Let me start by saying I used to work at HT and they could not stress enough the importance of customer service. So I walk in and walk to the sandwich bar. The lady immediately says "We're closed." I asked what time they close and she said 7:00. It was 7:03. She was currently adding new lettuce to one of the bins. There was still bread out that they were going to throw away. Before covid this would have never been acceptable. The days where HT was the top of customer service are long gone. She hadn't even cleaned up her area yet.

I usually regret coming to this Harris Teeter. The selections are always limited. This review is particularly for my last three visits. They didn’t have what I was looking for even though they were common products. The meat department customer service is particularly bad. Usually when I go (around 5 pm) there is nobody to help out. One occasion I pressed the help button and nobody came, I asked another employee and he just pointed at the button. After a few minutes Sheyma from the bakery went the extra mile and helped me. Only reason I am not giving a one star is because of her

The store had a slight-to-moderate sewage smell. Within minutes of walking into the store, I swatted fruit flies off my cheek and the back of my neck. After less than ten minutes in the store, my clothes were crawling with fruit flies. After I left the store, I found more fruit flies on my shirt, shorts, shoes, socks, and legs. I wouldn't shop here unless you're buying something that is packaged and sealed, and you're willing to possibly bring an infestation home with you.

A nice, clean store with well stocked shelves. They had what I needed and I was in and out quickly. A good experience.

Not a bad store, but their selection is limited and often the fruit selection is meh. Also they have no vegan cheese, which is surprising! I told customer service they should replace some of their lactose free cheese with vegan cheese, but I guess they didn't like my suggestion because there's still a ton of lactose free and no vegan cheese. At least they have a decent beer selection.

2 days ago I stopped by this store and bought 2 California Pesto pizzas (see photo) . I thought that the price is the same as posted for the other California pizzas . After I paid I found out that I paid $9.99 for each . The manager could not help me return it nor replace it because she said the costumer service close at 10PM.Next day I had to spend gas and unfortunately time arguing with day manager to explain my case . After 30 mn of argument and frustration, she decided to accommodate .But why should I go through all this ?Button line If the store is open it should be able to adjust prices for clients or replace items. Asking clients to drive back and deal with all what I have been through is unacceptable 😞What if I m not local ?

WARNING: they do not accept Apple Pay. If you run in there for a quick trip like I did but forgot your wallet you will be out of luck. But first you will be treated to a cornucopia of buffoonery and incompetence by every single member of the staff. First you will be told to hold your phone to the reader. Then, when that doesn't work and the attendant just stands there like a dumbstruck moron, you will have to suggest that they transfer your purchase to another machine. When they do, and that still doesn't work, they will again just blankly stare at you with an quiet apathy that will destroy your soul. When you suggest that they then call a manager, the manager will also go through the same non troubleshooting techniques that don't work before he finally posses the ultimate question of "do you have any other forms of payment?" What a genius question, why hadn't I though of that? At that point, and only then, will you get to see the laziest and most indifferent employee in the whole story, the general manager. She will explain in a know it all voice that Harris Teeter has never accepted Apple Pay, at which point you will inform her that you had used it there previously many times. She will then dismiss your experience and say that it's disabled and will then give you the same blank soulless stare that everyone else gave you.Oh and they didn't have ANY salad at the salad bar on a Saturday afternoon. This place really, really sucks.

This is grocery store, restrooms should be clean and spotless at all times, men’s bathroom is gross, management need to put more attention to it or corporate needs to renovate the restrooms… t

Harris Teeter is about midway between Whole Foods Market on the high end and Safeway on the low end in the DC area. Harris Teeter seems to be a little more aggressive about what kind of retail space is suitable for a grocery store, so they tend to have multiple entrances, confusing layouts, multiple floors and so on. But they all have the same items even though the items are in different places in each store. The in-store bakery looks pretty impressive from a distance, but most of the baked goods just aren't that special. They do typically have fresh bread pudding which I like a lot.The beer selection also looks good from a distance, but carries a lot of second- or third-rate brands. No comparison with the smaller but higher quality selection at Whole Foods, and completely out of the running compared to an average DC liquor store. Better than Safeway though. I suspect most beer purchases come from college students or interns. The staff have always been knowledgeable and helpful. The checkouts are a bit unusual but work well.

