I have been going to avians and exotics for well over a year now. Dr. Ray is well educated and extremely friendly. My bearded dragon had an infection and Dr. Ray,Lucas,and Alana have helped so very much in treating her and getting her on the road to recovery. Dr. Ray and Lucas have worked with my rough work schedule,and come in on off days just to get my girl her medicine refills. If that doesn’t say enough about them and how much they care I don’t know what to tell you! Your exotic friend will be treated with the upmost care when choosing these Amazing people to help them out, and nothing less. Me and Izzy Both thank you all!

My youngest, M, has a snake that got upper respiratory infection and needed a four-week course of treatments. Over those four weeks I witnessed Dr Ray interact with pets and parents. She is very comfortable with both and she takes time to explain how to care for your pet.

Dr Ray and her staff are awesome. I am traveling from Florida with my pet parakeet Minka, she has to have a procedure done every month. Dr Ray wanted Minka’s recorded before she would take her and I appreciate that very much. Dr. Ray took us in and gave us the best loving care. She is soft spoken and so gentle. She explains everything and even shows you what you need to know. I could go on and on how fabulous she is. I wish she was every veterinarian I will need to see on my travel. I prayed for someone like her, and will continue to do so on our journey. Her staff Raven and Lucas are awesome they took care of all my needs and appointments and records that needed to be forward to the next Doctor. Dr Ray cares for her patients really cares. Thank you for helping me and making Minka feel better.🐦🙏

Nice waiting area for smaller pets and very hands on. They showed me the equipment and I was with Yoshi the whole time, none of that waiting in a empty room for your pet.

Dr. Ray and her staff are outstanding!!! She takes the time to explain and listen to you. I'm a beginner reptile mom and she took the time to educate and instruct me on any questions I had. I'll continue to use her for our exotic pets. Hands down one of the best vets I've ever been to.

Will never go anywhere else. Absolutely loved each person we were in contact with. Being new to birds, we had alot of questions and probably a little over worried and all that was put to ease. Wish they seen people.

Had an emergency with my 2 year old bearded dragon. We have been coming to this vet for 2 years! I have their membership that includes after hour critical care, however, no one was answering. I called at least 20 times from 11-2:10. Their lunch is only posted on their door so you have to drive all the way out there to find out their break is from 12-2. I put her in the car and made the 35 min drive only to find out they weren't open for another hour. I knew my beardy didn't have much time so I found a different vet, they answered immediately. THANK GOD! I told them the situation and they advised me to come in as soon as possible. We jumped in the car and they took her back right when we walked in, and mind you, I have NEVER been there before. Turns out an egg yolk ruptured, caused and infection, and if not treated immediately, would be fatal. WHY IS A VET CLOSED FROM 4 on a Friday to MONDAY....When there are only a few exotic vets in the city??? I do not recommend this place for any reptile. If it wasn't for Belle Forest my bearded dragon would not be here today!!! Also…they charge way more than other vets do! DO NOT USE THIS VET!

I absolutely love this company! We have 4 pherrets and this company has went above and beyond. One of our pherre5s died recently and they made us feel so comfortable during our time of loss. We even received an urn for Appa. If you have pherrets or anything exotic this is the place to go.

Called several times and left messages, also emailed never even received a response. I honestly can’t vouch for their services once you actually talk to them but the lack of ability to take calls seems like a big issue if you’re a vets office. I got lucky and found a wonderful office willing to help me and my baby in another state but if you have an emergency don’t call these people during open hours or bother to email. You won’t get a reply. I guess after 10 years in business they can’t be bothered

It did take a little while to get an appt. But staff are patient, professional, and caring. The Veterinarian here was helpful and explained my pets health needs in a clear and understanding way

I had paid for a yearly membership that would supply me with access to after hours emergency vet calls. I considered it a good value at the time as Nashville does not really have any emergency vets in the area that caters to exotics.I called last night after I discovered my snake had lodged her prey horizontally in her mouth and gotten it stuck. It unfortunately had been stuck for a good number of hours as I had left her alone to eat and she has NEVER had issues eating. I frantically called the vet hoping for some advice on what to do next. I never received a call back despite calling 2x. I was able to dislodge the prey item from her mouth but the damage had already been done. She passed away this morning from her injuries.I finally received a call back from the vet this morning. I let it go to voicemail as I didn't think I would have anything nice to say as I'm still very much upset/angry. I can't help but wonder if maybe I had been able to use the paid service as intended, if I my snake would still be here.

