Sean and Ronda are the most amazing people. Their family owned business is both talented and professional. Sean isn’t the normal lumber flipper trying to make a quick buck. His drying process is phenomenal and you’ll never have an issue with moisture when you buy lumber from him. And then there’s the craftsman side of Black Forest Sawmill. His tables, boards, furniture, are all incredible. You will not be disappointed no matter what you buy from them!

Fabulous hardwoods for any purpose; 2 warehouses of lumber. Store is very well stocked and is engaging for non-woodworkers. Great proprietor (call Sean in advance to see if your visit matches his schedule… he is a fount of knowledge and a treat to talk to as he may have time). His sawmill is a couple miles away. His kiln process is slow & deliberate to retain the finest colorings and grain distinctions in his quality wood holdings; beats the slam-bam over heat to get-the-humidity-down competition. Of course, he has a several year backlog due to the care he delivers.

I have so many great things to say about this amazing sawmill located in the beautiful mountains of Virginia. The owner Sean and his amazing wife Ronda are the most warm, humble, giving, and hard working people I know. My husband lucked out meeting him first years ago. Also, my husband who is an avid wood worker was in awe of his operation. We have purchased several pieces of beautiful wood from Sean. This is the only place we will purchase wood from. His craftsmanship on what he makes just amazes my husband and I. Highly recommend this business. Also….his customer service does not go unnoticed. Impeccable.

Great people, awesome finished product, and frankly unbelievable hardwoods. These pieces were resawn from a cutoff that I got on my visit. Prices are reasonable, and you can see the crazy grain pattern for my next charcuterie boards. Since I don’t get out that way often, I also order online. You really can’t beat the value.

This was my first visit to Black Forest Sawmill, and it was a great experience. I picked up several slabs of ambrosia maple and a nice slab of walnut. When I started building river tables I was told to check these guys out and I havent been disappointed.. I thought shipping a slab from VA to MS would be crazy and it really isn't. When I get a slab delivered its kiln dried, surfaced to be flat and all I really need to do is some final sanding and trim.i g to suit my needs but usually when I order it comes damn near ready. They are also quick to respond and very helpful with advice so I give a astounding hell yes I'd recommend them.
