Would be 0 stars if possible. Petworks does not care about animals and they are whats known as a "retail rescue", aka they do things for profit instead of for the wellbeing of the animals. They refuse to do any proper health checks, with many of their animals being adopted out with worms and other infectious conditions, even parvo and distemper. Theyve had to close several times this year alone due to how sick all those animals are. Also, i called to report a skinny, neglected dog with no water. The front desk lady was extremely apathetic, and informed me that petworks previously had this same dog in their possession. The previous owners had 3 other dogs , and after they got rid of those petworks returned this dog to those awful people. This rude lady also told me that a week ago while he was still at the shelter, they had him seen by a vet who said he was at a good weight and looked "healthy". Does this dog look healthy and safe to you?Shame on these people. You dont care about animals, you just want the brownie points and the money

My partner and I adopted a cat from here in August. Went through the process with no problems because we live in a well known pet friendly apartment complex. We decided to adopt from Petworks again and went looking for a dog this time. We found the perfect one but was told that they’d have to speak directly to the property manager to get approval to let us adopt her. We’ve already been approved for cats or dogs like several other tenants here. Their process is selective and inconsistent, and we had to leave without the sweet girl we picked as a family.

Petworks is doing a wonderful job of taking care of homeless animals in our area. The building is well kept and the animals are well cared for. I hope more people will stop by there when they are thinking of getting a new pet. They also have animal-related souvenirs such as T-shirts, stuffed animals, etc.

The people I worked with was great, they let me send a few months learning my dogs behavior so I knew everything bout him and we still go up their and use their dog park and see everone. And I see people bash them because they want let you walk out with the animal on the spot and I agree with them just be truthful and let them do their job and you're have your pet in a few days.

If you love dogs the way we do, you'll want to stop by and find your forever best friend. If you can't adopt, at least take advantage of the doggy day out program where you can take one of the shelter dogs out for the day and let them enjoy your compassion and make their stay a little better. Such a great facility and staff.

This shelter was beyond what I imagined. The staff was super helpful and explained everything thoroughly. We brought home “Blanche” (now Lady) and she has fit in more than perfectly! Highly recommend Petworks!

This is a well ran organization with focused love and sacrifice for the dogs and cats. Volunteers are appreciated and provide benefits for the staff, the volunteer, and most of all, the dogs!

Beautiful, clean new building. Staff is wonderful! We’ve adopted three cats and always have a great experience. Edit: we’ve added a fourth sweet Princess from Petworks.

My brother adopted his dog that was perfect for him here. The people are kind and do a great deal to take care of the animals in desperate need of homes and attention. The volunteer program is great and rewarding for those who want to help out too.

I brought my clients to orientation and then to volunteer, staff is very disrespectful to them. Doesn't want to let them do anything that they should be allowed to do because orientation said differently. The lady that did orientation was very sweet and is super helpful when we come. Very disappointed.

I will actually say Petworks turn me down on helping with food on stray animals but the animal control was so nice and helpful about a dog someone hit, they were on top of the situation and the animal control lady was so nice.Buddy, sweet gog i pray they found you a great home!!!

Great place to volunteer! So many doggies need a home but they are happy just to get outside for awhile! Miss Sadie is a very lovable little lap dog and Miss Maddie is new and terrified inside the shelter but is a bundle of energy immediately after she gets out of her cage. ADOPT!!!VOLUNTEER!!! Just take half hour of your day even just a couple of times a month to go walk a dog or just sit in a room full of kitties and give some LOVE❤You will get it right back, I promise😊🐶🐕🐩🐱🐈

If I could give this place zero start I would!!! I have had way too many problems with this place and people being completely rude. Every time I have taken a hurt animal to them they have always been rude and have always tried anything to get them to not take the animal, this last time I had found a mama cat with four kittens about three weeks old. She could not feed them anymore as she was not producing any milk and the poor baby was so raw from trying her best to feed her babies. It was when the hurricane was hitting as well so we had really bad rain. This “animal control “ woman was SO rude. All she done to me and my mom was yell at us, clapping her hands at us like we were stupid (in front of a crowd of people) then told us to throw them back outside because they would be “okay” that they were “used to it” and although me and my mother have 16 cats and 4 dogs of our own we could not do what that cold hearted woman told us to do. Even though it was very difficult for us we took them in and bottle fed them to ensure they would be safe and alive. These people are not there because they love animals. They are there to be rude, selfish and act like they are good people. Far from it!!! This place would be better if they replaced the rude people with people who actually love and care for animals.

