They've been very helpful and flexible in helping me find affordable ways to treat senior cat. I've had some bad experiences in that regard lately, so it's nice to find a place that doesn't try to send me to a specialist. Dr. Merritt even called my cat a sweet kitty, which no one has ever said sincerely before.

Dr Merritt is the worst vet and is so rude with no class!! If I could give ZERO stars, I would!!I have never been treated this horribly by ANYONE at SBAH except when I am speaking to Dr. Merritt. She mentioned on the phone before hanging up on me, gave me the option to utilize the $1 or $3 medication and I said the $1. She mentioned that it took her team half an hour to separate the pills but these pills are already coming from the box and organized so I have no idea what she was referring too. When I spoke with the cashier to pay the amount, nobody mentioned the shipping cost was $32. She said she gave me the deal that she received the medication for and that she didn’t “charge me what I should’ve”. Again, I’m not sure what shes referring to because she stated the generic medication is $1 and that’s what I chose.It is their job to make sure the patients and their dogs are well taken care of and everyone in that facility has done so for the past 3 years and 9 months expect for her, Dr. Merritt!!! I was trying to contact her back about 3-4 times after she hung up on me and told me to find another clinic but she wouldn’t answer the call and emailed me back stating to stop contacting San Benito Animal Hospital!!!

I had to decide to euthanize my dog two weeks ago. Dr. Merritt and her team were Respectful, and supportive and gave me all the information I needed.And they made a clay paw print to take home with me.Now my beloved is resting and doesn't have any more pain.

Dr.Merrit is as unprofessional as they can come. They didn’t bother running further examinations on my cocker spaniel but she was quick to bring up the prices for putting him down after taking one look at him and brushing 2 strokes down his head with no physical exam. The vet techs had no idea what they were doing when extracting my fur baby’s blood for blood work they continuously poked and poked at his poor neck. He was clearly uncomfortable but he was still and did not flinch once so there was no excuse for them to not have gotten what they needed. He was prescribed medication for a urine infection when that was clearly not the case. We left and looked elsewhere for a second opinion and he was seen the next day at Alta’s palmas and was treated with respect and they ran the necessary exams to get down to the diagnosis and plan of treatment. They were astonished at how quick the previous Dr was to dismiss procedures and protocols. On a side note one of the vet techs at SBAH shared with me the Dr never wanted to practice within that profession it was forced upon her by her father. Some people should not be Drs.

Edit - after DR. Merritt could not figure out what was wrong with my sisters dog, prescribing incorrect medication and my sister paying so much … she actually told my sister to find another vet and her dog was no longer welcomed there anymore . I will NOT be bringing my dog back here. So sad that someone can own this place and not have a care in the world for dogs. Jan 2024 —

I'm completely at a loss for words with the 2 vets we saw at this animal hospital. I should've followed my gut. We took a stray cat who had suffered some form of accident and their first evaluation was to perform x amount of tests on her. Despite an X-ray they performed, we were told she was okay internally and her external injuries were going to heal with time. $500+ later, she sadly passed away with what seems like internal injuries as her external injuries were healing. I cannot comprehend how a cat just passes away when she was treated. Despite of us telling the vet that her back legs were injured, she reiterated that she was good internally and had no other injuries. If you want to save any strays or your pets for that matter, I would stay away from this animal hospital. Worse case scenario, get a second opinion. Don't trust them.

we ve been taking our dog to this facility tor quite some time,they they don't do a thorough exam, the second exam they found issues that wasn't find on the 1st examination so are they really doing a examination,they don’t examine the animal in front of you.there s a lack of communication that happens from time to time between the nurse and the doctor.The doctor says one thing and the nurse says another, and you need to check your dog just to make sure your getting the service what you paid for, they don't always follow through in what's supposed to done.Now I see why so many dogs are running around, the fees they charge are manipulated,do your diligence and get a second opinion.or get what you pay for which is the service wasn’t done

My husband found 2 abandoned puppies down our street. We immediately took them in and wanted to get them "healthy" for our existing 7yr old dog. Only San Benito Animal Hospital found it in their hearts to see them right away.Dr Merritt, Jose and rest of staff made taking our 3 month old puppies a reassuring experience. Dr Merritt took the time to fully examine, treat, and prepare an immediate and long range plan for both our babies. I am forever grateful to this staff for their kindness and words of encouragement. If you are frustrated with your existing animal care, BRING YOUR PETS to San Benito Animal Hospital! You will LOVE it!

