I would recommend Essex Paint and Carpet again and again Derek had several types of vinyl planking out for me to look at and walk on. His experienced knowledge made my choice easy. Todd did a beautiful job of installing the floor in the whole condo in 4 1/2 days, and patiently allowed us in during the installation. They will always be my go-to for any renovations.And a big plus for shopping with a local business who’s been in Essex for generations.

Once again, we have had nothing but fabulous experiences with Essex Paint and Carpet!!! We had a carpet runner installed on our wood stairs and a backsplash for our kitchen installed! Jackie's assistance in choosing the right products and the installations were phenomenal!!!! The runner is absolutely gorgeous and the impact of a backsplash up to the ceiling makes a fabulous statement! They have both added such warmth and beauty to our townhouse!! I HIGHLY recommend Essex Paint and Carpet. They did many projects for me years ago, all of which came out beautifully and were fairly priced. Many years later, John's son Joe, now at the helm, helped us in our new home. Once again, the true Vermonter way; excellent workmanship, fairly priced, quick turnaround, and outstanding customer service. It is impossible to overstate how happy we are with Essex Paint and Carpet. We just had them install all new carpeting throughout our upstairs (four bedrooms, the stairs and hallway) and they were fantastic from beginning to end.Derek, who coordinated the whole project was so easy to work with starting with helping us through the selection process all the way through coordinating the installation team (during a pandemic, no less). Really, everyone in the shop was extremely helpful with getting the right carpeting picked for each room.The two men who did the installation, Todd and Nate, were also so easy to have here. For a project of that size, they were still able to minimize the disruption to us as we both worked from home. They were polite, efficient and thorough.I recommend them highly for your next project!

Essex Paint & Carpet did luxury vinyl tile (LVT) install in my basement. Worked with Joe who came out right away to provide initial product recommendation and quote. After some checking around and finding they were competitive on price, I knew I wanted to work with someone providing such personalized service and now that the job is done I definitely made the right decision. Joe was great throughout the process making sure everything was taken care of, and Todd who did the resurfacing of the concrete and LVT install paid great attention to detail and cut in and around even the tightest corners. I highly recommend Essex Paint & Carpet and would use them again!

There was no "hard sell" involved when I went to ask about tile shower materials.Devin was able to explain all the product lines they carried, and also explain the entire install process.Stuart was an expert installer, very comforting to have him arrive at our home and do the work. He was courteous, clean, and efficient.Joe was great about the follow-up. He did a final inspection and verifed of our satisfaction with the job.We were very impressed with Essex Paint and Carpet.

one star 8/12/2020: As a large Agricultural business we go through a lot of stain. We got a good discount (25%) on 12 gallons of stain through this company about six weeks ago. I called today to verify pricing on another 10 gallons and they confirmed my pricing on my account over the phone. When I drove into town to pick it up, an employee told me the owner said I was given too good of a discount the first time and they were only willing to offer me a 4% discount. As a business owner myself, I would never pull something like this on one of our own customers. It leaves me with a very bitter feeling about this company. I’d rather pay more at another store to be valued as a customer.EDIT: It was brought to my attention by Essex Paint & Carpet they sent me an email to let me know the pricing was no longer valid at 2:30pm the day I called at 11:45am. I did not see it in my spam filter. I got there some point after lunch but I'm not sure when. For the attempt to contact me I will raise my review from 1 star to 3. (They claim they called, but I have no missed calls). I will leave it at a 3 because of the measly 4% alternative discount, as well as because I feel bad for the male employee working who was helping four customers at once while the other employees were chatting and didn't offer to help him until he was almost done helping everyone. Perhaps if he wasn't over worked he wouldn't have made that error the first few times I bought stain.

The employees are extremely nice and helpful but the owner is constantly grumpy and complaining. I ordered a $2000 real of high end wool carpet and he complained that "it would have been better if I had called to tell them I was picking up" He also never has a mask on inside and obviously doesn't care about the health of his customers or really customers in general. Plenty of other places to take my business and refer my clients.

I own a building with four apartments and my carpet installer recently retired, therefore I needed to find a new company to do business with. I talked with friends to find a new company to do business with and even went to Lowes and I was very unimpressed as I needed a new carpet installed before the end of the week. At 5:10 on a Monday evening I located Essex Paint & Carpet on the internet and gave them a call. They answered the phone....at 5:10 so I knew that it was going to be good. It was the owner, John, and I told him what I needed, he made a recommendation, I accepted and his crew was installing the commercial carpet the next morning! When you are in the apartment business you do not want vacant apartments and John at Essex Paint and Carpet made it happen. Thanks John