Highly recommend for your exotic pets! I brought my tortoise for a respiratory infection and everyone has been great! The vet assistants and veterinarian are very knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you for being there for us!

Never Ever Ever Ever stop by this place without calling!!! I was treated extremely rude for stoping in to get a refill of medicine for my dove around lunch time. They've always been fairly nice up until today so I'm giving them a 2 rating because of the way I was treated.

I really can’t say enough good things about this place, but here’s my story!My Evie was a patient there, and every time Dr Ray was nothing but sweet to him. First with his adrenal glands, which was a simple fix and left him feeling better than ever.In February of 2021, I brought him in because he wasn’t doing too well. He was dehydrated (despite having plenty of fresh water readily available/accessible) and not eating much. Dr Ray put him in an incubator, gave him a little syrup to help his low blood sugar. She wanted to get bloodwork done, but because of his dehydration it wasn’t possible. It wasn’t looking good, but I remember what Dr Ray said to me: “as long as he wants to keep fighting, we will too.” I can’t tell you how much that meant to me. Because he still wasn’t doing too well, I went ahead and took him home with me early (we didn’t know how much time he had left, I wanted him to be at home if he did).Because of the care my Evie received, he was able to live another 2 months after that and passed away peacefully at home in a warm bed. Although I am still saddened by his passing, it was because of Dr Ray that I was able to have those extra 2 months with him. Dr Ray is hands down the best veterinarian I have ever met, and it’s very obvious she loves what she does. And not to mention the staff, they were wonderful with him as well!I don’t know if I’ll ever get another ferret, but if I do… I’ll be bringing them here. I do know I’ll be bringing my rabbit in for any future veterinary care!Thank You!

I made the 1 hr trip here from Clarksville because I really wanted someone who understood and specialized in ferrets, and can honestly say my 5 babies have found their forever vet! I feel very confident in Dr. Ray and her knowledge of ferrets, she definitely knew what she was talking about and took the time to explain everything, and the stinkers also had the time of their lives running around the exam room. We loved it here ❤ Much thanks to Dr. Ray and the staff!

This was our first time and let me tell you how relieved and happy I am at how much Dr. Ray loves and cares for your pet like it’s her own. She also takes the time to educate you, which I love!! Her front desk was also just as sweet. I gave four stars because I didn’t like her vet tech, he had this condescending attitude and over talked me like he knew it all and couldn’t handle my bunny which made me really nervous. When the doc got there everything was better she loved on my bunny and even gave her so much lovin and held her to where she was comfortable. I am so lucky I found her!!😍😍 You can tell she truly loves animals and I wouldn’t want it any other way .

Yesterday was my last day working as Dr. Ray’s Veterinary Assistant and I feel like now I can appropriately give a review of this clinic. I was a client here with my bearded dragon before I ever started working at the clinic, and Dr. Ray has always treated my pet as if he were her own. After working here for almost a year I discovered she has this same love and passion for all of her client’s pets (and any of these reviews that claim otherwise don’t have a clue what they’re talking about). On the other hand she also has a big heart for her clients and tries her best to educate everyone who steps into the clinic about these amazing animals that we all keep as our babies. I won’t go too much into working there, but this was easily one of the most interesting and fun jobs I’ve had and probably ever will have. Dr. Ray was more of a mentor and a friend than a “boss” in my opinion and she’ll continue to be my primary veterinarian for my current and future exotic pets regardless if I’m working there anymore. I’m so thankful I got to have the experiences here that I did and this clinic deserves all of the 5 stars I’m giving it.EDIT: I didn’t even last a couple days at my new job before I realized I much preferred my work at the clinic and I asked Dr. Ray if I could come back, so here I am again!

I came into today with an emergency. My beardie had not eaten in a few weeks. They did everything they could to work with me to make sure I understood how to handle my beardie's illness and helped me to understand how to treat her. I'm very thankful for the patience and kindness of the staff. This place will definitely be my vet of choice moving forward.

