After receiving a competitive estimate I visited Western Fence to look at a sample of the fence and make sure it was what I wanted. Lee Nielsen , the person that gave me the estimate was not in. So I left a message for him to call me. When I got home I sent him an email that I wanted to arrange for him to get me a firm quote so we could proceed. Several days after not getting a call from him and no reply to my email I called him and left a message on his cell phone and still no attempt to contact me. This is a red flag. And after reading the many poor ratings this company has received I have decided to move on to a company interested in my business

We hired these guys to replace an old fence. The estimator made a measurement error and the crew wouldn't finish the last 12 feet without talking to him. When we finally got back in touch with him (because they are terrible about returning phone calls) he quoted 3 times the original price to finish the job. Would never recommend them

I had a vinyl fence installed, the post setters are a joke, they put 3 post directly on top of my sprinkler heads and broke them out to place the post. READ THE CONTRACT because it states they can break your sprinkler heads off if they want to, not to mention the cement bags left all over the yard that got wet from the rain and now I have cement all over my grass. Half of the post holes are overflowing with cement and half barley have any. Stay away this whole process was a nightmare.

In less than 10 months one entire side of the fenced property needed to have all the posts replaced. Now three years later the other side of the fenced property needs to have all of the posts replaced. The wood (for the most part) is in good condition - it was the installation that was/is at fault. Top railings are all hanging down or falling off and the bottom railings are too high off of the ground to keep critters from going under leading to our having installed sheet metal along the lower edges. I don't cell phone photographic skills to allow me to send pictures.

After an unfortunate event of backing into part of the fence, our estimator Jon took great care of us. We needed a repair of the fence they'd installed 5 years prior. Michael and Zach fixed the fence expertly. They made sure it was fixed better than the original install.

I want to give an accurate review so others will know what to expect when they deal with Western Fence. First, it took a long time. I think sometimes their salespeople are stuck in the middle and I would say the communication was not excellent. But, I made some changes and needed a change order which held up the project. I wish I had known that and sped up the process. However, the quality of work is astounding. So many things I did not expect. The holes they dug and cemented are deep. And I mean way deep. Much better than what they replaced and the wind ripped down. This isn't going anywhere. The finish trim that binds it all together looks amazing. The way they stair stepped the level of the fence from the house down to the side fence...again, something I didn't know they were going to do but looks incredible. The steel frames on the gates are amazingly strong. The gate hardware itself and locking mechanism again far surpass my expectations. The fact is this fence could not be build by amateurs. No way.My neighbor has a really good chain link fence that has withstood every windstorm we have had and I was close to getting one. At the end of the day I decided to go with something a little more modern. So after looking around and talking to these guys I went with horizontal cedar. When I told my neighbor he just shook his head and I couldn't disagree with him. I was nervous. Well since the fence has been completed, my neighbor now calls my house "Fort Lucy" and has proclaimed many times that the fence "isn't going anywhere." He wants to know where the cannons are hiding. So, if you want a ridiculously good fence, call these guys. Make sure your i's are dotted and your t's are crossed. Make sure all your contracts are in order, and then be patient. It will be well worth it. Thanks Kamren for the great suggestions. I know you are in a tough position in the middle. Thanks Rebecca for your patience and help when time became an issue. At the end of the day, there is no other box to check but 5 stars and I recommend them wholeheartedly.Services: Custom fabrication, Wood fence installation

Not to be trusted. Had a bid and sign contract for a fence. Western requested 60% more at time of installation. When I asked for a refund they stalled. Weeks later have yet to receive my $4,500 deposit

Western Fence worked on a fencing project at my home and they did amazing work. The crews were fast and efficient and the project was executed beautifully. I worked with Jon and he was very responsive and listened to all of my needs, wants, and any concerns. When it came to billing the office staff was friendly and attentive. Overall it was a smooth and great experience. I would highly recommend them for any fencing needs!

