They finally add more self checkouts! It's a good thing about it. I just have a recommendation that would be better if people with less than 20 items use the self checkout and people with more than 20 items can use the cashier (Commissary in Osan Base, Korea did put the sign for this and it seems better and faster). The place here is pretty clean inside outside and has a large parking lot.

Not stocked on many items but better prices than other grocery stores. Usually pretty friendly cashiers but today we used self checkout & accidentally hit a wrong quantity. When I turned to talk to the person at the register she was talking to another associate, so I waited but then acted like it was an inconvenience for me to ask for her help. She hit some buttons then continued to talk about drama. If I wanted that treatment, I'd go to "other store you do on your own w/very little help"

Clean environment with well stocked items on the shelves and in the freezers. People are friendly and kind. Parking is plentiful! Hours of operation are convenient... they are even opened on Mondays!

Purchased some sushi, turned out to taste sour and was slimy and lightly brown in one spot. Shame on me for not noticing. They did give back money which is why I gave it 3 stars. But check your sushi, don’t automatically assume it’s good.

Decent grocery store. Prices are about average compared to local places. Product lineup changes frequently so getting anything consistently can be a challenge sometimes. Recently they have been placing more and more products throughout the store, making aisles and other places harder to navigate, but increasing their offerings.The produce section is small and fairly underwhelming, offering the basics but nothing exotic or fun.Deli is good, the made to order sandwiches are pretty decent, with a variety of subs and paninis available. You can customize the sandwiches, with about 8-10 different veggies, and a wide selection of meats and cheeses. They also have many meats and cheese available in the regular side of the deli to be cut as you wish. They also have a selection of salads (potato, seafood, etc) in the deli.This is only a medium sized grocery store, so expect only 1-2 brands for each kind of product. My biggest gripe is with the checkout area, they only have 2 self checkout machines, so it can get clogged there, and usually only 1-2 regular checkouts open, so lines can get long, especially at lunch.Also as someone who bikes to the commissary a lot, I have noticed they move the bike rack A LOT, so having to hunt for it each time is annoying.Overall most of my experiences with this commissary have been decent, but if you live off base there are better places to shop, even in Sumter.

The food in stock is always good quality and reasonably priced. It's fairly obvious what sells out the most on a regular basis, and they seem to have trouble gauging those items and buying more of them, rather than other food stuffs - especially canned and drinks - that never sell.Only other constructive criticism is some of the items are in odd or unexpected locations - or often just not in the main location. Example is the various dairy drinks and creamers in a separate fridge from all the rest of the milk/dairy/almond/etc. I found 8 cartons of one drink that had expiration dates of 16 NOV 23 (note that today is 21 NOV 23.) When I mentioned it, they were very nice and removed them, and commented it's probably because no one ever looks there for the drinks. Maybe try rotating them some, and might clear some old(er) stock.

Good selection of products, especially international items impossible to find at other grocery stores. Well stocked produce section and we particularly like the meat section. You can ring a bell and a butcher will come out to answer your questions. Try to get that level of service at a Big Box store! Commissary privileges continue to be our most utilized benefit following a 20 year career.

Commissary is small but typically well stocked. Meat section & butchers are excellent - happy to help you out & will cut to order of needed. Deli counter is also great, I especially like the made to order sandwiches at lunchtime. Expect self checkout to be busy during lunchtime hours. They do have a "in uniform only" line at lunchtime.

They got just about what I need. The aisles may be tight. The times and customers may make it an experience to dread grocery shopping but the items and selections aren't that bad. I just wish fresh produce had a teeny bit more on the extra side of foods. Can't make salsa without tamatillos

Love getting good quality sushi here. Small kiosk but always well stocked and FRESH!Has a small deli, that also offersg made to order sandwiches.Has fresh baked goods, not sure what the bakery offers for ordering ahead, or if they havepre-made cakes.Has produce, meat, dairy sections. No meat or seafood counter. All other typical grocery sections.Has a /4 register self checkout area, with attendant who regularly keeps line moving by helping checkout customers at his register....especially those in uniform. Multiple regular checkout registers, 1 or 2 fast lanes for small number of items.Always plenty of baggers to help you to the car. Don't forget to ask for cash back before finishing your sale, so you can tip your bagger.Bathrooms are located inside on the left of entrance.Regularly has lot sales sitting on pallets in front of commissaryNo covered parking but ample parking.

I was totally embarrassed by a female cashier today at the Shaw AFB commissary. I was putting my food on the counter and she asked my wife is that your Dad. I thought the question was totally inappropriate and disrespectful to my wife and myself. I did not over react about this situation, I still have good order and discipline, R.U.L.E.S. of Working in Customer Service”: Remember to Listen, Use Good Tools, Leadership Leads, Engage Your customer, and Swift Service shut your mouth. Save your personal question for your friends.

They work hard keeping the shelfs stocked. Be prepared for a wait at the checkout. Last few times I've been there there has only been 1 or 2 checkout lines open. It's OK for small orders with self check.

Okay commissary, it has a decent selection and is clean. Main issue is that a lot of foods are either out of stock or repetitions of similar foods(lack of variety)

Store is clean and organized. It may not be as cheap as Walmart, but still able to get what you need at a great value. Plus, they have their own deli and made-to-order sushi. Cashiers are nice and attentive.

Great selection of fruits and vegetables plus great array of meats, Can we say BBQ! One of best benefits for retired veterans to use. The Deli section a great selection of meats and cheeses. They carry Boars Head. For lunch you can get Sushi or a freshly made sandwich. Great baked goods also.

Shelves are too empty lately. I think Shaw needs to upgrade the commissary to a larger one so they can serve all of us without running out of staples so often. But I’m very thankful for it regardless

Good prices, commissary standard. This one is well stocked, on the small side, but no issues finding what we are looking for. Friendly folks. We have had good luck with the curbside pickup. You fill out the order, drive to a designated spot, and place a call for it to be delivered to the car.

Decent. Compared to other military bases it's very small, but true usually pretty well stocked. Prices can be a little high compared to other grocers. If you've got the time it's usually cheaper and easier to use Walmart curb-side pickup

Clean. Had a great staff that was very pleasant and helpful. Prices were not as good as in the past thanks to our wonderful Congress trying to make commissaries self sustaining. After paying the surcharges u still add more to your bill. This fee adds more than one would pay in SC sales tax since most grocery products have no state tax. Still worth the trip as they have items not always found in my local stores.
