Very reasonable price for what you get ($89 with taxes, pet fee). The atrium was gorgeous & unique, though pool & hot tub weren't operational. Continental breakfast was free. Lady working there was sweet. Room itself was spacious, clean, and no bugs. King size mattress. Showers were hot. Black out curtains on the slider door to the atrium (no windows otherwise). A/C worked well. Quiet other than a couple truck's Jake brakes. We got a good night's rest. Place feels like it was swankier at one point, but to make it that way again would mean the rooms would have to cost much more. It is a budget motel, so adjust expectations accordingly. Overall, it's really a treat that it still exists, and on the budget end, for us all to enjoy. Highly recommend!

This motel is in a remote, barren wasteland ten minutes from Ozona. It’s surrounded by stray cats and abandoned vehicles. The restaurant that is advertised all over it as 24 hours is most certainly not 24 hours. The location is honestly kinda spooky and dystopian, but the rooms were surprisingly spacious and clean. My room led to the creepy abandoned pool area that looks to have been out of commission for quite some time. What a strange place, but a fine one to sleep for a night with my cat. I did wake up with my left eye lid swollen, but have no idea what could’ve bit me because I didn’t see any bugs (and I always give the beds a bedbug check when I first get in).

Old and outdated but made one heck of a place to lay my head! I know there are some negative comments but for it being the only place around and for price it’s nice. Pulled in and gentleman at desk greeted me with open arms and even hooked the nightly rate up compared to online price. In the morning Miss Ann who is the sweetest woman ever was making fresh coffee and making sure everything was out n ready for their guest. She even had a fire going near the breakfast table for us. And dang Ann can make some good coffee! She talked to me and gave me a little history of the hotel. She made the stay even more pleasant. Ill stay again when I’m passing through!

Beware of this place. I made a booking online through Expedia and when I arrived the man in the front desk asked me to pay again in cash and to get it refunded through the website. He said he did not take online bookings. I called the booking agency and they reached out but he would not let us check in or issue a refund. He made it an ordeal and we weren't able to stay in the hotel. We ended up leaving as he would not allow anything. I paid online due to it being more secure and had never had such a bad experience with any hotel. It was late at night, its in the middle of the desert and he would not allow us to check in even when Expedia reached out and basically insinuate for us to leave. I would recommend you stay here unless you are there for the night, or just passing by or wanting to pay in person. This was the worst experince I've ever had.Noteworthy details: The manager is rude, and intimidating.

We are taking oversize loads from Houston to Mentone. Ozona is our halfway stopping point. I usually stay at the holiday inn because I like their breakfast. Monday being a bank holiday, I was short on funds and I was able to book here with points cheap. Honestly I didn’t even know this place was here. I’ll stay here again I’m sure. The water was hot, and the room was clean. My 2 main “biggies”.the staff were nice. I needed extra towels because my wife was with me. No biggie. They had them for me when I returned from eating. There is a Turbo Joes connected to the motel, as well as a 24 hr truck stop. I ate in town so I can’t comment on the food, but the coffee at the truck stop is good. Overall. Was a good stay. It’s older. The motel needs some maintenance and some upgrades but for the price I couldn’t complain. Again, it was clean. Hot water. Friendly staff. And the store/resttaruamnt is literally connected. I added a photo to show how close the restaurant and store is to the front door.Food & drinks: Attached restaurant and store

Booked here against my better judgment but after looking at a room decided to go ahead and stay. The rooms are very spacious. Mostly clean, carpet is pretty new looking, so it’s clean too. 🙌 Beds are pretty comfy 🤗with decent pillows. No bugs!!! Balconies upstairs. Don’t think there’s an elevator. Friendly service. Huge parking with hotel lot and truck stop (we’re traveling with oversize). Restaurant closed for remodeling. Truckstop has hot food (Chester’s Chicken) quiet. Park at ur door. Tub/shower. Reasonable rates. I will stay again if coming thru. Other food choices all the way in Ozona, like seven miles. Satisfied.

Had no problems with our stay here. No bed bugs (some other reviews complained about bugs). Large rooms. The place is old, but that doesn’t bother me. What does bother me is that the official phone number and email address are incorrect. You cannot contact them if you have any problems. I am posting a pic of a historic marker that is attached to the hotel that I found very interesting.