When we picked Western Fence Company to install our fence back in April 2016, we chose them because we were told that their customer service was the best and that they would work with customers. We were told that the manufacturer warranties its products for life, and while they only had a 1 year workmanship warranty, the owner would usually always work with customers if problems cropped up. In fall of that year, we had the drop rod on our large gate break free. I contacted them about it on September 10 and was asked to email them pictures, which I did the same day. I hadn’t heard anything from them over a week later and called them again and was told we will get to it. I called again the following week and they finally came out on September 28 to fix it. I was told that the drop rod had been improperly installed, and the concrete hole hadn’t been cut properly. The gates started sagging together after this and have become hard to open and close, but we decided that after our experience with the lack of response and customer service on the drop rod, that we would just live with it. In April of this year (2018) during a large windstorm the post holding the large gate cracked and all the vinyl slats pulled out. I decided that we should contact them again (and hoped that they would help out). I called Shannon Rock on April 17, 2018 and was told that the gate post wasn’t warrantied because wind was an act of God. I asked her (reminding her about the drop rod and the fact the gate was improperly installed and took damage for several months before it was fixed in 2016) if there was anything they could do, and she asked me to email her pictures (which I did right after I got off the phone with her). I hadn’t heard anything back from them at all (even a phone call or email saying that they were busy and would come when they could), so I decided to call them yesterday (June 4, 2018). I talked to Shannon again yesterday and was told that she had referred it to someone else in the company and that they should have been out. I told her they hadn’t, I was extremely upset with their customer service and would take to online reviews to tell my story. So buyer beware – don’t believe them when they tell you they have amazing customer service (they don’t). In fact, be expected to call them over and over and over again to get anything fixed (even if it is under warranty).

We paid in full with a quote for 2-3 weeks. After given a fully detailed survey with clear written info about the corners of the property, the workers came out at 2 weeks and couldn’t find the property line for some reason. So they asked me to go mark it for them. I look at the survey, go out and mark it myself the next day very easily with zero experience in the area. We let them know, and then wait 2 MORE WEEKS until they finally come put in the posts. We’re now coming up on week 6 since they were paid in full, week 7 since we signed and emailed the contract, and panels still haven’t been placed 10 days after the posts were put in. Do not use this company.

I have been hesitant to write a review because it is not something I normally do. However, the entire process of my experience with Western Fence Company has been awful. The salesman Tyler that I originally worked with sold us a fence, in which went with a higher design wood fence (the monster fence) that was more expensive. When the installers came they stated that we could not get that fence unless our neighbors tore down their fence too. Since they have vinyl fences we did not want to ask them to tear down theirs. When we were deciding which fence to go with they quoted us for a regular wood fence and the monster fence. the monster fence was about 50% more then the regular fence. When we were told that we would not be able to get the monster fence on the sides we got the regular fence with the monster fence in the front. They only deducted $3700 from our monster quote fence. When I questioned the math from the estimates I received to what I was now being charged I completely got the run around! At this point our fence was torn down and we really didn't have an option but to go forward. When they were finished I was very worried about the hardware as it is not high quality and the monster fence double gates are heavy! now 10 months latter one of our posts are leaning and our gate is dragging. I called Western Fence over 3 weeks ago, I was told Tyler is gone and they would assign me to a new coordinator John. I have now called Western Fence and John multiple times and have never heard back. Yesterday when I called back they told me they would escalate to John's supervisor. I have still not heard back. I have a very expensive fence not even a year old and the gate has failed and Western Fence does not seem to care. I am very disappointed and frustrated at this point.

Can I give 0 stars!!! Truly zero stars!!! I couldent even get my quote emailed to me. They came out, measured, got an idea of what we wanted. Said one week for a quote to be put together. Week went by and nothing. Gave it a few more days and sent and email got a response that it was almost done. Another week nothing. Sent another email, same empty promise. Called a few time and was reasured it had been sent and it would be sent again right away!!! Guess what??? NOTHING!! one last email saying i didnt get it and zero reponse. I have never dealt with such poor customer service. Dont waste your time. I gave them a chance this whole process was about a month or so untill I gave up on them entirely. I guess they dont want small jobs.

I really appreciate the excellent fence and double gate that I received, with vinyl slats chain link. They did exactly what they said they would do. Everything was set and installed properly. I believe it will be there for many decades to come. Lee the salesman is nice to deal with and they have awesome installers that will go beyond the call of duty. They did a super job. Thank you so much Western Fence Company. I highly recommend Western Fence Company!

