This place is amazing! Rest stop right before exit 635 on I-20 west side. Carlos (owner) is so nice, menu is fabulous! We had Gator andouille sausage po’boy & cole slaw - delish! Cappuccino was great too! Atmosphere super welcoming! Tell your friends and don’t miss going there! It will be a frequent stop for me any time I’m coming through again!

Saw this place when I stopped for the day at the Texas welcome center. Their menu looks great from top to bottom but I had to try the Blackened Shrimp Po boy and the Alligator Andouille sausage. They both were made quick and were delicious and fresh. The sausage had a nice little kick to them and was really filling. Definitely a cool little spot that I wouldn't have ever found without stopping at this rest area. Quick service, great food and choices, and very friendly staff! Give this place a try!

The service was great. The space was super cool. Stopped in for a bite while getting off interstate for a minute. I ordered a BLT, but the bread choices should include just plain bread. I opted for a po boy. Hmmmm, way too much bread. Ingredients were pretty fresh, though. By the name, I was expecting chicken... but sadly, it's not a chicken place.

Being on the road constantly I'm always looking for new places to dive dine. Some are hits while others are misses. Yard Bard was definitely a HOME-RUN!!! Definitely not what I was expecting sitting by a test area on the intestate.I was greeted as soon as I walked in and was immediately given a drink. (Ordered a coke sadly. Wish I'd thought to try an iced mocha!)After looking over the menu and having the days special recommended to me by the waiter, I decided on the special. And I'm very glad I did.The special was a ribeye (16oz I believe) with two sides and bread. I opted for corn and a side salad. The corn was good and the side salad was great. The side salad was made with spring mix instead of the usual lettuce that most places serve.Now let's talk about that ribeye.OMG!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!!I'm a medium rare type of guy. Most places significantly overcook their meat. Not here. It was PERFECT! Tasted great with amazing seasonings. Nothing like a great tasting thick and juicy steak. I cannot say enough good about this. Lol. About half way through my meal I was asked if I would need a box to go. I did not. I finished every last bite of that delicious meal!Will I be back? ABSOLUTELY!!! And I recommend you go try 'em out, too.Update 11/3/23Had the same steak today and it was cooked to the same perfection as last time. This guy KNOWS his steak!!!

Such a great little place with a big menu and great food! The BEST backyard-style cheeseburger I’ve had in 20+ years. Flavor 10/10. Potato salad is also the best I've had from a restaurant - tastes homemade. I will definitely keep going back and trying new dishes. Next will be the brisket sandwich - can’t wait! It’s definitely worth the drive!

Great find at the Texas Welcome Center at Texas/Louisiana state line! Delicious food and friendly, helpful staff! Cute decor made it feel like you were in your favorite family members home:) Chicken salad wrap was fresh and tasty and large portion! Turkey club was great too! Large menu with many choices and daily specials! A great stop while in the area!

We stopped here on our way home from a trip. The place is clean, cozy, very easy to get to, affordable, and the food tasty. Our children all enjoyed their food and the woman who took our order was kind and friendly. Can't beat it!Kid-friendliness: Lots of fun things on the wall for the kids to look at and picnic tables outside were a plus.

Friendly Staff and Good Food, What more could you ask for? In all the times we've driven by and had no idea this little restaurant was just sitting right next door. Breakfast was amazing, Cold Brew hit the spot, my husband enjoyed the Surf and Turf Sandwich at 9 am, and The potato salad is different but so delicious! Highly Recommend. Hoping more stops in the future when passing through.

We originally stopped by the rest stop next door on our road trip looking for coffee. As we’re leaving we come across this place and decided to give it a shot and needless to say the visit was well worth it! The people were lovely (talk about southern hospitality!!) and the food was even better. We tried the BLT and steak & cheese and both were superb. The bread was fresh, soft, and had a nice sweetness to it. The meat was slow cooked and very tender and the onions and peppers added so much flavor.

The owner runs the whole place- host, waitress, cook and busboy. Very clean, cute decor , GREAT FOOD. Huge Brisket burger, loaded potatoes, club sandwich, Potato salad, 2 drinks, big piece of cake $28 dollars.Parking: Cafe located AT THE TEXAS REST AREA, great for Motorhomes with tow vehicles. Even oversized loads can easily park.

What a pleasant surprise! We found this spot by chance after visiting Gator and Friends and we loved it. It's right next to a visitor's center so you could walk from the visitor center or just park at the restaurant. Great food, plenty of seating inside and outside, and very cute. Kid friendly too. We'll definitely be back!

Some good ol' southern food with a cajun twist. What a great little family operated place to get a bite after a long day of driving.Delicious food mixed with southern Cajun hospitality. Very nice folks. If you haven't stopped by, put it on your list. You will not be disappointed. Thanks y'all for the good eats.

On the border of Texas and Louisiana (at the end of the I-20 Service Road) is a charming farmhouse serving up tasty plates of Southern flavor!Our waitress recommended the Alligator-Shrimp Po'Boy and it was delicious! Best road-side rest stop for an amazingly satisfying lunch!🐊

We had 4 different menu items and they were all really freaking good. Burger, patty melt, ribeye po boy, and hot dogs. I'll stop here every time.Parking: There is a lot right in front of the building, or you could park at the rest stop and walk overKid-friendliness: Only 3 kid menu items, but pretty much what you would expect.

We ordered the shrimp and gator Po'Boy with potato salad and a drink. We really wanted to love it. We totally expected more, for $38 (two people). Maybe more than 4 shrimp? Maybe more gator and less sausage, since we didn't order sausage? I think that might be a piece of gator in the front part of my sandwich. Maybe? It was the only one in there so hard to tell. Because it was delicious, I really wanted just a little bit more to offset the amount of bread.