Stayed 05/29/22For the fantastic security lighting on the property/parking lots, the hotel rate being competitive for the area, and for pet friendliness, I absolutely LOVE this hotel. The hotel room itself was CLEAN and COMFORTABLE. We experienced no bugs that others referenced in their reviews. Best wishes, Republic Hotel!I regret not taking more pictures, but I think other reviewer photos captured the gist. I’d say the MOST impressive aspect of the property was how BRIGHTLY LIT the lots are after dark. This brought immense peace of mind to us as we were moving into Texas with a lot of cargo.Yes, it is run down, but they are making obvious renovations. It has SO much promise! The atrium and the sliding glass doors/patios are nice touches! I would really love to visit in the future and see what has become of it.

Kind receptionist, and the pool area was nice. Some areas seemed a bit rundown, and it needs a bit more upkeep (the closet doors did not slide well, scratched doors, etc). Overall, though, it felt decently clean and safe. The rooms were roomier than expected.

It was disgusting. The pics are not how it really is. You need to go and pay to the gas station. They just sell things like for a motelAnd it says hotel. Everything was dirty and smelled bad. I wasn’t able to stay there. I was worried about bugs 🐜. The bathroom was dirty. Really poor condition. Even though it was the only place to stay I will always prefer to sleep inside of my car.

Our room looked NOTHING like the pictures. Everything was very dated, which I usually don’t mind but the carpet had stains all over it. Sheets were clean, but the beds were very creaky so didn’t make for a good nights sleep. The atrium with the pool looked closed & run down. Pool was empty with leaves in it & there was caution tape around the gazebo. As for the rest of the area, it just felt very unsafe being so close to the road with lots of truckers. Will be talking to the manager about updating the pictures because they are a straight up LIE! Only positive was the lady at the front desk was nice.

Thought I would give it a shot and I'm sorry I did. $89 for a Thursday night, booked directly through the hotel at the front desk and it ended up being $20 more than expected and was quoted on all the sites so that is immediately annoying. Some of these reviews were mixed so I was hopeful but I was immediately skeezed out upon entering the room. It smells like cigarettes, which is giving me a headache. I want to get in my car and drive several more hours if that is what is necessary to find a nicer place to sleep for the night at this point. Gonna try to duke it out since it's just for one night, but I feel uneasy here for some reason, which is very disappointing. Seriously though....$80+ for this room is pathetic, and they should be ashamed to charge that much. This cr@p is worth $50 tops, and that's being generous considering the state of the room. Dilapidated curtains, ceiling, even the toilet paper holder is the equivalent to a truck stop TP holder that doesn't turn and you have to unravel it by hand. God help me I was more comfortable in my car and that's saying something.

It was a bed to sleep in. My biggest complaint is that they removed the smoke/carbon monoxide detector. They hadn’t replaced it. And then there were the stained sheets, leaking tub faucet, and the floor didn’t look vacuumed when we arrived. Also, there was no soap or shampoo. We had to go to the front desk to ask for some. But it was a bed to sleep in.

Not our first time staying here, but if it is yours, just know that the pictures can be deceiving. It is great if you are just staying for the night but don't recommend it for longer than that. They offer breakfast but don't have many options. It's definitely a place for older people.Safety: Bright parking lot.

Road Trip third night decided to spend here a night. The room was quite clean & restroom the shower wouldn’t work. Had free BF before we leave at the lobby. Nice small shop near the hotel in the gas station.

Our little hide a way when we are in Ozona. Laundry available at truck stop. Love the atrium. Even tho the pool was closed it was still a neat area to have a quiet moment after a long day and visit with the resident cat. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is it's old and needs a good cleaning but the beds and shower are pretty good. We will be back.