This is a terrific neighborhood store. Having a pharmacy a real plus. I can do a lot in one place. The staff is very helpful, they not only answer all questions they will take you to the product you are looking for. Parking is covered and plentiful, you can always go up a level and take an elevator. The pharmacy is great.

They have just about anything you need but the spell of rotten food and fish is so overwhelming. I live in the shirlington neighborhood and this is a quick walk away from me but I can't take it anymore. I'm going to start driving to another grocery store just so I can breathe.

This Harris Teeter is convenient and well-stocked for basics. The meats and produce are fresh. The beer and wine selection is pretty solid. You should know: The store is smaller than usual Harris Teeters—though it works for its location. The layout is awkward with a second floor (no idea what’s up there. Never ventured bc I usually have a cart or kids with me.) The checkout lane waits can be long. Look for the (practically secret) self-checkout on the far exit of the store.

Now that they have transferred that idiot store manager I encountered sometime back I am back shopping at this store. Everything in stock as advertised, some good specials and some really helpful employees. A big shout out to Kenny who works primarily restocking dairy. He is always most helpful and approaches customers to help them rather than waiting for them to ask for help. Great employee..!

Best ever Grocery store in twenty miles. My wife was GM of whole foods. She talked about howa good store is run and I work next to this store. Everything is perfect. Especially the employees. Always friendly, kind and helpful. Beyond being polite. I feel I'm welcomed.

I got the best customer service today from this specific store. I had some issue that I needed to be taken care of involving money order and Miss/Mrs. Wendy Jo, first of I really wanna say thank you for your great humility and personality, she took her time and dealt with me and solved what I needed. This are the kinda of employees you have to keep so that we will come back again and again, and I just wanna say Miss/Mrs. Wendy Jo is such a gem for this specific store. Thank you again for the best customer service.

Shout out to Aness (manager) and Cat.Last weekend I had 4 orders in and instacart did not get it right. Called headquarters and outside of refunds the supervisor at headquarters never called back as promised. It took Shirlington managers to help me out.I can't thank you enough !!!!

A great harris teeter location. It looks small but has everything you need! Prices are hit or miss, but if you go when the stuff you want is on sale, you’ll get a great price. I love this location.

Top marks & mentions for the Staff - despite other complaints, the Staff has always been exceptional & hardworking, no matter the time of day (or night!). Regarding the store, it's small for a modern Supermarket & usually overpriced. One almost gets the impression that it is a convenience store for the residents of the Delancey Apartment Building & Condos, which are located in the same building as the Harris Teeter. As mentioned above, most items are priced at a premium, and often only one or two top tier brands are available. However, and quite interestingly, the Dairy products have always been rather reasonably priced. Other than these complaints it's a good store, and as stated it has an exceptional staff that is always friendly & ready to assist 24 hours a day.

Understaffed, overpriced, and cramped. There's literally no reason to shop here unless you live at one of the apartments nearby. They're constantly running with a skeleton staff of 1-3 cashiers. I was just there at 4 pm on a Friday and there was a single cashier open. Another one showed up eventually, but that's 2 of 5 registers open at one of the busiest times of the day. The lines were 15 people deep and there's nowhere to queue so people end up way back in the aisles, so you have to fight through them to get to the exit. The lack of cashiers causes people with full carts to go to the other end of the store for the self checkout and clog it up buying 30 items at a time. With the 15 minutes I spent waiting in line I could've driven to a cheaper store like Giant or Shoppers. The aisles are narrow and the lighting is bad - so bad that even though it's open 24 hours, the first time I went at night I thought they were closed because it's so dim inside. The lights are noisy and the store is silent. It's a weird atmosphere. You're paying a 20% premium on everything for the convenience of a neighborhood grocery store, but if it takes so much longer to get through the store and check out, it's not convenient anymore so why are you paying the higher prices?

