Highly recommend Altavista animal hospital! The staff are extremely sweet and friendly. They went above and beyond for my 2 year old GSD and I. One of the quickest vet visits I’ve experienced, don’t let the quickness of the vist fool you they were still very thorough and listened to any concerns or questions I had without rushing me. They let you stay with your pet for the process of checkup and shot (never expected that before and it was lovely to be able to see how my dog actually behaved so I know what I need to work on with him for futuer visits) If you’re new to the area or looking to switch vets this is the place to take your four legged babies. The overall cost was very reasonable priced as well.

I recently visited Altavista Animal Hospital with my dog Joker and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with their service. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and had a wealth of information about my dog's health. They performed medical procedures in front of us, which was very reassuring.The hospital has state-of-the-art equipment that made the entire process smooth and efficient. The staff was honest and communicated effectively, which made me feel comfortable and confident in their abilities.Overall, I would highly recommend Altavista Animal Hospital to anyone looking for excellent veterinary care for their pets. They truly have a passion for animals and it shows in the way they treat their patients. I give them a 5-star rating for their excellent acumen with my dog Joker.

I really liked everyone there! The guy at the front counter was super nice and helpful! What I loved is 2 of the girls that work there came up and started playing with him. They see tons of dogs so I thought that was sweet . The vet was very nice and down to earth telling you what was up and how she’s going to treat it. I was In and out in less than an hour. I highly recommend this place!

GROOMER/VET INJURED MY DOG & LIED ABOUT ITPlease do not take your pet to the Clipper's Nook or Altavista Animal Hospital where she is located. They have hurt my poor Goldendoodle Sully and then lied to me about it. His face is covered in bruises and his right eye has hemorrhaged very badly. I dropped Sully off at 9am for a bath & haircut. By 5pm, I hadnt heard anything so I called to check on him. They told me he was absolutely fine. I picked him up 30mins later & the groomer told me he had an "allergic reaction to the cleaner on the clippers" I saw clipper burn & bruises on his snout & then noticed the terrible state of his eye. The white of his eye was completely purple and bulging out of the socket. He was terrified & shaking. I told her it looked like his eye had been damaged or cut somehow. She said she had the vet look at it & it was just an allergic reaction. The vet gave Sully a steroid shot (without my consent or even any prior communication). I asked to speak with the vet who confirmed all of this & told me to wait 10-12 hours before "overreacting". I took Sully home & called a vet in Chatham who agreed to see him immediately as I was worried he might lose his eye. The Chatham vet examined him thoroughly & said his injuries were obviously caused by trauma. A blow to his nose & eye. There are also indications that he was choked. She sent him home with anti inflammatory meds but it will be weeks before the physical damage to his face will fade. Who knows how long before the emotional trauma will heal. My sweet, super friendly and goofy boy is in pain, terrified of being touched or any of his favorite things to do, & is snapping/growling at our other pets. My heart is so broken for him. I signed a liability waiver before I dropped him off, so I doubt they can legally be held accountable for this, but I need to make sure other pet owners know the danger your pet faces when going to The Clippers Nook or the Altavista Animal Hospital. What experienced vet mistakes obvious blunt force trauma for an allergic reaction? Even if it was somehow an accident, why didn't they tell me he was hurt when I called? They both lied and hid what happened to my poor boy.

The Dr. and techs here are amazing. After Max had emergency surgery he went for after care here. They treated him and us like family. Three weeks later, Max needed to be placed to sleep due to complications from cancer and anemia. The staff were so patient and caring. They even stayed after hours to help send him home. I am forever grateful.

I can not say enough good things about this vet!! My cousin's dog jumped through a window & cut his leg really bad. They took him & had never seen him before. His foot was bandaged & they kept him the day to get him into surgery.Most vets won't see new patients especially in an emergency. Altavista Animal Hospital went above and beyond to help us!! I highly recommend them.

Great prices compared to the other vets. It took me 5 vets offices to find ones that I love and trust. They're the best around, I think. Wonderful, wonderful, people!!! One woman at another vet acted like she was scared of my beagle. Had to call me in there to control him. He is the biggest baby. ALTAVISTA IS A PET FRIENDLY, LOVING , FACILITY!!

We have used these Vet's for a lot of years. Thru 4 four legged babies and they have given them all wonderful care. Two have crossed the Bridge in years past. Yes the prices are a bit high but for proper treatment and care and being concerned for the parents as well it is worth it. We adore our Vet's.

Our cat was very ill. We recieved excellent attention. The associates were very gentle with him and the doctor was professional. She recommended a three night hospital stay with IV meds which was an unaffordable option. We were allowed to come home with four meds. Our baby had improved greatly and is returning to himself. We have a follow up on Monday. We are pleased with the service and treatment we received.

Dr. Chmiel and Dr. Bullins have always treated me and my animals with great care and respect. They've seen us through some really tough cases. Both are compassionate, yet realistic, and always present a range of treatment options when they're available. I've not had as many appointments with Dr. Howle, but she's been really good the few times I've seen her.I absolutely love my vets and think we're lucky to have them in our small town.