My ferret (who was my world) came to her when he was 3 and we had been to about 10 other vets and no one could find the problem. She diagnosed him the 1st visit and although with his health problems he shouldn't have lived more that a year, with Dr. Ray's expert care I got 4 more years with him. There are no words to express my gratitude towards her and I would strongly recommend her to anyone who owns an exotic pet.

I first rated Dr. Ray and her staff 5 stars 2 or so years ago when I had rescued a very unhealthy adult hedgehog. Dr. Ray was amazing and took wonderful care of her through her recovery. Dr. Ray is still my primary exotic veterinarian and deserves more than 5 stars. In these 2 years or so, she has successfully removed 2 tumors from 2 of my 5 rats, taught me how to wonderfully care for my rats with their horrible mycoplasma, and cured multiple ear infections. She truly cares deeply for all of her patients and only performs necessary procedures. The clinic is completely stress free for exotics. I am a veterinary technician and I wont take my exotics to work with me because of all the stress of barking dogs etc. I always feel comfortable leaving my babies with Dr. Ray. Don't believe the negative comments. Dr. Ray is wonderful.

Been trying to call and make an appointment almost everyday for the last week. Ended up having to book an appointment with a different avian specialist that’s much further away. I would really like to try this place but they apparently don’t want make appointments.

We are so lucky to have Dr. Ray here in Nashville. We live about an hour away. I tried a local vet in town for my small parrot that was having respiratory problems. After a few wasted months in which we could easily have lost our girl, we found Dr. Ray. She spotted the problem, which was a vitamin deficiency, right away. She otherwise would have continued on antibiotics and never gotten well. She has never rushed our appointments and always explains everything that is going on. Love her staff, too. Wish I would have gone there much, much sooner. If you have a small pet or bird she is the vet to see.

Beyond disappointed with this place. I had a pet emergency. Now I had talked to the vet Friday night, she said sounded like my pet had time, as in not an emergency. I explained to her the financial trouble in the situation, so she was aware I didn't have much in available funds. Well over the weekend it became clear this was an emergency. I show up first thing Monday as they opened. Apparently even if they are open, they aren't treating as the vet comes in as she feels like it. Left name and number again so they could call me when she was available. I got a call , I didn't answer as I had found another vet that actually works, so they left a message. I could come in and they would try to see me in between appointments however, to do so, there would be an additional 85 fee for the emergency visit on top of the normal exam fee and whatever treatment would cost. Talk about trying to take advantage of someone in a tight spot and emergency situation. I will not ever take my pets here or recommend them since they don't seem to care about your pet, but money gouging they do like to do. If I could give 0 stars I would. Shame on you for trying to take advantage of someone in need instead of caring about the animal in peril.

I have been taking my ferrets to Dr Ray for 6 yrs now. They all have lived to be geriatric in age and some she has treated with life threatening illnesses back to health or made comfortable during their illnesses. I will recommend her clinic to anyone who has exotic pets.

They have been treating our baby Hedgie for mites and an accompanying infection for the past few weeks. They have been incredibly kind to us and caring to our little one and also incredibly knowledgable on every detail of her care and treatment. She has made drastic improvements since beginning treatment. I couldn't be more thankful for them and I highly recommend their services and expertise.

Very knowledgeable vet! She took care of my leopard gecko and helped me get him better. I also adopted another gecko she said someone didnt take care of and was malnourished and left it. Her name is Wendy and she had a leg she didnt use due to not being taken care of. She is now strong and healthy and uses her leg. I definitely recommend this place!

Dr. Ray is an excellent, very knowledgeable, very diligent and hard working professional. As both an employee and a client, I can easily say that Dr. Ray knows what she is talking about when it comes to these cute little guys (or not so little guys). She would gladly take hours explaining everything you would ever need to know about your exotic pet, if that is what you needed.And as an employer, she has always been very fair and understanding about things that happen outside of work. But she will always make sure that the workplace stays professional and well maintained. For the amount of time I have been working under Dr. Ray, I have never seen anything that would EVER make me feel like I am in an unsafe work environment. She is very protective of her employees and makes sure we always have everything we could need to do our job.I highly recommend Dr. Ray to anyone with an exotic pet and will continue to for as long as she is in practice (which will be a very long time!).
