We had a wonderful time! Beautiful river to float/ kayak down. The campground and amenities were well kept and clean. Sweet friendly staff. Loved hanging out with the park pups, Bentley and Bo! We will definitely come back! And I would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful kayaking experience on the Piney River. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The views are outstanding, and the river is so beautiful and clear. We brought our own kayaks and just had the shuttle service to the drop off site. They loaded and unloaded our kayaks and dropped us off, which made the process so much easier for us! I can't wait to return!

Everybody was very friendly. The trip was awesome and beautiful. There are a lot of places to stop on the float to swim, eat, and hang out. The Piney is a real clean river with a lot of nice swimming holes. The only draw back was the river was down so there was extra get out and drag your kayak to deeper water. Also it's a long distance from where the float ends and where you load up your kayak or canoe but one of the staff helped me carry them up to the pick up area. Also the hill down to the river js a little treacherous with no handrails. All and it all had a wonderfully great time and plan on camping there next year. I will definitely do it again.

Love this place! I bring my own kayaks and use the shuttle to get back to the put-in. Everyone is always super friendly. With the new traffic flow pattern, I appreciated the extra muscle helping take the kayaks back to the truck. The river is always beautiful. Pet friendly.

What a beautiful river . The staff were friendly and helpful. We kayak all over Kentucky Tennessee and Missouri. Pinewood is one of the most beautiful and friendly places we go .**STOP THE PINEWOOD SURF CLUB**We would hate to see this river ruined.

Online reservations make it easy to rent canoes $45 & kayaks $35. The Piney River is fun to travel down. Beautiful scenery & some wildlife make for a relaxing trip. Although shallow in many places there are several deeper swimming holes and plenty of shoreline if you want to pull over for awhile. Sign waiver, pick up life-vests and get taxied to the put-in spot. Plan on a 3 1/2 - 4 hr trip down the river. Once you arrive at the take out spot you can stay and swim, hang out and/or camp. Bathrooms were clean and there is limited “beach” merchandise for sale. Bring your ice chest and have a blast.

Thank you for a wonderful Labor Day weekend! The facilities are nice to have, using a toilet versus a porta potty or the trees is always a plus. The employees were wonderful and let us know up front that the water was a little low, so we were prepared, but no big deal, it actually made it a little easier for our youngest to paddle her own kayak. The water was crystal clear! I also love that they have a ramp to haul the kayaks/canoes down that is paved on top of gravel to give it grip - with a semi busted knee, I need traction to get down the hills. Out of the several places we've gone, this was my favorite place to get on the water due to ease. The only complaint was our neighbors camping to the right were as loud as they could be until at least 4am and were up again at 7am, and partying again until midnight the next night, but what can you do? It comes with the territory of camping. This was also our Jack Russell's first time on the river and she loved it. We'll definitely be coming back. Thanks again, Pinewood!

The kayaking is 5 Star for sure very nice equipment the people where very friendly and nice too. It say 6 miles it's about 5 really but still worth $30 for the views. Definitely had a few spots that where more difficult but made it even more fun. It's a real adventure! The camping is beautiful too more rustic the bathrooms are a bit rough however and could use some work. My only complaint is that they didn't stop the people screaming, fighting, and partying till 2 am while me and my children tried to sleep. Definitely will be back though if not just for the kayaking!

Took a trip out to Nunnelly, TN to visit the Pinewood Canoe Camp and see if I could rent a kayak and float down the Piney River and maybe catch some fish. I didn’t have a reservation and seeing as it was Father’s Day I didn’t have high hopes, but I also had a Plan B if this fell through. Luckily, they had just finished an updated boat count and they had a few available so off I went. The trip is about 6 miles long and is not very difficult with some mild water flow. This is a beautiful area, plenty of spots to beach the boat and relax on the gravel beaches, or hit some of the shaded areas under the cliffs. On this trip I caught five largemouth bass and snagged one catfish on a crankbait. I’m sure during quieter and lower traffic on the water, the fishing possibilities here are incredible. The water is refreshingly cool and clean with an abundance of fish and critters (crawfish, snakes, frogs, turtles, etc.) to see. I spent a total of five hours on the water and ended up back where I parked and was on my way. I plan to come back and visit this place and rent a boat from Pinewood again.

Lady running it today was very nice , despite the reviews about rude service. But be prepared to wait up to an hour for the bus to take you upriver ; they only have one driver running shuttles. Campground area looks nice, small playground for kids, bathrooms, and big pebbly beach area for relaxing ! Kayak rentals include shuttle ride upriver . Took us 2 hours to kayak the 6 Miles downriver because current was very fast (we barely actually kayaked other than to steer).