Took my cat who I felt was dying. She didn't want to eat and was really weak. They said it was a virus passed on from cat to cat. They recommended fever, diarrhea medicine & also a tube of gel formulated to support her immune system, oh & also 2 month medicine for fleas All this along with her physical came out to $140. Not bad. Would have been almost $400 because they wanted to run all these tests, but I asked if I can just have the medication that she needed to make her better now. So they worked with me to get me an amount I was okay with. So definitely appreciate that. My cat was feeling way better the next day. Thank you so much San Benito Animal Hospital.

I must say I am greatly satisfied with the professionalism, service(s) provided and the great customer service. Y'all are always very informative. On June 29, 2023 at approximately 11pm I noticed my dog had an injury, a broken nail all the way down at the base/root. She couldn't sleep most the night due to pain and limped everywhere, which also kept me up. The next day I brought her in and not long after they had her all fixed up and back to running around like nothing even happened. I'll do anything for my babygirl Dakota (Dog). Thank y'all so much! I' recommend them to anyone!

Peanut...she was ill back in Oct 2019, and she is doing better today, on 4/27/2020.In the beginning of her sickness, she was not moving, I saw the sadness in her eyes, and the fear in the other girls( other doggies) eyes as they looked at her, trembling...I am thankful for San Benito Animal Hospital for taking us in with such a short notice early Saturday morning that day...That day seemed so long...Right now, she seems fine, but still taking her meds...(she was acting like my Gordies - when she passed away).It took me this long to write this review, because I wanted to make sure Peanut did receive the right attention and at the right time...And she did. Today, My Peanut is very much alive and still playing, growling and barking...I am very thankful for San Benito Animal Hospital and what they did to get my Peanut back on her feet...

Dr Merrit is AMAZING. I took my dog in on a Saturday morning because he woke up with hives. The front staff let me know they would have to get permission by the Dr to see if my dog could be seen as a walk in... a few minutes went by and Dr Merrit herself came to the lobby and asked to immediately see him. She took such good care of him and explained everything she was doing. I couldn't ask for a better Dr for my dog Knox.

I took our very sick dog we had adopted and the Vet-Dr. Merritt diagnosed her as having diabetes and heartworms. It was also her belief that she had cancer because she had red spots and was too skinny. All she did was simple blood work to check her sugar and the heartworm test.Her recommendation was to have her euthanized instead of having her treated.Took her to the country vet and one year later, she is up on her weight, her diabetes is controlled, she doesn't have cancer and she has been on heartworm medication for a year. She is blind, but nothing my hubby and I can't handle.

I would like to give zero stars! I asked a good friend that recommended the place to me to make an appointment for my new kitten to get vaccinated for rabies. I show up to my appointment and they wanted to give my kitten every test and treatment but the rabies shot - costing almost $300. When I declined the treatments and bill, they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee. My friend doesn't remember if he specified only a rabies shot or not, but I don't think he asked them for a full check-up costing hundreds of dollars (something that would have never crossed his mind). I showed up to my appointment, and they know someone made a mistake which could have very well been their receptionist, but they still charged me a cancellation fee. I asked two of the workers if I could take my kitten elsewhere to get her rabies shot because I no longer wanted to do business there and they slipped in a rabies shot without me knowing and charged me (on top of the cancellation fee). If this happens to you, I suggest refusing to pay and just call the cops. These people are supposed to be healers, but now, honestly, I have a bit of a broken heart from this injustice. A 35-dollar-cancellation fee is at least 3 hours of work for me. I also suggest taking your animal to the Humane Society for their rabies shot - it's cheaper.