Would not recommend this place to anyone they care more about getting the money than they do about the animals well being. When we picked him up his paw was bleeding and it was fresh we tried to get him Sunday, but they wouldn't let us since it's not a business day so they can charge a transaction fee of $50 half the cost for an adoption which is a little ridiculous maybe $20 or $25 so he had to spend another night in that place when he shouldn't have to in an environment that is scary for them and I'm sure stressful. They also had him down as being female how do you mistake that just saying. We have been in there other times and they have been rude. We went to blountville animal shelter and would much rather recommend them to anyone very nice.

All shelters are heartbreaking, but it was so good to see lots of activity going on around their animals. Workers, walkers, and visitors! It is a great place to spend your volunteer time. Take them your lightly used blankets and towels to help during all seasons, but especially during the cold winter months.

Sad went to look at a dog. And the dog had worms. The volunteers that were there were more concerned about the dogs health than the actual paid staff. They complained about having to feed the cats and dogs whatever is donated. But there was plenty of food and toys there for the dogs and cats. They charge a fee of 100.00 to adopt a dog. This is supposed to include vaccinations. Micro chip and the animals being fixed. But they cannot include a rabies vaccine or worms these babies. I do not recommend to anyone.

The staff is horribly rude. I found a puppy and I have a baby and cats. I couldn't keep her I tried. So I called them and they were very rude. But told us to bring her in. Once we brought her in they weren't going to take her and judged us the whole time. Like sorry some people have alot on their plates. I tried to find her a home and give her a chance. It just wasn't working and she needed someone who can give her alot of attention. I highly don't recommend petworks. Only go here if you want to be belittled and judged.

We found a stray injured and very thin dog alongside a mountain road. Trying to be a good citizen/Samaritan we were told by a veterinary clinic to go to this place. They refused to help this poor animal, they wouldn’t even allow me to borrow a leash to get it out of the truck. In fact, the volunteer was told to not help us at all. When we tried to put the dog in the dog park they started videoing us. They accused us of animal cruelty and that we would get a ticket if we left the dog. We actually had to call the police in order to have this resolved. They told the animal control guy lies that we threw the dog out of the truck. They wouldn’t take the dog but then they wouldn’t give us the dog back to get it real help. Once the police showed up they pretended to care by crating the dog and giving it a leash. Then they tried to tell us that we couldn’t put the crated dog in the truck bed because it was going to rain! Are you kidding me!! The woman who apparently runs the place and the short chubby girl were the rudest. Good caring people would have helped. They wouldn’t help this dog because it was found out of their county. Animal lovers……I think not.

Found some kittens that I wanted to turn in safely to be adopted and taken care of and off the streets. Took them into the intake room. Me and another person (who was also dropping off a cat) waited for 30 minutes in that room. Nobody even came in when they saw us through the glass. And they were all talking to one another. So we went through the front entrance after a 45 minute wait.We were immediately helped. When the young girls behind the counter were looking at the kittens gender one of them said “if they’re females we’ll be rich” which I thought was poor taste. And at the end they asked me if I needed my cat carrier back. And I said yes, because I have cats at home. One lady that worked behind the counter rolled her eyes. And their tone changed to rude and condescending after that.Their behavior was unprofessional, unhelpful, condescending. It showed that all those ladies cared about was money, however the volunteers had better attitudes than these ladies did.Get new management and better staff, and work on customer service.

Went to adopt a cat and filled out all the paperwork, just for the woman behind the desk to be rude and nitpick about little things I missed on the paperwork. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and come back, because they were so highly recommended, just for the Same woman to be mean and rude af to my cousin, just by asking a question about their dogs. Hope the animals find loving homes, but I do not recommend this facility.

Although I didn't find my forever friend while I was there today, it's a great place to go if you're looking to adopt a dog. Rest assured, I'm gonna keep going back until i do find that perfect dog that matches up with my needs and personality. It really is a great place.

I would give less but there is no button for it. Called to see if they had picked up my dog. Lady who answered the phone was rude and acted like she didn’t really want to help. Report is they are overflowing and if my dog is there I would go straight to pick him up. Don’t be rude to someone that is already upset over their dog missing. Didn’t even want to take down my name and number, just in case.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The cages appeared clean and well kept. The reason that I deducted a star is that some of the animals could use some additional veterinary care, which seems lax at this facility. I've gotten 2 cats from here, both of which had tapeworms and respiratory infections. I had to take them both to be treated at my own veterinarian less than a week after adopting them.

We have adopted 2 pets from here and the process was smooth both times. Both pets were healthy and fit right into the family. With any volunteer based organization, there will be potential problems and issues and always a mix of reviews. Our experiences were positive. Hopefully yours will be too.
