It's a nice looking little place, they're attached to a little money grab with useless items. I mean hey get a T-Shirt that says Escalante if you're just passing through, to say you've been there, and maybe some water hiking shoes if you need them. But my personal suggestion. Don't waste your time or your money there. I moved to the area recently and EVERYBODY in the town says "go to outfitters," "their pizza is amazing," so I gave in. I've been around the world and pizza is something unavoidable almost everywhere you go. Got one of my favorites across the board anywhere I go and that's a chicken bacon pizza. They call it the "Chop Rock." We all know how big 10 inches is right? Not a big pizza by any standards. 30 minute wait and $22 for a couple slices to about make me throw up. Now not quite the price I'd want to pay to try somewhere. Plus they wouldn't refund me for how bad it was. Cute little shop. Respectable people. Horrible quality to price ratio. Take my information and do what you want with it. Have a good day!

What a pleasant surprise! I can't imagine how many mediocre post-hiking pizzas I've eaten in an equal number of towns. The pizza at Esca-latte Restaurant / Escalante Outfitters is EXCELLENT. Great crust, great sauce, great ingredients. And, the store has a wonderful selection of books to enhance your experience of this beautiful area (Ed Abbey, Craig Childs, Terry Tempest Williams), maps, and a carefully curated collection of quality gear.

We ordered the Big Horn pizza here on our drive home. The 16” was too much for 2 people so we took the rest home. It was delicious! They have lovely outdoor seating.Dietary restrictions: They offer a gluten free crust

We know Pizza. We are very used. But this pizza here is really perfect. We had it two days in a row and I am still thinking about to have it tomorrow again. Coffee and breakfast also very good. Beer from tap very good and please try the perfect carrot cake… and you meet always nice people there and of course a very friendly staff. Wouldn’t expect that here deep in the nowhere.Edit 2022. - we were looking forward this place this year again and got awarded again. We love the place - the pizza - and the friendly staff, especially German Brigitte. CU on Sunday again.

Amazing food and a beautiful place to watch the sunset. The pizza was delicious and the salad was fresh and plentiful. A nice surprise in the middle of Escalante. They had a nice beer selection as well as plenty of great food choices. Aaron and the rest of the team were awesome!

This is a gem of this sleepy town. It's an outfitters, souvenir shop, excellent coffee shop, amazing sandwich shop, great showers only spot for RVers, and there are some cabins too. The sandwiches are amazingly fresh, full of veggies and displayed equally as well.Vegetarian options: Veggie sandwich is 100% amazing.

After hiking all day in Escalante we checked in to our hotel room and walked three minutes to this restaurant. It’s kind of a 3-in-1 establishment: an outfitters general store, coffee shop and restaurant. There’s comfortable in and outdoor seating. Very mountain casual feel, friendly staff. We ordered the day hiker pizza, 10”, which we shared between the two of us, with the Caesar salad, which was generous enough for three or four normal salad eaters. We also ordered a pint of draft beer and hard apple cider between us. The pizza and salad were both excellent. Crazy as it sounds, it’s worth the drive to eat here! The sourdough pizza dough is off the charts good, along with the generous toppings. The Caesar salad was far above the run-of-the-mill salads one usually gets with pizza establishments.

Had the Chop Rock (chicken, bacon, artichoke) pizza, the Apple Pecan Arugula Salad, the chocolate torte and a berry crisp. Have been here twice, and both times, everything has been amazing. The pizza crust is sourdough and it is one of the best anywhere. This pizza would compete with the best anywhere in the country, but that it's available here in the tiny town makes it even more of a gem. Friendly service, nice views. Couldn't ask for more.

This restaurant shares the building with Escalante Outfitters. Just head into the main store and turn right. They got their pizza DOWN! We shared a pizza and a salad and a beverage. Glad we stopped in!

DELICIOUS pizzas AND salads!!!!! A must stop if you’re in Escalante looking for food! Had the Apple pecan arugula salad and a 16” half King’s Mesa and half Silver Falls to share with the hubby - definitely enough food despite our rigorous hiking. They also have beer on tap! Wish we had another night in Escalante for a second meal here.LOCATION: Same building at Escalante Outfitters (they are connected).PARKING: Easy to street park and I believe small parking lot in the back.PROCESS: Press at the register and let them know dine-in vs take-out. Their dine-in area is quite small, so expect a wait when they’re busy. While waiting, hang around the Outfitters store and they’ll come grab you when ready.

We actually went for lunch and dinner on the same day, and were impressed by both. Super nice service and really good conversation. Food and drinks fantastic and restorative after a long day of hiking and driving.

Great place for freshly prepared food. Went at 7:30 in the morning, to find wild berry muffin and quiche which was made minutes earlier. Barista made us excellent coffee and hot chocolate. Options on their breakfast menu were very good, with healthy choices though not expensive.Didn't eat their pizza during lunch/dinner, but they looked very good. Someone there mentioned their pizza calzone was excellent. They serve good coffee through the day. Also has a small store where you can buy some items good for tourists.

The best sour dough pizza I've ever had! My husband and I are from Chicago and we pleasantly surprised when we found this awesome pizza spot on a hiking trip. We had a great day to soak up the sun on the patio, enjoy a slice and a cold one. We also enjoyed the generous arugala salad. The pizza crust was thin and crispy and the sauce, peperonis and tomato were very fresh. Its worth the 4 hour drive from SLC!

We always come here when in Escalante. Great food! Tonight however the gentleman waiting on us was rude. Made a comment to my husband that he heard him the first time when my husband asked for the cake in front, then when I tried to pay with Apple Pay and it almost went through (he said no card taps so I thought it would work) again and it didn’t, he got snippy and said I told you, now I have to start again. We paid and turned to wait for our food and he started to complain about us to another staff met while we were still there! Yesterday we had a sweet woman wait on us (and I used Apple Pay in the store) so this isn’t typical. Maybe he was just having a bad day even though he said he just got there 5 minutes ago.
