Stopped in on our way to Florida from ny to get a quick bite before getting back on the road. First off deceiving atmosphere from outside didn't expect lunchroom cafeteria, also staff not very acomidating . How does a restaurant not have a restroom? Or even a place to wash hands before eating or to get stuff off hands. I even went as far as to have to beg. Yes BEG the girl behind the counter if she could atleast wet a paper towel. She claimed they didn't have any. How does a restaurant not have bounty or paper towels in the back even for themselves. Either way I took a napkin and still had to keep begging to please atleast wet it for me. She made me wait until she took care of everyone on the line as if I wasn't a paying customer. Long story short we got back on the road after eating only to have to pull of to throw up a few exists in. Tastes good going down but got sick after eating it so beware.

The newest dining experience at South Of The Border! This place feels a whole lot more authentic too, as they sell Mexican street food here now, as opposed to when it was Hot Tamale, and they were mostly about cheeseburgers and hotdogs and whatnot.Attached is a picture of the titular item, the Burrito Loco. You can't not order that at least once in your life!This building is also a great way to escape the heat, as it is super air conditioned!

This is absolutely disgusting food. The cheese sauce that came on the nachos is the same yellow science experiment that you get on chips at a ballgame and it was cold! I ordered the steak burrito, and honestly the rice in it was cold and bland, in fact the whole burrito was cold and no sour cream on it. No way would I ever eat here again. I waited 25 minutes for this disgusting pile of cold dog food. No bathrooms either so my kid is currently throwing up his lunch in their bushes. Run, don't walk, from this place!

“Burrito Loco” restaurant ( formerly “Hot Tamale”) at the well-known landmark ‘South of the Border’ theme park complex. Food served fast, but… served lukewarm to cold for both of us. Huge servings, but… chicken was overly salty, had too much black pepper, and appeared to have been re-heated more than once. Tortilla chips were somewhat stale in my Chicken Nachos dish. Our meals were served in a “to-go” styrofoam container even though we chose “dining in” from choices offered by cashier. Tasty and refreshing watermelon drink and pleasant cashier. Nope, we won’t be back.

Passing by to visit family, stopped at burrito loco. The food portions will certainly fill you up, and can even feed 2 persons.The flavor profile was neutral; the condiments are what makes the food shine, so go for it!The atmosphere is made for those on the way; nothing fancy, but nice enough to sit, eat and enjoy the moment.

Food is really good and so reasonable. The beef tamales are wonderful. Food is not spicy but has a good flavor and you can hot sauce for that extra kick.Parking: Lots of parking throughout all of Pedro's complex

It was surprisingly tasty. The salsa bar had two kinds of salsa verde, one was tomatillo and one avocado based. I love salsa verde so that won me over. There were cucumbers, radishes, onions and cilantro at the salsa bar as well, although sliced too thick, especially the radishes. Refried beans were tasty. It was a lot of food for $11. Outside restroom was decent.

Right off of I-95 and just South of the border from North Carolina. Pedro's Hot Tamale has fast food available 24 hours a day. There are accommodations, fuel, souvenirs and other attractions within walking distance. This is just one of the may things at this location.

The chili cheese nachos were off the hook. The prices are cheap. There’s a wait for food, but they do move quick. The hotdog was like a home off the grill, kinda hotdog. The fries... not good at all. My kid will eat any fries & she tossed all of hers out. The chicken was typical fast food chicken. The staff was incredibly friendly.

I wanted a cup of ice and the Spanish lady literally looked at me and continued her conversation for 5 minutes. The only person acknowledged I was there was the guys moping the floors. I understand if it was someone ordering, but this was a personal conversation she was having not knowing even though I’m African decent I understand Spanish very well. The service doesn’t deserve 1 star at all. I will be going to heavenly wings instead where service is awesome. Very great people who owns heavenly wings at south of the border . Food is awesome and the atmosphere

I found the Time Machine and went back to 1985 at Pedro's Hot Tamales. Cannot say I would Vote For Pedro, but it is worth the stop off I95 for the experience. You will of course pay more being that it's about the tourism. The food and service earn a thumbs even..Worth doing once in your travels.

Disappointing experience as only 2 people were handling the kitchen... one cool and the other taking the orders and a BIG line of queue... when our turn came the lady said I would take 30-45 minutes as there are 6 orders before us... therefore we leftI have put the picture of the menu so I hope it helps you decide to stop by or not. Do try the Tamale as I have heard is good.

I don’t even know where to begin…this has got to be the worst mexican food I have ever eaten in history! Upon our arrival the place looked closed. As we went up to the front counter to order food, the lady made it clear that they didn’t have a bathroom? Why is there only a bathroom outside? As I’m reading a sign that says, “no baño” that is clearly placed on the door of a freaking bathroom! My husband and I placed a “to go” order…however as I was scanning the place, it looked extremely sketchy, from the empty trays in the back, to almost no staff and one lonely old man probably named Pedro sitting like a Mexican prop at the table eating…I had pulled pork and beef street tacos…beans and cheese, and yellow rice…the rice tasted sour on with the first scoop I tried so I moved onto the beans…something I couldn’t place about them but they were definitely off! After the first bite of the beef street taco I threw all of the food in the basura, where it belonged! The tortilla tasted soggy and the meat…I just have no words for it…the food was overly heated as if it sat out for days and then was just thrown in a microwave and served in styrofoam. nachos were old and my three year old took a bite and said “Ewwwww disgusting” my husband had the burrito and he even threw his food away and he eats anything! The only reason why I didn’t have that place shut down is bc we were traveling and it was a pit stop! The rest of the evening our stomachs were sour from just a few bites of the meal and we “tooted”all night. Please do not eat here! Es muy peligroso!

Do not waste your money here. 11.98$ for burito deluxe. No taste no good beef and old beans. It does not worth 1$ this dish. Look at the amount of salad they served. Trash food and trash place.

Talk about quirky; this place is like a blast to a zone where the 80s stood still. Faded paint all around, with weird statues every direction you look. But at the end of the day, they make one really tasty taco! This place screams tourist trap - but it's NOT - it's, it's own slice of amazing Americana that needs to be experienced! They have it all: toys, fireworks, gas, clothes, food, and even a reptile zoo. If you're passing by, stop look and stare because it's truly a sight to behold!

We always stop here when traveling up and down I95. Thus is the definition of greasy spoon, and I mean that in a good way. The burger buns were a little mushed and the fries overdone, but it was still edible enough for a road trip pit stop.

Fast food joint in the south of the border tourist attraction. Open 24 hrs with sandwiches and breakfast items. Food is so so. Dont go in with gourmet expectations.Edit: I take it back. That crunchy taco was probably the best fast food taco I ever had. Soft taco was so so and wife ate the tamale before I had a bite. She said it was good.

Food was pretty good and served quickly. Cashier was friendly but had to remind her to give us our drinks and they forgot the chips and salsa that was supposed to come with the combo. Restaurant has very dated fast food/cafeteria feel to it. And there is no restroom to clean up after eating messy Mexican food; you have to go to a completely separate building for those.