It's the worst and most disgusting hotel I've stayed in. Ever. Will never come back. The room is extremely dirty, plus a big ladder in the room right in front of the bathroom blocking the door. The toilet and bath tub are very dirty with black dirt, black smear. The fridge doesn't keep anything cold. My food went bad the next morning and water is still warm. Only one towel and one tiny soap bar. The worst part is the a/c. It doesn't work at all. We got there in August and it's 100 degrees every day. The air in the room is 81. Horrible! We tried to look for someone in the lobby and nobody was there! We checked a few times over the hour and still nobody in the lobby. If I could give this place a zero star I would. Save your money and headache and go to the other one 9 minutes away. The holiday Inn Express is much better. It was super late into the night around midnight when we discovered the a/c and our 3 year old was extremely tired so we didn't have another choice.

This is a great hotel rooms are very nice for the price. Indoor pool is very nice the pool area and spa are like being in an tropical island. The staff are very helpful and nice. I have stayed there several times and enjoy it every time. The restaurant next door has great home cooking and super friendly. And the truck stop store is always well stocked. Huge truck parking lot. Has a race car museum up the street by the rv park but you can only look thru the large windows at them been closed to the public for years now.

very poor quality hotel. We stayed in a "pet friendly" room, and everyone got chewed up by bugs. There must have been fleas in the room, because my partner and I woke up with bites all over. Fire alarms were broken, sink was broken, furniture was damaged, pool and hot tub both closed, and wifi is non-existent. All you get is a bed and toilet, that's pretty much it. The rooms are very poorly insulated, you'll hear trucks and yelling all night. This is a cheap option, and you're getting what you pay for.afterthought: +1 star because the night check-in lady was very nice, and there's a sweet cat that hangs out in the lobby.

Driving across country and found this jewel. It's an older property but everything was functional, the carpet was new so no odor in the room. What I loved about it was the indoor pool atrium. The hot tub was nice and the sitting areas were nice. If I lived in the area, I would come here for an inexpensive staycation.

My rating goes towards a motel/B&B definitely not a hotel! This is a clean motel right off road I-10 to sleepover on our way to Big Bend National Park. I It’s best for truck drivers. They include a continental breakfast, but have a restaurant across the street opening at 6:30am with a full healthy breakfast. The room has a good working AC, a microwave and a small empty fridge which can fit a box of water bottles for your next day and snacks/sandwiches etc. There’s no coffee maker or anything extra like a shower cap, hair blow dryer etc. The motel has 2 floors and has a free parking by the windows. I saw separate parking areas for RVs and big trucks. I heard dogs as well but thank Gd they stopped barking at 1am.There’s a gas station on that lot and a convenient store across the street where I found a cowgirl hat for rodeo and that’s where they leave keys for late check-ins.Overall, as a motel and great location with everything located in the area, it deserves my 5 stars.

Clean place. Really old, do not expect any luxury, but room was clean which is all I needed and the price was far lower than the other hotels in the area. Includes basic breakfast. Pool is pretty much closed (or at least I wouldn't use it.

In this hotel that cost us $80 for a night, we found Nats (alive as you can see in the wall right in between the bed and the night stand and dead as you can see in the table), we found a sink that we used to wash our hands the first day when we got there and the second day the water is still there because neither the drainage of the bathtub nor the sink were working, but for me, the worst waa the residues of feces in a towel that was supposed to be clean. For my husband the worst was the fact that the guy in the front desk asked for a $10 dollars non refundable deposit for a puppy that was with us, which is ok, but the guy insisted on those $10 to be paid in cash: hop yourself to the conclusions. Around the hotel there's are a few trash cans and between those and the hotel, at least 350, 000 flies, super nasty. I mean, you are walking in the curbside in the side of the hotel and it's like someone woke up those insects and suddenly you are surrounded by them. They have a restaurant that's broken and close, a deli that went bankrupted maybe 50 years ago and a gas station that has some old deli food. It seems the hotel and the gas station are run by some indian family with a super bad English and horrible attitude although I must say, the front desk got us ice (there's a bucket in the room but it's empty and there's no ice in the hotel) and recommended some restaurants in downtown (7 miles away). There's a pool that looks nice... just during the night. Conclusions: don't stay there unless it's extremely necessary, if you have to, bring your insect repellent, your towel, your coffee and your filter for the little coffee maker as there's one coffee maker but there's no coffee and there's no filter. Don't forget your water and be prepared to brush your teeth in the bathroom, inside of the bathtub.