Fast, friendly and will most definitely use West Fence (WF) again, and without first calling other suppliers. WF took the time to weld a post to a concrete mounting plate - there were none in stock at the time of my telephone call. Rather than have me come on a different day - to allow for welding- they indicated for me to come immediately, as they would ensure that the assembly would be ready by the time I got there. Sure enough, it was complete, and protective-painted too! Their customer service was top notch!! Very, very happy.WF allowed me to get my project done early.

Hired this company because of the 80 year family ownership. Obviously the next generation is not as determined to keep the good name of the grandfather. I understand construction delays but my fence was down for 5 months the whole project took 8 months to complete. I called and never got return calls or texts. The communication was non existent. they didn't purchase enough wood to finish the whole project so when they finally did come back to put up the front of the fence the wood was completely different than what was put up in the back and sides also 1.5 inches bigger! Finally showed up with a wood that matched closer but off by 1 inch. Gate was 2.5 inches to big and still had to go back to be redone. I work with construction companies for my job and trust me this would be unacceptable and cost them a claim in my world. They finally finished and returned a call when I threaten to call my lawyer. Terrible customer service. However Joel and his crew that installed get a 5 star rating in my book. They actually did a beautiful job considering what they have to work with.Service: Wood fence installation

We used western fence to replace the gate we used on community dumpster. They RECOMMENDED a design that failed after about 6 months. At which point they then revealed that the warranty had expired and they would come fix it for an additional cost. We paid them to come back out to "fix the gate" which they took a month and half to do. about 3 months later the gate failed again, and we asked if maybe the design was faulty, but they assured us the gate was fine. 3 months after that it failed again, and we asked that they replace the gate with something that would actually work! They told us that once again our warranty had expired and they were not liable for the gate. Last time we talked to them they said the gate should have never been installed and would be happy to replace it for the full cost of a new gate. I have never worked with a company that wasn't willing to work with us on a mistake they had made. That hasn't even tried to right a wrong they had done or protect their reputation.Obviously at this point we have decided to go with a different company to replace the gate. This company doesn't care if their product fails, and shows no loyalty to one that was once a returning customer.I am with Hazelwood HOA. Sadly it was gravity that caused our gate not to function due to a poor design. Unless you consider gravity an unforseeable act of God that was constantly causing our gate not to function, I don't know what to tell you...

SLOPPY, in my opinion They are not residential quality. I spent too much time having to oversee the project. This included me having to go secure some materials to finish the project. No coordination among crew. Mistakes in mesuarments and basic knowledge of how to build a fence were lacking I would n ot hire them again. They really like to throw that 40 years of service out there,

I placed an order for a Vinyl Gate and some additional pieces for another fence I have been fixing.Due to delays from COVID the materials did take a bit to get in stock. The salesman I worked with never returned my calls or would give me any update about my order. When my order was finally in Cody helped my wife and I load the materials into my truck and was so helpful to make sure my order was correct. Where I had a strange order, he made sure I had the materials I needed and wasn't overcharged for things I wouldn't use. He even took the time to explain to me shortcuts to put my gate together. If it wasn't for Cody I probably would end up using another vendor for other projects.I'm impressed with the quality of my materials and because of Cody will continue to give Western Fence Co. a call.Service: Vinyl fence installation

These guys are great! I was contacted less than 30 minutes after I submitted my request online and was provided with a tentative quote over the phone. When the sales rep showed up, the final quote ended up being almost exactly what we'd discussed. They were booked out a few weeks because it's springtime, but I was able to get updates easily and was contacted when I landed on the schedule. The installation team was AWESOME! Tony and Adam went above and beyond to make our fence look beautiful again.

By nature I am not really a Karen type of reviewerI rarely give a bad review. But I feel it is important part of being a consumer. So let's talk postive firstthe final product was finally complete it was beautiful and strong and well built. Here are some negative thoughts about this companyThe pole installation crew was extremely unprofessional. They didn't do a walk through asking where best to put the extra dirt. They dug without blue stakes being 100 percent complete. As a result severed the CATV line [Xfinity] causing a day and a half without internet. Also ruined no less then five of my sprinkler lines. And didn’t bother to inform us.I noted and asked. They left tools at the site we called to let them know to comeback. Also the timeline was longer then originally stated and there was no comuninication as to why till after the fact. And there was no compensation or empathy given on all the negative issues.2 stars only because the final product is good.

