I’ve been there two times in the last two weeks. You cannot beat their Chicken Salad Sandwich on fresh toasted bread. Every single employee is very friendly and willing to answer any question you have. They have a huge selection of fresh baked pies, cakes, and Whoopi pies. Large selection of jams, baking items and fresh dairy to include Richland farms milk and real Amish butter. This is the only place within 2 hours from me that sells my favorite soft drink Birch Beer. The only fault I found which is my own problem is that the tables you eat at faces shelves full of every candy you can think of. If you are driving up or down I85 in Dinwiddie, this is a place you have to stop at.

I went in looking for an egg and cheese biscuit and seen everything else!!! This place is the 2024 version of the store in the TV show lil house on the Prarie!!! When you enter you feel blessed!! It's clean and beautiful!! Everything is FRESH AND AFFORDABLE!!! I had a sandwich and it tasted better than subway,Quiznos,jersey Mike's and firehouse subs!!! I got the honey turkey on honey wheat grilled and toasted with mayo, lettuce,tomatoes and pickles. Amazing!!! Peanut Brittle amazing,chocolate chip cookies amazing,PB cookies AMAZING!!!! I Would have bought everything in there but I just needed a good lunch!! Bible quotes on every corner. God blessed this store!!!

Everything here is amazing! Sandwhiches, breakfast, baked goods, shelf products... can't beat them!Their chicken salad is omg good.Their pies are a delicacy.Get a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit topped with sausage gravy. 🤤If you love milk, get a bottle of their cream lined A1 milk. 🤩Parking: Huge lot, free parking including handicap spaces up front.Kid-friendliness: Perfect country store, very kid safe.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy entrance, no rise or stairs.

Fresh and homemade bread (rye, sourdough, honey wheat, and white) for the delicious sandwiches and purchase. Everyone is very friendly soon as you walk in the door. A lot of treats, homemade baked desserts, jarred items like jellies, honey, pickled items and more. A drive worth making. The breakfast sandwiches ( bacon, egg and cheese) and brunswick stew is delicious. Everything that I have had thus far has been delicious and there's a lot to choose from. Every time I've been there I've tried something different. Other items purchased - Candies, pickled cauliflower, homemade peanut butter marshmallow spread and a club sandwich.

This store is my absolute favorite!! They have an AMAZING deli and make THE BEST sandwiches!! Their employees are friendly and make you feel welcome ALWAYS. Their homemade desserts and breads are always fresh and taste great and they have an awesome selection of local goods from soaps and coffees to sausage and eggs and anything in between!! A true gem of a store in Dinwiddie!!!

Off the beaten track on historic Rt 1, this deli/store has lots to offer.We had breakfast--a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on sourdough bread and biscuit with sausage gravy. Both were very good. We also picked up some molasses cookies and some candy from their big selection.

Always love stopping by. Awesome old-fashioned country store. Go to stop for jerky, candy, or jelly fix. The fresh made deli sandwiches are worth the trip 5 times over. Fresh bread and baked goods on hand. It is always a pleasure to support local businesses.

Mennonites operate Route 1 Country Store in Dinwiddie, Virginia, and for those acquainted with the Mennonites and their values, that will be recommendation enough. But each restaurant must be accorded its own evaluation, so I will say that my lunch here was not only one of the most pleasant experiences I have had in my travels, but that the entire establishment is spotless.I had posted a lengthy and circumstantial review here earlier, but in attempting to add the two photographs attached here from my cellphone, I rather stupidly managed to delete the original review. The photographs are important, not because they are particularly good, but because they will give you an idea of how modest Route 1 Country Store itself is: I drove past it myself two times before I realized I had arrived, and the dining--and shopping--experience is one you do NOT want to miss!Fortunately I think almost everyone in Dinwiddie County will be able to help you if you DO get lost, as probably most of them shop and dine there regularly themselves. I was initially advised to visit by asking a postal service route carrier where I should have lunch, and she gave this as an instant response, in addition to perfectly good instructions as to how to get there--but she neglected to mention that I would have to look sharp from the highway, as there are no flamboyant signs to help!Other reviewers thankfully have posted many photographs of the menu items and of the hundreds of home-baked pies and cakes on display, and of the other goods available. Take a look at them before you go, because when you arrive you will be overwhelmed with the beauty, variety and delectability of the merchandise (I know I was). For lunch I chose the Barbecue Sandwich Combo--barbecue on a homemade bun, choice of chips, choice of beverage--for about $12. This was Virginia-style pulled pork barbecue at its best, with the tomato-based sweet and spicy barbecue sauce and fresh coleslaw on the bun. The portion is so generous that I don't know how I finished it--I took my bag of Route 66 potato chips home with me, as I couldn't have fitted a chip in--and believe me, only my being stuffed mercifully enabled me to depart without buying a truckload of the pies and cakes that I had been admiring throughout my meal!I hope I have given sufficient warning to the thousands of you who I hope will follow me for this wonderful dining experience! And if you do NOT have diabetes, go ahead and bring your pickup trucks and your sweethearts and load up on the goodies! Route 1 Country Store is READY FOR YOU, and it is more fun (and probably more wholesome) than a county fair!

What a great selection of items. Love so many of their homemade selections. We also ordered sandwiches to go and they were awesome, plenty of meat and cheese on sourdough bread. We try to stop by every Friday we can on our way to Lake Gaston.

Modernized, but a fun walk back in time. Sandwiches are great! Wide variety of foods, snacks and merchandise. Small local vendors have product in the store. Most of which are displayed very nicely. I've had their breakfast biscuits a few times. They are great too...and huge! I do feel like they are a little pricy on their packaged products. But other than that, it's a great place to go and you are likely to find foods and ingredients (spices, spice mixes) here that you will not find in other stores. ALL of the employees are super nice! And it doesn't take but just a couple of times of you ordering before they know and call you by name.

We frequently stop by for lunch on family outings. You are always welcomed with a smile and greeting. Great made to order food and plenty of treats for everyone. Weekends they have fresh doughnuts that are incredible!

The sandwiches are the best around this area, nothing like them! Plenty of meat, cheese and condiment choices, you build your own although they do have specialty sandwiches. So many sweets and candy to choose from. Also, the donuts are available Friday and Saturday and they are fresh out of the oven😋
