What can be said that already hasn't been said in all these reviews.Location IS next to a highway and you'll get all the stuff that comes with that. It's also next to a cow/cattle ranch and you will hear(and smell) all that comes with that too.We were contained in a trailer and didn't hear or smell anything while inside. We also bring a white noise machine wherever we go so that helps.Moving on... The place was immaculate. Cleanest KOA ever. Nicest owners ever.Great little store too.Stay here!

We stopped here unexpectedly because of the high winds pulling our camper was getting difficult and didn't want to risk driving anymore. We just wanted to stop, stay for the night, and try again the next day. But when we got here, the lady who was cleaning the bathrooms was very rude to my husband. It was 1pm, and even though we didn't have a reservation and we knew check-in wasn't until 2 p.m., We just wanted to see if they had any spots left, if so we would make reservations and then come back. The lady didn't even want to hear my husband out. All she said (rudely) was, "Check in is 2. I'm the only one here. Check-in is 2! Come back or park and wait. "Well, being work campers, we know that things can be stressful or short staffed. However, being patient and friendly with customers even when short staffed drives your business, which we will not be giving them ours. Sad because that KOA looked nice. We went down the road, found a different campground, paid less, and it's quiet and nice.

Very well groomed, exceptionally clean and friendly staff. They were so accommodating when we called last minute in a bit of a crunch. They run this place very efficiently and it is an excellent, quiet and pretty park with lots of shade trees. Easy to get in an out and able to accommodate large rigs. Plenty of places to walk your dogs WITH 2 fenced in pet areas.

This was the first KOA I stayed at on my 30-day trip. The facility and grounds are immaculate. I loved the mature trees on the property which offered shade. The family running this KOA is fun and efficient. There is no longer a pool at this site, but the wonderful patio with large-sized games for the kids, comfy chairs for us older folks and other amenities makes up for it. I personally enjoyed the quiet of the park without the pool! There's still plenty for the kids to do here. Wifi was great. Bathrooms and showers were spotless. I would highly recommend a stay!

After having two not so good KOA experiences, we had swayed away from staying at them this past year. Wow- The Mitchell KOA Journey is what we all expect when we stay with KOA. The owners were very friendly, the grounds were clean, the picnic tables were NOT broken (which we have had issues with in the past), the bathrooms were clean, best campground showers ever, the playground was safe and well maintained, and all in all - a 10/10! The other KOA campground owners could learn a lot from this couple that runs this campground. They understand the value of a customer. We will be back to the KOA in Mitchell!

Breath of fresh air on an otherwise rough trip. The staff was fun and understanding. I look forward to coming back and hopefully finding the same people there. I nearly stayed several nights but decided to keep pushing down the road after the first night. Very clean bathrooms and really nice showers. I had be placed right at the end of the line on a pull through site. I had lots of room (not that I needed it). My site was fairly flat and had some decent shade

Wonderful place with lots of huge shade trees. Super clean, modern bathrooms with free showers. Staff is great and accommodating. Only two suggestions would be to have “one way” signs posted right at the office towards where you’d like them to stay on a one way bc it is patrolled heavy and if there was a sign near the bathrooms/showers that guided people that way it would help with confusion I think. Also, I’d suggest taking the information off your brochure about pool hours and usage (it’s in two places on it). We weren’t told there was no pool and we’re looking for it the first day. Otherwise we loved staying here! Totally recommend it!Nearby activities: Close to town (3 miles)Walkability: Lots of trails they mow for walking the dogFood & drinks: Cute store that has ice cream and a little of almost everything

We had a absolutely wonderful stay at the Mitchell KOA. We stayed in one of the cabin’s and we were very impressed with the cleanliness of the cabins and the friendliness of the staff, very easy in and out location. I noticed some of the reviews saying something about bugs?? The only thing I noticed was some bugs flying around under a few little lights. Well of course, what do you expect? You are camping after all. If you want no bugs and a message every night go to the Hilton Inn in a big city and pay $300-400 a night. Very positive experience.

Updated and great pull-through sites and our young boys loved the mini golf, playground, and patio games! They have a plentiful store, and take great care of guests. We needed a mobile mechanic and they recommended a great one. Did not use laundry, but bathrooms were great!

Good shady spots with beautiful towering maples. We were treated like VIP and guided to our RV site. The campground is well-kept and maintained, and extra quiet. Their store is one of the nicer, well-stocked ones we've seen.

First time to this campground. Clean and nice. The only thing I was disappointed in was they had taken out the pool and that wasn't up dated on the website. The manager stopped by our camp site to visit. He explained about the pool. I felt very safe at this campground. Bathroom/ Shower room was clean. We had a very nice site. I would stay again if in the area. On our vacation to South Dakota we stayed at 4 different campground 3 of them were KOA and this was the best one.

Fantastic place! We are not big KOA campers so rolled in just for an overnight stay. I had accidentally booked my reservation a day later than we arrived and Mark & team were awesome with making accommodations for us. Great hosts, friendly neighbors, shaded & super clean!!

Excellent stop. Easy access, check-in and helpful and friendly staff. Also, under new management, who are spritzing up the grounds and facilities. The restroom was meticulous. Plenty of shade for those hot South Dakota summer days.

This KOA gets an A+ from us! It was very clean and quiet with the best restrooms we have experienced this far. It also had a very large play area for the kids. Their store carried a good variety of local wines and IPA beer for the adults. Firewood was available for $8 a pack and it was just enough for an evening fire. The owners were very helpful and friendly. - we tent camped so I cannot attest to hook ups etc.

We had a great experience at the Mitchell KOA during a recent stay. Experienced RV problems and were put on a shaded site until technician they suggested could work on unit. They made every effort to be helpful. Camp store had great selection too!