I hired Western Fence to restore an automatic gate that had been out of service for at least 15 years. Kamren Nielsen was my point of contact, and D'Vario was the technician who lead the installation of the new and restored equipment. They were both highly professional and easy to work with. The work was done on time and on budget, and the quality of the installation is excellent. I'd call Kamren again in a minute if I had any other fencing needs…Fast forward to this year, and my opinion of Western Fence has completely flipped. First, the pedestal they installed to hold the gate keypad disintegrated - literally crumbled - due to lousy concrete work. Western Fence was more interested in collecting payment to have the pedestal base rebuilt than they were with the quality of their original work, which they did not stand behind at all. Over the past month another problem arose with the gate - it was stuck in the open position. Western Fence sent a technician, but his “fix” lasted all of one day. Then, a week later, they sent another crew - their “fix” also lasted all of one day. Finally, another week later their crew showed up to replace the circuit boards in the gate operators. The gate has now been working for a few days, but the change-out of the circuit boards caused our remote controls to stop working (no one said anything about this issue in advance). So now I’m waiting for a fourth visit to re-program the remotes. And all along I’ve been hounded by their office staff for payment - even though the job still isn’t finished. I really don’t appreciate continual harassment from their accountant for payment - despite the fact that I still don’t have a complete invoice. Although their lead technician has been great, their office staff is terrible. I have no desire to ever work with this company again.

Western Fence Co is a flat 3-star company -- the experience was fine and nothing more. Unfortunately the sales team needs to improve their communication. As a sales manager myself, I hate seeing how Western Fence's sales team communicated: really well prior to the sale, then absolutely terrible after the paperwork had been signed. We were told to expect a 2 week window between post installation and fence completion, and it took nearly 5 weeks. The salesperson constantly pushed us back, told us we were next in line, another week would pass, wouldn't return calls for a couple of days, then would make excuses how they were out of wood, etc. It felt like a battle to get the job done. The crew who installed the fence was solid once they finally showed up (without notice that they were coming, by the way). At the end of the day, I wish I went with a smaller company and paid more to get better service. Look elsewhere, folksService: Wood fence installation

Plan on getting HORRIBLE customer service on the administrative end from Western Fence. Not being able to get in touch with anyone. And NOT having your project done on time. They will spin a great story and tell you it's on track to happen on a certain date, but it won't and they will avoid your calls and texts. You can guarantee a lot of frustration along the way. However, The crew that came out to install was wonderful and did a great job.Service: Wood fence installation

Here is my full experience. We had a fence installed in November. There was some scheduling issues. We got it squared away eventually.Fast forward to a few weeks ago, our gate post started to sag and caused the gate to not function well at all. I called the office number multiple times, no answer. I finally just called the sales number and someone answered. Someone needs to work on answering the main number. They actually responded reasonably fast to the initial request to have someone look at it. I sent some pictures. They sent a guy out to look at it more closely. We were still under warranty so they came and reset the post and put the gate back on. The whole process was about 10 days and that was during their busy time of year. I was happy and impressed at how well they responded to warranty work. Most companies blow that off and take their time.

