at the front desk of any restaurants that were open. He said he didn't know. Fair enough. Luckily, we found a Food Lion, Subway and Mexican restaurant less than a mile from the hotel.Three things I noticed right away while walking to my room was constant dog barking from a nearby guest room.When I got inside my room to use the bathroom , I looked up at the light fixture and noticed so many dead bugs inside the bowl.I then sat on the chair in the corner & used the adjacent side table to eat my meal. This table/desk slides under the chair but was wobbly so my beverage kept sliding.My husband ate his meal at the actual desk in the room.My biggest issue was the dogs who continuously barked. Many hotels designate certain floors for guests with pets. This one didn't. I cannot fault this hotel for insensitive guests who allow their dog to bark nonstop. However, I brought this to the attention of the front desk who confirmed they received another complaint. Yet nothing was done. My belief was the couple left their 2 dogs unattended in the room for quite some time. Again, that is the fault of disrespectful guests. Upon leaving the next morning during rain, there was a distinct wet-dog smell as we walked down the hallway.

I'm appalled by the way I was discriminated against by the front desk employee who worked at the front desk tonight (April 21, 2024) and the Regional Director of Sales. I have stayed at this location on multiple occasions but tonight was a complete nightmare from hell.I arrived at approximately 7: 30 PM to find out the room that I reserved wasn't clean. I am a Hilton Honors member who books through Hilton as well as third parties to get the best rate. When I arrived at approximately 7: 30 PM the individual working at the front desk stated the room was not cleaned, he proceeded to call housekeeping to clean the room. I heard him say clean the room quickly and in less than 8 minutes. Not only was I disgusted by the fact they refused to change rooms because I booked through a third party, but they also attempted to put me in the same room that wasn't clean. There's no way that a room would be cleaned within 8 minutes and why wasn't it ready when I arrived. The front desk individual was very unprofessional and rude and he refused to contact the hotel manager.I called the Reginal Director of Sales who was just as rude as the front desk employee. He informed me that two staff had called out sick and they only had two housekeepers who had over 20 rooms each to clean. I asked him what does that have to do with the customer when this reservation was booked in advance and that they knew that I would be arriving? He got louder and rude and stated that he was canceling my reservation and banning me from the hotel. Not only did I call the police who showed up at the hotel so that the interaction could be recorded. I have called corporate on both individuals which includes the third party company that I booked with. I have never experienced this type of behavior from staff at this location until tonight and I will never reserve another room there.People may have good experiences there just as I have in the past but what I experienced tonight was pure discrimination which I will also be reporting to the state and BBB. You have been warned and if you think that I am just upset by writing this review. If it happened to me it can happen to anyone.

A clean peaceful and fully equipped place, worth your time and money to stay here. The front desk gentleman was kind and efficient in getting me a room to rest after a long drive and no reservation to rest before continuing my way to ill son.Noteworthy details: I felt safe and clean while here and enjoyed the breakfast. Also was able to park where I could look down on my car. I was very disappointed with the same hotel in Lexington, NC I stayed in on the way back as they not only charged more, no senior discount, offered NO breakfast and a dog 2 doors down barked a lot. The desk clerk woman was very nice and the place was clean, too expensive though, I don't think they used my honors points either.

My family and I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Gretna. Carolyn was exceptional as our check in host and went above and beyond to meet our requests. The town of Gretna had a water main break so the hotel with without water in the morning. Dawn called the regional manager and he came down from Lynchburg to assist the staff and explain to the guests what happened. There was no way this could have been prevented. The kindness and patience of the staff made a difficult situation easier. Thank you to Carolyn, Dawn, Heather and the Regional manager! I would definitely recommend staying here. It was refreshing to see staff who genuinely care.

And incredible experience with clean rooms and a large breakfast. You feel welcomed as soon as you enter, and the decorations of this place are on point. The breakfast is huge. Good place to stay. The room was clean. The only downside was the ladybugs in the room on the ceiling. The front desk clerk stated It's that time of year and there is nothing they can do about the ladybugs. The front desk staff tried to accommodate me by giving us another room but they had more than the room I was in. I killed a couple so I could sleep comfortably but when I got up in the middle of the night they were back this is unacceptable my husband and I had to take turns sleeping. I have been in another hotel down south and never had this problem. 😡 I paid good money for two rooms to have this problem. MAD.Rooms: Great room but has bugs

For our short trip and needs, this place was truly amazing. The room was clean and to our standards, comfortable and spacious. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We wrote down the name of the lady serving breakfast in the morning, but with all our luggage and move, seems as we misplaced it, but she was AMAZING!!! Made us feel at home, showing what can be described as "Motherly Love", turning all guests there into a family.Safety: As a safety and security professional, I felt safe there. RFID access doors to the exterior with self-closing mechanisms, surveillance within all areas, deadbolts on the doors, as well as night latch, this place passed inspection.

