Writing my first review to just say that this location, with its wonderful staff and compassionate groomers, has been a gem for this neighborhood for the past 3 years! We took our dog Charlie here for grooming until he passed away (after which they mailed us a sympathy card) last year. I'd like to think their care of him (ranging from recommendations for treats and wet food for his waning appetite to his regular nail trims) really made his last few months better than I could have ever done alone. Our newest (pandemic) puppy will also be a regular visitor as I know she will be in great hands!We love you Loyal Companion! Don't stop being amazing!

Sarah is just THE BEST! We recently moved to Connecticut which doesn’t have a Loyal Companion. When my dogs were experiencing horrible allergies in Virginia, she introduced me to Farmina’s Skin & Coat (venison & quinoa) which allowed them to get off ALL allergy meds & shots! In order to continue this life-changing diet in a place without the availability of this food, she now orders it for us & my husband or I pick it up when we are down in the area. Now THAT is amazing customer service! Her knowledge & care can’t be beat! I hope the corporate office takes notice! Thank you Sarah! XoXo Wally, B & their parents

I have been to this location multiple times. The service and knowledge is outstanding. I have never received so much care for my dog, Pebble. The staff truly takes pride in their service to the community. Huge shoutout to Sarah and Marco for making this Loyal Companion one of a kind.

I came here to try and find a dry food for my very picky, very food-sensitive cat, and while the food I bought ended up triggering an allergic reaction for my girl (which was NOT the fault of anyone at the store!), the employees were fantastic and super helpful. I really do recommend this store to anyone who has questions about specific dietary needs, the employee I spoke with helped me pick out a food based off the needs of my cat and my budget- it may not have worked out, but she spent much more time than she had to trying to help me find something that would work. They also told me that if my cat had a reaction to the food, and the bag was still half-full, I could get a full refund on it. The customer service here is incredible and I definitely recommend them to anyone in the area.

My husband and I are in here at least once a week. The products are all top-notch and the store manager and staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and very helpful. I would highly recommend this store.

Extreme poor customer service at this Loyal Companion location. Especially from the store manager (I believe her name is Sarah).Have been taking my dogs for grooming at this location for the last few years. Mostly a single groomer on staff (Marco). Although a skilled groomer, given his limited schedule availability, getting an appointment is super difficult (unless you know your schedule for 2 months in advance and can afford to keep the dogs not groomed for such a long period of time).Every time I call the place and have the misfortune of Sarah answering the phone, before I even get to speak, she dismisses me with a “your dogs have anxiety, we are booked for 2 months in advance”.I guess sharing info on our dogs’ personalities equates with an “anxiety” automatic label. These labels come from a place that advertises itself as a place where they encourage customers bringing their pets to simply stroll the store and socialize with other dogs.Our friends stopped taking 3 of their dogs to this location for grooming but I tried to keep an open mind. I have been very generous with tipping the staff and instead of establishing and maintaining a mutual long term relationship, we only get poor customer service.The latest … and most likely last … interaction with this location was with the store manager. Without any pre-notice, the store canceled my dogs’ grooming appointments that were made 2 months in advance. Albeit the 2 months gap between appointments is because that is all available on the groomers’ schedule. The tip of the iceberg was the manager’s explanation that we don’t bring the dogs often enough and cancel appointments. As the illogical statement was not enough, the store manager insisted that the rationale for cancelation was due to our own repeated cancelations and long gaps between appointments. I asked to quantify the “repeated” part of her statement and it turns out that was another store-generated cancellation because the groomer wanted both dogs to come at the same time & day together but the clerk scheduled them for separate times. Maybe some dogs can go without a grooming for longer periods of time but that’s not something my dogs’ coats can afford.The perpetual “your dogs have anxiety” is too much. I don’t believe the store manager is a vet. Yet she engages with my family as if more experienced than our vet in diagnosing my dogs … just from occasionally seeing them for few minutes while she conveniently accepts our generous tips. I did ask to speak with the store owner and Sarah insisted that she is the store manager and the decision maker. Looks like being customer centric and revenue consciousness are not top priorities for this location. I am happy to pay over $300 per grooming session but not when it comes with a side of “let me lecture you” and being spoken to like I belong only to the not worthy of respect - margin of the society.From reading previously posted reviews for this location, seems like other customers had similar experiences and chosen to take their pets elsewhere instead of being lectured the moment they set foot inside the store.As I told my children, nobody puts our dogs in a corner and negatively labels them. There are plenty of other businesses where both the pets and their owners are treated respectfully.

We took our 6-8 month old puppy there twice, the first time the haircut was good, but the staff was very rude and inquisitive about how much we were feeding him, what type of brush to use, to get him groomed every 4 weeks (despite early on COVID timing) , and to never cut him ourselves. Our dog is amazing and never got anything close to this feedback from anyone.The second time we came back hoping not to get into any more debates over dog health/training and again were told we weren’t feeding him enough (we are feeding him 50% more than the vet recommends), to use a different brush immediately, etc etc.We showed them a picture we liked of the first visit and the groomer was shocked they did that and said we need to do something different this time and ended up cutting him much shorter than we discussed.Despite the convenient location, it’s not worth to be ridiculed for things that are inconsistent with vet opinions, etc.

The staff always tries to be helpful. I subtracted a star because as a cat owner, I'd prefer that the staff be more familiar with the cat foods they sell. If you're a cat-person I'd recommend the Leesburg Pike store over this one.

Very friendly staff, and they know their products. Groomers A+(only had nails done tbh)!!! At Kriser's not only do they do a great job, but they are actually shorter unlike when our previous vet did it (pretty sure they just filed and charged full rates.)

Falcor, my pup, has been getting groomed by Marco for years. There is no one better in my opinion. Besides doing a stellar job his love & passion for animals shows. Thank you Marco, we adore you.

Nothing but top notch professional and personable help. Our dog was having digestive problems...Arash suggested a “slow feeder” dish - something I never even heard of. That did the trick - we are very grateful to arash for that wonderful recommendation. Everyone one else I’ve encountered at LC is great. Cherie helped measured and fit my dog with a harness and loaded big bag of dog food in my car. Thank you LC team! Michael

They will add 'de-matting' fees without notification up front or afterwards. 13 dollars every 10 minutes they work on dematting. Ridiculous and lack of transparency is disappointing.

We love bringing our pup here for grooming. Marco, and the entire staff, have done a great job. Marco is great with Mobitz (our pup) and Mobitz really loves to see Marco. I HIGHLY recommend the Lee Harrison location of Loyal Companion. Ask for Marco!

Unfortunately, this company's parent company continues to mislead people by using the Dogma trademark in their advertising in what appears to be a concerted effort to confuse consumers. Dogma Bakery in Arlington and Reston, VA is not now Loyal Companion despite their ads indicating otherwise. Happy to take down my review when your company respects a small business and trademark law.
