Great staff!! One of the best small businesses in Charleston. I know they groom a lot of dogs but it means a lot that they know Banshee’s name and greet her before I say a thing. They always seem genuinely excited to see her, which means a lot to me. Just make sure you book the next hair cut before you leave, they book up quickly.

This is the best groomer I've found in Charleston. My doodle received some questionable grooms before I finally found this place. Chad is very accomodating to his customers and treats the puppers like they're his own. Mandy does an amazing job with our girl and is the most pleasant person to deal with. I've also stopped in for a quick nail trim between grind and never waited more than 10 minutes. We haven't used the wash bays but they are always clean, sanitized, and ready for their next pupper. And their treats/ collars/ leashes are of the highest quality. I cannot recommend this place more.

Absolutely fantastic location to bring your dog for a self service Dog Wash. I am traveling here on vacation from the state of Maine where we have a very similar place in Maine like island, dog pet wash and market and this place is amazing and the staff is very helpful. Knowledgeable and very great with the dogs and owners would highly highly recommend it and by the way Miss Ella Loves it.

Border Collie approved! We do the self wash and it's a back saver for sure. Way better than the bathtub at home. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They also offer grooming services and have a market that carries food, toys, and accessories.

I am so glad that we found this place they are absolutely amazing! Whether you are washing your dog yourself at one of their grooming stations or leaving your dog there for a professional groom both are great experiences for both owner and your pup! At the DIY grooming stations it is a lifted tub so you're not bending over (which is great for your back!) they have aprons you can wear so you don't get wet when your doggy shakes, they have every kind of shampoo available from flea and tick to conditioning to deodorizing, there's also tooth and ear wipes available at each station. The water that comes out you can control the pressure and nice warm water comes out so it is comfortable for your pet. They give you as many towels as you need to dry your doggy off after their bath. There is also a hose dryer at each station which is especially nice for those long haired dogs that are hard to dry just by hand. Of course this is optional. One aspect that is great about this place is that after you are done bathing your dog you don't have to worry about the cleanup afterwards. Now, of course we try to get up as much hair as we can but the staff is very sweet and they always tell us that they will handle it from there.The owner and the staff are remarkably sweet and helpful and very knowledgeable about all of the products in the store. They are more than accommodating if you are having trouble washing your dog they will come over and help any way they can. We have been going there for about 2 years now and we have never had a bad experience! The prices are reasonable and everyday they have a special. Just check out their website to see what specials they have going on for each day of the week. But at the end of the day we choose to come to this place because we always leave with a smile and clean pups and what could be better than that?

My doggie has a regular grooming appt elsewhere but needed a quick clean be4 Vet. Appt .. this place is great , anything you would need is available right in front of the stall you are bathing your dog in. Quick , Friendly Helpful Staff and Affordable … also items available to purchase as well .

In the past, we've had some difficulty in finding the right dog grooming business and somehow this one got past us...but I was able to get our dog there for a "you-do"..this place was very busy, spotless, well-run and friendly. They have great supplies available. I left with a gift certificate for the next time and will make an appointment. Chad, the owner, is friendly and helpful. Glad we found out about this business!

Taking my dog here makes me so happy. The team is so easy to communicate with on my dogs needs (oat based bath wash) and bath scheduling. I am always treated to kindly. They make the experience so seamless. I can’t imagine taking my dog anywhere else!

I only put one star so that I can leave a review. Worst place ever! Do not get your doodle cut here they have no idea what they’re doing and they don’t listen to you! This is what they did to my poor golden doodle after I specifically told them do not touch her head or face. I wanted to cry! Her head was NOT matted!! And hadn’t been cut for months because it took me 2 months to get an appointment! Now they are liars and obviously know nothing about doodles! the owners comment… wow

I came across them based on their good ratings online and am so glad I tried them out. I have since referred other individuals to the business - the employees are very well knowledgeable and take such delicate care for your companions. Chad is the absolute best with my boy “mean Gene”! He really works with the dogs even the problem children like mine who hate their paws being touched. I brought Gene to another groomer closer to my home and they didn’t even try and recommended veterinary sedation.I really appreciate that they try to soothe the dogs and he’s worked with Gene so much to build trust. I’ll be driving an extra 40 minutes to see Island Dog for my grooming needs in the future.

We cannot recommend Island Dog enough! They were so sweet, gentle and patient with our girl who has A LOT of hair. Kya looks and feels amazing. They took their time and got the majority of the loose undercoat out. Chad and the sweet girl who gave Kya her blowout were both amazing. Highly recommend.

The best pet shop and groomer in Charleston. The owner does a great job at keeping a great inventory of superior quality foods and treats. The wash stations are very user friendly for my senior dog and Chad always offers a hand or suggestion to improve my dogs safety and health. Ask him for “the stuff” after a wash!

I love this place! My dog Folly does calisthenics while getting his nails trimmed. But they are patient and kind with him! He is getting a little better because he has learned to trust them! $15 for a nail trim or bath with all the grooming supplies...what a deal! The entire staff is so friendly and always a short wait when I come in with him!

