I can only speak to the knowledge of the outdoor power equipment staff. I called and asked for a very specific tool for sharpening a very specific saw chain. I was told they did have it in stock. So I drove 45 minutes, arriving 10 minutes before they closed only to discover that they did not in fact have it. But before we could establish that they didn’t have it, they told me that the chain size I was referring to didn’t exist. After pointing out that they had files on their shelf clearly labeled for the size I was referring to they went to the back again. When they returned again they said it was a miscommunication. I really don’t view this as a matter of miscommunication. This is a matter of them not knowing the products that they sell. For a store that sells itself on product and process knowledge, it’s embarrassing to not know what product I was asking for, but even worse to not know that a certain size chain exist. And they have a saw on the shelf equipped with the chain in question.

Friendly and helpful staff. They have a little bit of everything and even have a lot of great gift items available. I wish their pricing was a little more competitive but I understand they don't do quite the volume as some of the bigger box stores.

Ace hardware, and even more so Elder's Ace Hardware, always has superior service, not to even be compared with other hardware stores, so when I say that Carey surprised me with over the top unbelievable service, I mean this even relative to their usual top tier serviceShe was ringing up a customer when I walked in and immediately directed me to the right aisle and location for the product I was looking for, seamless multitasking, and when I couldn't find it she went right to it immediately and was super helpfulWhen I got to the register she had run over there and was also even the one to check me out, there was a line of four or five people so I expected a wait but it was incredibly fast10/10 fails to describe, 100/100 doesn't really cut it, on a scale of 1000 it was literally 1000/1000, could not even think what could have been done better

Bought a 100 lbs propane tank, they handled everything perfectly and quickly. Also, if you buy a new 20 lbs grill propane tank from them, the first fill is free. Great staff at this location!

They stock more items than you would think they would. Store is bigger on the inside than it appears from the road. Very friendly and super helpful. Prices seemed very competitive compared to big box stores. Purchased a Toro lawn mower which was $75 less than big box locations.

Elders NEVER disappoints! I needed assistance purchasing an electric trimmer. Upon entering the store, the manager noticed me looking, asked if I needed assistance, and promptly sent Juan my way. Juan spent a great deal of time with me making sure I had everything I needed. Juan took the time to show me everything I needed to know about the tool I purchased. I was able to go right home, charge it, and use it without a problem. This type of customer assistance means a LOT. Another shout out to the fine folks in the back loading dirt and mulch. They do a great job and make things so much easier to get what we needed. Great leadership and great employees at Dixie Lee Junction! Thanks Elders, I’m a customer for life.

Overall a pretty good store. I was surprised they didn't offer to help load a self-propelled push mower I purchased. I mean I managed, but it would have been a good gesture. I am used to that level of service from the Ace here is Loudon, but they didn't have the mower I wanted in stock.

My experience at Elder's ACE Hardware was a complete state of confusion for me , when I took my weed eater into the repair shop for repairs, after informing the attendant of the equipment failures I was told that a 35 dollars .plus tax will be require up front before being touched. I felt like me as a customer was being taken or ripped off up front. I was told that this fee was a diagnostic charge and be included the finial repair ofthe weed eater. Well when I recieved my equipment I was told that all the 35 dollars plus tax covered the repairs so you only pay for parts. Here is the second shock, 1 spark plug, 1 fuel filter, 1 air filter, and justing the carburetor was over 60 + dollars so I've invested well over a hundred dollars to fix my weed eater that was flooding out. This was my experience and feeling that ACE Hardware owners are not thinking much of theircustomers by invoking such a 35 dollar + tax on any equipment brought in for repairs. I was charged tax on the up front 35 dollar surcharge and another tax on parts after repairs. PS I have to say that every person that I encountered during this experience at Ace was very friendly and kind, they did their jobs.

I really like Elders, but after the recent layout change... I may never find anything again.Updated my prior review to 5-stars. I should have been more patient after their remodeling. These guys are great and always seem to have what I need to finish the project-du-jour... great fastener selection..!

They say they fill propane but the kid needs a little more training. A 30# cylinder holds 7 gallons with room for expansion. They only put 6.1 & 6.2 gallons in them that's only 24#. Liquid propane does NOT expand 20%! Also, their brass fittings and pipe fittings isle is so disorganized that you better have time to look through every rack. You would think it would be organized by size or type of fitting, but no organization at all.

I have shopped at Elder's Ace Hardware for 20+ years. They are always eager to help, very knowledgeable and exceptionally pleasant. Their prices are reasonable and they almost always have what I want. They are an A+ local hardware store.

Oldest person in this place is 25. They have stuff but no one can tell you where it is because they dont know what it is. Order and paid for stihl parts and they forget to order them. Buy 2 stihl chainsaws (ms362, ms211cbe) and a stihl safety kit, stihl axe, stihl wedges, inside of a month and get bad customer service…. No thanks. Theyre polite when you walk though the door but if you have a problem that turns around quick, because they have no clue. Bearden is great, South knox is great, Halls is great. Its just Dixie Lee i have had bad service. Its not the 18 yr old girl who doesnt know what a street elbow is that bothers me. Its the 19 year old trainee that tells you they dont know how to look something up, dont know how to do that and suggests you go somewhere else. Actually told me a stihl servicing dealer cannot order parts. Go back when Drew the stihl guy is there and he can though. If they remember to. I dont know who is training the trainees but they they may wanna go check out one of the other Elder stores for a day. Its just this store. Every customer always spends so much money and complains blah blah blah and it never turns out to be true in the end, just somebody whining. Bought 2 Flexzilla hoses. Ordered and paid online. Got to store and the wrong hoses were pulled. Fortunately they had the correct hoses on the shelf. Folks were friendly and this is a nice Ace Hardware store. No hesitation going back. Thank you.

Since Dixie Lee Ace is near me, I have gone there quite often to pick up small items instead going to the big box stores where items are normally cheaper in price. One thing I do not like about this Ace store is that I have noticed, often than not, I am overcharged at checkout (versus prices shown at counter). I have brought this to manager's attention a few months ago, but apparently this issue has not been correctly as I was overcharged again just this week. So if you do shop there, you may want to take a note of this before you walk out.Update: I have since gone back to this Ace a few times and noticed that checkout prices have been accurate (as advertised). So, I am good with it, but plan to keep an eye on this issue in the future.

I found they have had what I needed for each of my ~50 visits over the years. Staff is more informed now than in the past. My wife likes to come with so she can visit the shopping area off to the right as you come in.
