This is a really nice bookstore...lots of great new books, used books and local items. However, every single time I purchase something here I am overcharged. They don't scan barcodes, but rather type in the price and it's been incorrect every time. The first time I got a refund because I was overcharged by $19. This time it was $3 so I didn't bother, but just beware that this is a consistent practice of this store. I don't want to think it's intentional but since it's happened multiple times, I have to think it is.

Great wee bookstore this. Very decent selection of new and used books - especially from local authors (of which we picked up a couple of titles). Don't forget to say hi to Sarah Margaret while you're there.

This small bookstore is lovely. I enjoyed looking at the used books and the postcards and folded cards. There is a nice selection of regional authors as well as national bestsellers. Also available at this shop are cute magnets.The man that works there is very affable. I didn't catch his name but he was funny and kind. A great sense of humor.The Edisto postcards ip front are just 38 cents each. Not a bad deal!Unfortunately, I had to remove a star do to the cold, indifferent attitude of the owner. She acted like I was taking time away from her book when I wanted to buy my items. Also, when my mother bought one postcard with a ten dollar bill, the owner was clearly unhappy. We thanked her as well left and received not even one word in return.

What a beautiful store. So many books on the history of the island, and the people as well. It's really cool. There is a lot of hand made things as well, like cards, and decor. I recommend visiting this store if you are ever in the area.

A staple of our Esiato trips for decades, this bookstore always gets a few minutes of our time on every trip. It's quiet and has been around for years. The perfect place to pick out a book for the week to read on the beach. Our kids live this place, a large selection for them as well.

Updating after a second visit. I want to support a small local bookstore, but both times I felt unwelcome and uncomfortable shopping in this store. The first time I felt the woman working there was unfriendly, but this time she was really rather rude. I don't mind paying list price for books, but the used books are overpriced, as well. Both times we spent about $30 on books, but I won't be back.

I enjoy browsing in the island bookstore (exceptional book selection). Three or four years ago the front desk had the nicest gentleman greeting you. What a pleasure to chat with. On my next visits to the bookstore (October 2022 and April 2023) the woman at the checkout was very unpleasant. Such a shame the bookstore has someone working there like this.

A nice oasis where you can find new and used books for that perfect summer read. They are gracious with allowing folks to tag onto their WiFi. Which is helpful when camping at the State park.

This is a gem of a bookstore! Karen always has the best selection. Fiction, local authors and subjects, nonfiction, fun children’s books, used books- something for everyone. My wife is a retired librarian and we highly recommend stopping for a real treat. Her store is our first stop when we arrive each year from Minnesota!

5 stars for selection, 0 stars for service. In a store this small it's actually awkward to not be greeted when you walk in, right past the owner. We know this because she had a lentgthy conversation about being the owner. It promptly went from being ignored to being glared at the entire time we shopped, and I know that glare. It's the "you're not local" glare. Then it took longer to check out than we spent looking at books despite only having 2 other customers. Well excuse me for wanting to patronize a local business. Sorry we wanted to give you money. Good luck.

Local owned book store. Great place to stop. It has:- New and Used books- Children’s section- Edisto, Charleston paper maps $30 and framed maps $300+- Mystery, History, Non-fiction sections- A cool cat “Sarah Margaret” that hangs out in the store

Very quaint and nice bookstore. My daughter found all kinds of used teen books that looked like new, at good prices! There was also the most soft sweet kitty cat in the store that loved to be petted. Would recommend!

Cute, but full of used and new books of all subjects. Store employee/owner is amazing. We had an in-depth conversation about mushrooms and he ended up finding a book in his personal collection to give to me! Such a great guy, which makes the whole atmosphere of the location positive all-around. Love this place and the prices are comparable too!

Love this bookstore more than any other. It has such great reads. Great cooking and fiction books. The kids art of the bookstore cat are every where behind the counter. So many great books about nature that you can buy to better ID all the things around you here on the island. Cards, coloring books and art puzzels. Used books too.

There's a cat which is really cool. But there are no prices anywhere and there's several sections that are really messy. Like I expect that from Goodwill but not a bookstore. And the lady working there was not friendly at all. I did find a super cute pottery mug. And the card selection is very nice.

Treasure of a small local bookstore with new and used titles, lots of local Edisto books, and beach reads. Good selection of puzzles, too, for vacation fun. The cat passed away last year, that was the only downside. Store looks tiny when you first enter, but winds through many rooms. A book lover's haven.
