In mid-July 2023, I emailed to arrange for some plumbing work as part of home renovation projects. I immediately received a response from Melissa to set up an appointment for an initial site visit. Unfortunately, on the day of the visit, I had to respond to a medical emergency for someone needing CPR, so I missed the service tech. Melissa was understanding and graciously re-scheduled for the following week (end of July).The service tech, Stephen, came out and did a thorough job, took pictures of all of the work I wanted done, even found some problems-waiting-to-happen. He's a super-nice guy, even gave me some advice on raising chickens. When he was leaving he said, "It'll be a while before we can get back to you." I didn't ask what that meant, but it did seem like a weird statement...I reached back out to Melissa 11 days after Stephen's visit (early August now), just to ask for an estimated timeline. We were going to be going on a two week vacation in September and I wanted to make sure there wouldn't be an unexpected "We can be there tomorrow" call when I was away. I never heard anything back.And I still haven't heard anything back. Even if Melissa somehow missed my follow-up email, they still had Stephen's site visit info/photos to work with, which should have triggered some kind of re-connection...maybe?Anyway, a lovely experience until they "ghosted" on me. Pretty discouraging...even an email saying, "Sorry, we're not going to be able to do that work for you" would have been helpful communication. It delayed me in searching for another plumbing company.

We've used Bernie Gage and crew for years for a variety of work, including updating plumbing and yearly maintenance. They've been responsive and do nice work. Truly professionals. It's great to work with them.

Please do not hire Bernie Gage Plumbing & Heating for your service needs. In August, 2023, we had them out for routine maintenance on our boiler. Unfortunately there was a persistent oil smell throughout our house. After two more attempts to fix the issue, we were met with attitude and felt dismissed. We even had to call the fire department due to oil smoke filling our house one evening. At this point, we called another company who remedied the issue quickly.On a follow up call from BG- the office manager was rude, interruptive, said she didn't have time to deal with our concerns, and even hung up on us. Very disappointed in the customer service aspect of this company and lack of follow through.The technicians were kind and respectful to our home but unable to diagnose the problem. We don't blame them for the part that went bad on the boiler- but wish we were met with a little more compassion and skill.

Super quick to service, diagnose and fix!! It was looking like we’d be without hot water for days until we came across these guys! They were not only quick and efficient but the guy they sent went above and beyond good work. He was sweet to my dog (who people usually walk by, ignore and get away from the living room as fast as possible bc he barks annoyingly from his crate when I’m not home). This guy brought him back treats when he returned from getting parts. The fact that he cared about my dog without me being home showed it was genuine rather than just trying to impress a customer. 10 out of 10!

I'm very happy with Bernies men.his son came out at 1am traveled 30 miles 1 way and was very very polite. If your broke late at night and someone comes straight out and repairs. I highly recommend Bernie son ..thank you for the pleasant experience..

Bernie Gage P&H recently replaced a boiler for us. They presented us with a comprehensive quote, made sound, and beneficial suggestions. Included detailed warranty info, even helped out with the Efficiancy Vermont rebate. We’ve hired BG P&H several times in the past. Almost always there in a flash if needed, courteous field technicians and office staff who even while being very busy, are quick to listen closely to your situation and provide appropriate and helpful responses.

I had been a loyal customer of Bernie Gage for several years, but I can no longer recommend their services. Be aware that they bill travel time for all of their service calls—not an unusual practice, perhaps. But their billing begins, not from their headquarters, but from whereever their technician happens to be. If you live locally and you are lucky to be the first service call of the day, you will pay little extra. If they schedule you after a customer in Essex, as they did with me, you will be charged an extra hour of labor ($120) for travel, on top of any work that is done. Their technician even showed me his log. While he had spent 54 minutes at my house, I was billed for two hours of labor. Why should I be responsible for another customer’s location? This is an unfair and arbitrary practice, made worse by the fact that it took four visits to fix the problem I was having with my furnance. None of this was ever disclosed to me until the bill arrived in the mail, and the bill was adjusted only after several phone calls to complain. Needless to say, I will not do business with them again.

The office staff very unprofessional, the guy that initially came for service was great. My problem is I had to have them come back out to turn something back on that was turned off. Our furnace ran none stop and once the outdoor thermostat was turned back on everything is fine, what I didn't expect was to get another bill for service call on something that took five minutes. I could have called someone else to do it. It took over a week to get anyone to answer phone since they aren't good about returning calls. We had bad experience with them in the past but thought maybe give them a try again.......

Two guys came out 20 mins into their appt window. Super considerate of new carpets. Asked intelligent questions and explained what their thought process was on how to fix the problem with my on demand boiler. Saved me a bunch of money by fixing existing parts instead just replacing. Only paid for labor. Jamie and Steve cleaned up after themselves and checked the whole system before packing up. These guys are busy throughout the week but justifiable so. If your problem can wait definitely give them a call. I just moved into Milton and their card is now saved into my phone. Considerate of indoor pets too.

After reading all the negative reviews, I decided to take the leap anyway. Scheduled an appointment between 2-4, the tech showed up at 1:30 right before I got home, never called and left. I got out of work early to be there for the appointment too. Amazes me how a phone call could have solved all of this.

I called and within an hour of my call they called me back and were at my place in 20 minutes. The person they sent was professional and kind and quickly fixed the problem. Their price was one of the lower quotes I received. We had something stuck in our toilet and he got it out quickly.