I feel completely frustrated by our experience with this company, and I would recommend that others look for another company for their fencing project. We selected Western Fence for our fencing project at my preschool center. We were changing out the chain link fencing on two small playgrounds and replacing them with a taller and more secure iron fence. We were also going to be adding magnetic and coded locks on the fence gates for additional security. We explained the nature of the project, gave all information regarding licensing requirements we have from the state, and also gave contact information for the project manager of Mountain Alarm (the company doing the security portion of the project), so each company could communicate needs to have the project completed correctly. The project was estimated to be out about 8 weeks. Communication up until payment was received was good. After payment was given, we couldn't get into contact with anyone. The project ended up taking much longer than expected. This would have been reasonable if it was communicated, but it wasn't. Once the fencing was complete, we noticed multiple large errors. There were extremely large gaps between the ground and bottom of the fence (large enough for adults to fit under), fencing was wobbly, and the gate posts were not secured properly and came loose from the ground. For something we spent $10,000, it was completely unacceptable.Trying to get into contact with the company was difficult, and the process to get the items fixed took long and felt like pulling teeth. The original project manager we had was suddenly no longer with the company, so we began working with another individual- Lee.The gate was not done properly to work with the security project of the portion, and when I reached out to Lee about this, he agreed to meet with me, my facilities manager, and the employees of Mountain Alarm to go over what was needed to complete the project. He agreed to come out the following day (a Friday). However, he did not show to the meeting and instead wasted the time of five people. He didn't answer our phone calls to see if he was coming. I called him on Monday to follow up and he said he had completely forgotten. He said he would "make it up any way he needed". So, he said he would be able to come out the same day. I asked him what time would work best for him. He then showed up over an hour late, again wasting my time and that of the facilities manager and security techs.Lee told us he would provide us with an estimate for the gate (something that should have been done correctly the first time), but that it would take about a week. Two weeks later, I hadn't heard from him, so I emailed him to check progress. He replied "I'm close. Almost done." One week later, I still hadn't heard from him. I emailed him again with no response. At that point, I felt that this company didn't deserve any more of my time and money, so we decided to go with another company. It was probably more money than we would have spent with Western Fence, especially if it had been done correctly the first time, but it was worth it as we now have a completed gate in less time than it took to hear back from Lee.I'm disappointed that we had such a poor experience with this company, but it seems that many others have had the same experiences recently. I would suggest finding a company better suiting to communicating accurate information to their clients and completing a job correctly.Service: Iron fence installation

This has to be the worst company I have ever worked with. They started the job and never finished. So I had my credit card company take my money back. Then they show up to finish the job, so I ended up paying them in full. Motor on my gate immediately breaks and I need warranty work done. I have been calling for 6 weeks to get my gate fixed and I still have not seen a technician. $7,000.00 down the drain. I feel so taken advantage of. Find another company they are not worth the trouble.

Don't recommend. Took 11 months to complete a relatively small gate project. Super expensive and value just isn't there. Asked for a brown color on the gate's panels. They presented me a color palate on a website to choose from and when they the panels were installed, they were orange. The company agreed to repowder-coat them, but then took 4 months to return them and charged me another $1200.Service: Custom fabrication

Everyone at this company is great! Kamren Nielsen was fantastic to work with and was able to take our crazy ideas for fencing, gates, horse fencing, occasional 12% grade and turn it into an amazing yard/horse area. We are thrilled with the final product. He was also super accommodating when we needed to make changes to the plan per zoning regulations. All the teams that came by to implement the work were also great, very respectful of the property and super hard working. It was not an easy project for them, with lots of elevation. The foreman who finished the project had really high professional standards and made sure it was done just right. On top of all this - the price for this project was about half the price quoted by several other companies in town.We are very happy with our fencing project and would recommend this company to ANYBODY. When my old fence fell during a June windstorm I asked my lawn care guy if he could recommend a company to build me a new one. He said "Western Fence does quality work, and they're right here in Murray."I had two different companies come out quotes. The first guy kept trying to steer me toward an inferior design, and I had serious doubts he knew his job well. Then Kamren Nielsen from Western Fence came by and was able to describe in detail the fence construction steps to build a cedar fence that I wanted with metal framed gates. I appreciated his attitude and confidence and was convinced he had earned my business.I don't know the crew who installed the metal posts, but they did a phenomenal job - the posts were straight and level.Adam and his crew hung the fence and did the gate installation. Hey they even have a quality control supervisor who makes sure everything is built to full satisfaction.I'm very pleased with my fence!Service: Wood fence installation

I was fired and thrown under the bus cause my foreman was going to fail a breath test for drinking and driving.A motorist saw him drinking a beer while driving and got call in. The owner super unprofessional, looking in my back pack without permission and of course nothing was ever found, yelling at me like I was her kid and having about 5 people surrounded us like were going to violent.