It was great. The staffers are always helpful, loving and kind greeting u like family. The only thing is they don't stay long n I miss that. You see it's the employees that help make the money for grocery chains because it's us that draw the people in and for the love for our manager who loves us, we become a family.

Love this Harris Teeter! We've been using their express lane option to pick up our groceries, and it's been wonderful. The employees are kind, considerate and do their absolute best. There's no instacart mark-up either, you get the usual Harris Teeter sales and prices and pay a flat fee. I drive from Maryland each week to get my groceries from here and will absolutely be continuing

The folks at the deli department are AWESOME!! I go in sometimes for Boars Head roast beef and they slice it just right and they have the best attitude.

The first thing is that it is convenient. I use the pharmacy here and the hours are good for the pharmacy. The food selection is low, especially in the produce--mostly because the food sits and gets old. However, I have had some really great customer service here from the women in the bakery and in the deli. There was a man who worked in the bakery who was a dick, but for the most part, the rest of the staff has been polite and helpful.

This place is ok if you just need a quick grab of something and you know what you want. But if you want major groceries this is not the place to go. The staff (managers) are rude and they never have enough registers working that take your credit cards and who carries cash anymore?? Produce sucks and it always smells horrible inside as soon as you walk in. Not sure if I would buy from the salad bar but that's just me.Management needs to take a lesson in customer service and put down the cell phones and do their jobs and maybe this place would be helpful to their customers but I doubt it.Over all it has the few things I need and I can walk to it when I need those things so that's why they get two stars.

Until today I enjoyed shopping in Shirlington Village Harris Teeter. I encountered very friendly staff always willing to help. However on June 11, I had bad customer experience, one of the employees in charge of the produce, when I asked about the price of the potatoes (no price tag on display) he by guessing told me the price, didnt bother to check. I went to the register to check out, price was much higher. I went back with bag of potatoes to choose different kind with visible price. I told employee in charge of the produce actual price for that bag of potatoes, he ask me “why I’m telling him that” repeated few times. I’m not the person who likes to argue, just told him “to express my outrage about high price”. When I got back home I called the HT management, they apologized. I told them this is not a standard I’m expecting from Shirlington HT location.BTW Elevator is very dirty.

Nice little store. My primary grocery store. It's attached to a parking deck so there's no need to go out in the weather. It's clean, the service is good, and it has pretty much everything you'd need (including a pharmacy). The only reason I withheld one star was because some other stores are larger and have a better selection. I'd have only taken a half a star if I could have...

I'm usually a huge fan of Harris Teeter, but this has to be the worst HT I've shopped at, which sucks because for now...I live close by and it is convenient. Almost none of the cashiers seem to smile or display that they really want to be there. But not everyone is unfriendly, the people in the meat department and some of the stockers are very friendly. In terms of stock, if something is gone from the shelf, it does take them a bit of time to restock. And they don't seem to keep prepare for their ads well. I went on the first day of an ad cycle, and things were already out of stock. Overall, this store exists and probably does really well on its location....not because of its service.

Filthy inside (lower floor) and out. There is no pride in keeping the store clean or welcoming customers. Some of the staff at the front desk is rude and defensive when you ask a question. The olive bar, produce, meat and egg sections are gross. The area where the carts are kept is super dirty with bird droppings. During the pandemic, the stock of necessities has been poor relative to many other stores. This is the paper products aisle at the 7 am opening. One of the three self checkout registers has been broken for weeks. Just not customer service-oriented. Shoutout to the guy in the dairy/cookie/bread/eggs section. He stands out with his consistently helpful and friendly demeanor. The pharmacists are great to work with.

Huge grocery store that is somehow hidden in Shirlington. Super clean and plenty of parking except on weekends. Usually go for Aldi's for price but this is a great store if I was in a rush.

Good selection on two floors. Very maze like since it's wedged into a corner building. Keep track of the door to find the registers. Third floor of garage has the most spaces.