Do.Not.Recommend. For the elderly, kids, toddlers, babies, or uneducated folks! If you want a grass field with power that sometimes works or no power then this is your place! If it rains be prepared to flood I do not recommend it for children. Esp canoeing! Do not even try! We had a big group and everyone flipped their boats. I've been canoeing a lot and have never flipped. This is great for adults who know what they're doing the water has several spots where it's "white waters" It's great tbh and even better swimming area but the water does pull so be careful and always use a life jacket but again do not recommend it for first-timers, uneducated or young children. They did not show anyone how to use paddles we had several first-timers and we were concerned that they didn't have anyone show us how to operate the canoe. In most places they do. So red flags. But we went anyway. You have to put your canoe /yak in yourself. They have a "ramp" but to be honest it's wonky and awkward. The place has potential I wish they had running water and better layouts for camping spaced-out campsites instead of all on top of each other. And the driveway to the office was hella bumpy lots of big dips and prob not the easiest for cars. The staff was very nice and all but I'm a bougie camper I guess.

We had a great first time experience kayaking down the Piney River. Booked reservations online, showed up and the Pinewood team was great. Shuttled us upriver, picked out our kayaks (in great condition) and had an excellent few hours on the water.Crystal clear cool water, fun little rapids, incredible scenery, saw a lot of fish/wildlife and just happened to stop for lunch on a beach with a view of a bald eagles nest!! We were fortunate enough to watch the bald eagle fly in to feed its baby and then watched it fly off again. Highly recommend!

This place is next level for those seeking sheer beauty in the outdoors in middle Tennessee. Not crowded at all during the week but with the reservation on the weekend.Once you go down this river, you won't float down any other commercially or for a glimpse into nature

Loved that I could book and check in online. Great feature. Bus picked us up right away and brought us to the drop off. I liked this river… a little away from Nashville but less tourists. Some nice scenery and places to pull off and enjoy a snack or a beverage. Will plan to go back soon.

Beautiful place out in the sticks. Loved the float and camping there would be fun. Lots of rock bluffs and jumps for swimming. There are lots to see for wildlife watchers. Great float for bird watchers. Lots of turtles everywhere as well. Bring water and stacks there are a few spots to get out relax and picnic. Please pack out your trash. Don't forget take nothing but pictures leave nothing but footprints and kill nothing but time. Oh and bring bug spray. Lol Enjoy your float

genuinely the most uncomfortable stay of my life. was told i could lock the bathroom door by an employee since the mens and the womens were very close together and me and my family needed to stay close. then as we are changing we hear an extremely loud banging on the bathroom to find out that the boss or manager or whatever wasn’t informed her employee told us we could lock the bathroom door. we proceeded to say that we were changing out in the open and we needed a minute before opening the door. she then begins COUNTING to ten before she proceeds to yell very loudly saying she will “break down the door”. i then go up to confront the lady and she proceeds to say she was not yelling and that nobody told us we could lock the door. if u don’t want WOMEN locking the bathroom door make the bathrooms further apart to prevent men from walking in. absolutely horrible stay. left 3 days early because of this

Had a wonderful float on July 6th. The water was beautiful, the lady checking us in was very nice but the transport driver was another story. He was very unfriendly and actually seemed as though he hated his job. We rented kayaks and when we got to the put in location he put us out and pointed us to the kayaks and pointed to the ramp and never offered to lift a hand to help us in any way at all. I've rented from multiple outfitters and the guys always help getting the kayaks and help put you in. Very disappointed in his service.

Took my own kayak to do some bass fishing for the day. Beautiful area! The crew was prompt and professional. Definitely a popular area to float and can be super busy on the water so not the best for fishing when busy especially on the weekends. Overall, very nice place and will be back.

The people who run the place are nice. They have a great selection of kayaks, plenty of paddles and life vests. The river is beautiful and has a great flow of water. There seems there is some huge development that wants to build in the area, that would totally mess up the river and ruin it. If that happens, I would be afraid that would effect use of the river. I hope the development doesn’t materialize.

I've been to Pinewood several times for kayaking. They do a great job, are easy to work with, and treat their customers well. It's easy to reserve a kayak online which makes the whole process easier. We had an injury on our trip and they kindly refunded the member of our party her rental fee. Highly recommend!

In my humble opinion, there's something about the Piney River you can not get anywhere else. And there is something about this Campground that makes me a cut above everyone else. The people. The pups. The water. The locals. We are so lucky to have them every summer. ❤️