This is a review from a short while back. We spent the night while passing through the area on a motorcycle trip. The staff was really good to us. The room was clean and nice. Other than the hot/cold heat/ac issues I get fairly often in hotels. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel.It was kind of like an oasis in the middle of nowhere. At least it seemed that way to me. There wasn't a whole lot close to the hotel that I remember. But I had a nice comfortable place to spend the night. Thank you to the staff who made our one night stay, much more pleasant than it could have been.

We recently experienced a family emergency that required a stay in close proximity to my Dad’s Rehab. We chose the Hampton Inn Gretna and we’re able to position ourselves within fifteen minutes of the facility. The front desk personnel were extremely friendly and helpful, as were the crew in housekeeping. The property is well-taken-care-of, and the structure is updated and clean. There’s also a large, outdoor, in-ground pool, but unfortunately it’s closed for the season. Lastly, if you’re traveling with a pet or service animal, there are plenty of areas to walk the dog. Hampton Inns are exceptional and this one is no exception. This is a beautiful oasis off the road. Every staff member is wonderful especially their Breakfast Ambassador! Superb room and shower and fourth floor views. Loved morning workout in the fitness room followed by a full breakfast and leisurely checkout. For dinner, Moma Rosa’s Restaurant is a short walk across the quiet street. Each of our meals was superb.

Stayed here for the Blue Ridge Rock Fest. Dawn and Tabby were amazing to help us out with some booking issues and get us sorted when we decided to change plans and spend a weekend elsewhere away from the madness of BRRF. Both Dawn and Tabby were patient, kind, and went above and beyond to help some very weary travellers. Easy access to the hotel from main roads, clean, and felt very safe.

Rooms were decent, but: they quoted me 110, actually charged me 130. The housekeeping ladies were absolutely relentless and knocked on the door 4 time in an hour and a half after I repeatedly told them I didn't require the service at that time, and they asked through the door if I was checking out. They basically ran me out of the place. After telling the clerk of my dissatisfaction she just looked at me like "well that sucks", and didn't offer anything except the aforementioned higher bill. Terrible service here.

Our experience wasn’t great here, unfortunately. The room was mostly clean, easy check-in, nice location off the highway, but the walls are SO THIN. If you are a heavy sleeper, you’ll be fine here. But if you aren’t, you’ll hear every footstep, alarm clock, and conversation. There was also this constant ticking noise coming from our ceiling all night that made it hard to sleep.

What an incredibly kind group of people. Customer service never looked so good. Fortunately, it appears natural. Each person seemed to really enjoy their jobs. Kyle is a phenomenal young man. He was personable, courteous and very helpful. I forget the woman's name at the front desk but she was just as nice. I HIGHLY recommend staying here if you're passing through. The rooms were extremely clean and updated. The bed and pillows were comfortable. I ate breakfast and actually enjoyed it. Well worth the little extra you might spend.

We stayed for four day and three nights. The first day we had a late appointment and requested our room not be cleaned. The next day we spoke personally with staff and explained that we would be leaving in an hour or two and requested that the room be cleaned. The two African American women we spoke with said that they would take care of it, but when we returned the room was not cleaned. We proceeded to report the incident to the front desk. The front desk personnel apologized and gave us extra towels and trash bags. We gathered the trash and put it under the sink, which stayed there until we checked out. The next day the cleaning personnel claimed they cleaned the room but the trash was there from previous day, the bathroom around the toilet, and the shower had not been touched. The did empty the trash, but not the sheets. Great location, but be aware that your room may not be cleaned properly.

I didn't expect much from the hotel in Gretna as the city itself had very little in terms of commerce / attractions. We stayed here during the weekend of attending an event at Virginia International Raceway, it was a 45ish minute drive to the track. Hotel rates were good and service was also good. Room was showing since signs of wear and tear but overall was clean and in good working order. The area of the hotel felt safe.

Normally we stay in a hotel in a town not far away when we come to visit family. This time we tried this hotel and loved our stay. We will be staying here from now on! The room was clean, and looked great. The upgrades done made it seem like they want you to really enjoy staying there. The bed was probably the most comfortable hotel bed we’ve slept on. So much so that we complimented the front desk on it. To take is a step further…I can not say enough about the friendliness of the staff. From the front desk, to the breakfast staff to the housekeepers we would see in the halls. They always said hello and had a smile on their face. This hotel knows how to do it well. They are the true definition of hospitality.

This place was amazing from beginning to end. I showed up a bit early, the crew tried to accommodate me but they were unable to as I was real early - They were super nice. Pat at the Breakfast station was "YOUR BEST ASSET" to this hotel. She was super sweet, got us breakfast with a smile and it just set my entire day. Even my buddy traveling with me said he would stay here again rather than an Airbnb. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - Carol at the front desk was great as well. We'll be back!