Edit: 2024: after several years coming here I had to stop coming in. The price keeps going up and up, $5 one time $10 the next.. the price change is never talked about or posted.. last time it was $75 for a 9 lb poodle mix. When Island Dog first opened it was $55 for this same dog, same grooming service. I take him in every 8-10 weeks. I can't afford Island Dog anymore.. You should come here but ask the price up front... They are very nice staff treat humans and dogs well. Always a good grooming service no cuts knicks or scratches yet. If I see an issue they correct it right away. Been going here over 2 years? Since it opened, it has gotten busy and prices have gone up, but all grooming services are expensive! I suggest booking the appointment 3 weeks in advance. I never used the self service doggy station but they clean them after each pet use and the entire salon is clean / well maintained. Good Parking.

Lulu, getting her nails trimmed for the first time. I think Anastasia the groomer and staff knew how to expertly handle a dog because the whole time we were there Lulu acted like a well behaved dog. She's only eight months old. I would tell anyone to go here because Lulu is a wild child and our first grooming experience with her was stress free

Took my pup to Island dog wash last week and this is hands down the best. Customer service was excellent, clean facility, and the spa treatment for AC Slater was A+.I usually Drop off my pup and come back but Island Dog wash is a place I like hanging out at because of the friendly staff and can get some shopping done for the pup all while waiting. It's like a Disney land for pet and owner. High quality food, snacks, and toys. Thank you again Chad!

I’ve been going to Island Dog for a year now and I wouldn’t take my pup anywhere else! My yorkie is always groomed exactly how I like and they are very quick at getting her in and out.. which is helpful for her anxiety. I also think they are the most reasonably priced in CHS! Highly recommend!

Bishop isn’t big on water but the Island Dog Wash was set up where I could wash him myself. They had everything you needed right there. It took no more 15 minutes. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I highly recommend them!

We have been taking our 2 dogs Sophie and Lily here for the full service grooming ever since they first opened their doors. The store has always been immaculately clean from tubs to floor. They have an excellent healthy selection of dog food, treats, and toys. The owner, Chad, is always personable and friendly. It’s also cool that he is a local College of Charleston grad like myself. Go Cougars! Sophie has become blind since our first visit so it’s nice to be able to take her to a place and people she knows. Lily has always been touchy about having her nails trimmed, but the staff here must be dog whisperers because they always get the job done. Wish I had a photo of how good they look after their spa day. Hopefully I can add one when we go back for our standing appointment in a couple weeks. Thanks Chad and staff for taking such good care of our fur babies. Love Island Dog!!!!

I absolutely love this place for their self-service dog washes. They are always clean and always fully stocked with shampoos, wipes, brushes, towels, and a blow dryer. The store has a wide selection of healthy treats so I always get my dog a little something after her bath so she has a great experience. They also offer a discount on toe nail trims if you're using the tubs. Everything is just so convenient! I love having a place like this locally. Thank you!

By far the best self service dog wash I’ve been to. Brought in my fluffy Australian Shepard who’s used to these and an eight month pup who would be getting her first self service wash. The place was really clean and the tubs were great. Water was warm for the pups with great pressure and they even had a variety of shampoos to chose from. They had an awesome air dryer with fantastic pressure which was perfect to get my aussie’s undercoat blown out. We even got to spritz the pups with a cologne. There was no rush/time limit which I sometimes worry about since the fluffy boy takes some time. We opted to get an add on nail trim for the puppy and the worker was fantastic with her. You could tell the staff was very knowledgeable and the pups nails were cut and filed down as short as they could without any pain. Icing on the cake is how affordable it is. If I lived in SC this would be my go to spot for sure.

Island Dog is by far my favorite self-service dog wash in Charleston.I’ve used multiple different companies over the years for my German Shepherd, and my family’s Aussie and Pitt mix. The tubs are in a well ventilated area so you don’t get hot and muggy while bathing your dogs like some other pet washes with enclosed tub areas. The tubs are the perfect height so that you don’t have to bend over, and the sides open so you don’t have to lift your dog down into it like other places with porcelain standard tubs (which is nearly impossible with any of the 50+ lb dogs I normally bathe who never want baths). The bottoms of the tubs are even, and didn’t cause my dog to slip. They’re well secured, so I didn’t have any problem with my Shepherd jumping out. They provide all the supplies AND clean up after you when you are finished. The staff was super helpful when I needed help with cleaning ears, drying with the dryers, and I got a nail trim as well and they didn’t quick my flinch-y girl! Their dryers are heavy duty enough that they quickly dried my very furry German Shepherd, and you can do it while they’re still in the tubs so it’s easier to keep them contained! They also have treats and other things in the store that are very reasonably priced, and a convenient way to get back in my dog’s good graces after her bath. I feel good knowing the products are natural and healthy for my dog! Her favorites are the pig snouts and the duck heads! We definitely will go here for our pet needs from now on!
