This is the worst grocery store!!! Extremely long lines with so much confusion on where people need to go… it’s such a disaster.Dirty, confused people, no employees to check out, no express lane, rotting produce on shelves… need I say more. It’s the only thing close to anyone here on JI. Not sure why they can’t amp it up and remodel or do something to get with the amount of traffic and crowds!!!!! Do something FOOD LION. This place is the PITS!

This, like most Food Lion's, is in fact a large store with groceries. This one happens to be dirtier than most and have no self checkout lines at all so you have to wait in line for everything but it's got cookies and stuff which is pretty great.

I don't know whether or not I can give 3and a half stars but I was hesitant to give the Food Lion 4 stars. I'd give the people 5 stars and the grocery 3 if I could. The people are very friendly and helpful unlike most groceries where you can never find help when you need it. The folks here are pleasant. The grocery prices are more reasonable than most others. However, the variety of selection is somewhat limited. There are things you just cannot get here. You'd have to travel over to James Island or West Ashley. It is, however, Johns Island. I don't think there is a high demand for things like figs or decorating sugar here so I can understand that the Food Lion might not keep these things in stock. The facility is fairly clean. I haven't seen many molded vegetables yet. And the traffic isn't bad in and out of the parking lot.

On a road trip, stopped at a pizza joint, and I noticed the Food Lion next door. We needed a few items for our hotel so I told hubby and kids to wait on our pizza and I'd be right back. I wasn't certain of the store layout, as Jax FL, no longer has Food Lion stores. I mention this because I had the clerk assist me with locating the items I needed and he was happy to help. I waited longer in the check-out line than it took me to shop. I no longer had a card but it was fine, the cashier was happy to swipe hers for me so I could get the best price. It was a good stop. The employees were kind and helpful, The store was clean and well-stocked. I got out just as our pizza was ready.

I had the best shopping experience the other day. All the staff is always very helpful but I absolutely adored Jeff and Casey. They were so nice. I really enjoyed our conversations. We used to shop off the island but lately have been using Food Lion because of the convenience. We love that we can do the pick up option (so much easier with a kiddo). Great job to every one there!

I shop here all the time for the last 25 years the deli manager had been there for as long as I can remember and he knows all the regular customers by name and greets everyone as the past by the deli giving you a feeling of family and the price are good

40 people in line for 2 registers and one closes so the person can go get some carts. Makes sense, right? It’s just what all of us standing in line to spend money want to see. It happens way to often and I suspect it’s a management issue. Other stores in the area don’t have these problems so consistently.Why does this place not have any self checkout?Driving to James Island for my groceries from now on. Despite adding 20 min of round trip drive time it’ll still be quicker.

Very bright and welcoming once inside the store. Prices and food choices are great. Local produce weekly. New fridges and freezers make finding food quick and easy.Very clear street Lanes in front of store and large loading zone increases safety of walking customers. Friendly, upbeat staff. Always stocked with surface wipes and antibacterial soap for carts and customer use.

I feel like most grocery stores are the same but Jeff makes this one so much better than the rest! He is funny and just seems to enjoy his work regardless of what he’s doing!I also am always asked if I need help while there and can usually always find what I need

I have always been told to start any critique with the positives. With that in mind, the employees at this location are typically very friendly and helpful. The prices here are comparable to other groceries in the area, if not slightly lower than the nearest Harris Teeter. Although in all honestly, if given the chance, I would prefer either of the other stores. It just so happens that I am lazy, and hate to drive the extra several miles.Now for the issues that I see with this location. The selection is hit or miss. One of the reasons I don't like coming here is because I know for certain that I will have to go somewhere else to get the items on my list that are missing. For example, on more than one occasion when needing cream the entire cooler was empty. No half & half, not whipping, nothing.Another thing is the meat department. Make sure to bring hand sanitizer when picking your cuts, especially chicken. The packs are always covered in condensation, at best, or some other "fluid" . And speaking of chicken, if you buy it today you better use it today. Those use by dates don't seem to mean anything.Finally, they have program where if you bring in your own bags they knock off 5 cents. It's a nice little incentive. Problem is many of the baggers will not use your bags. I have had 3 different cashiers toss them aside, then put my items next to the bag. Once they are done they hand me the receipt and move on to the next guest leaving me to fill my own bag without saying a word. I can fill my own bags, but if this is a policy of some sort let me know so I don't stand there looking confused while you fill paper bags with the next guests items.In summary, I think I will stop being lazy and drive the extra miles to Publix. I'll probably have to anyway

Everything here is very reasonable compared to Publix and Harris teeter even with current inflation. Most things are usually in stock, considering our situation with supply shortages, some items will be out of stock but they do their best to keep things available for us.

WOW I have been so impressed with this FL. It's seemed to have really turned around. The produce section is still small but they are always stocked and the produce looks great. We are very happy with all the organic selections of most every food. There is a lot more variety of different foods and they also carry some items that we have a hard time finding at other groceries.I would like to see more organic meat options. I have seen some changes in the wine selection but would still like to see some better options. It wouldn't be my first place to go for wine.The staff is usually very friendly and the store itself is clean.

Good prices and good store layout.Edit: on second visit, I stopped in later in the evening and multiple members of the staff did not have masks on. As much as I enjoy their prices and selection, I can not look past negligence during a pandemic. Score has the potential to drop further if I see the same problem in the future.

I have been going to this Foodlion for 15 years and I love the team here!! Miss a lot of the old faces but the customer service and friendliness is unmatched!!This has nothing to do with this particular FL but I wish that the meat department still cut all of its meats and ground it’s meats.Love the wing bar and attention to detail that the staff has!!! Love this Johns Island treasure!!

I use the food lion to go service through the Johns island SC store frequently, mainly to help me stay in budget, I can be an impulsive shopper. If I'm in a hurry a lot of times I can place my order and pick up on the same day. The shoppers are great! They're attentive and friendly. I love that when items or brands are out of stock they're able to text me for alternatives. I can also make changes during this time. I find the whole process sooo easy and stress free. This food lion was really on the up-swing after it was remodeled. The customer service improved and the selection was much better. However, I’m afraid that it’s slipping back into the way that it used to be..... The staff is super rude, the store is frequently way under stocked, and they only have two lines open on the weekend (and one is 12 or less only).I would honestly avoid this store if you have a better option, it’s gotten really frustrating to shop.

I order my Food Lion to go order here every week but lately have had issues getting produce and other items due to supply, which I understand due to the pandemic. However, today I went to pick up my order and got all the way home and saw they had given me the wrong grocery bags. I then had to go back to retrieve the correct ones and they didn’t apologize or acknowledge the inconvenience. Moving forward, I will place my order with another location.
