Staff are very kind and helpful in adopting the right pet for you. Shelter is neat and all animals are taken care of very well! I recommend that you check out Exeter Animal Shelter first if you are looking to adopt a fur baby!

Honestly not worth coming. I visited this place a few times and I left my number because I wanted to adopt a cat or dog. They never ended up calling back. So I came in once again soon after and they denied me for everything. It was great, I was so friendly and just really wanted to adopt a pet but I mean whatever. They weren’t nice like at all. It would have been great if they helped me out or at least CALLED BACK but I mean it’s alright. Just know, they could be friendly from what I’ve read although it could be very different from what you assume. They don’t call back. At all.

I visited The Exeter Animal shelter for the first time today. I have visited other shelters throughout RI, and I have to commend the staff and all those who contribute to the shelter. It was a shocking experience (comparatively speaking) to see how well they care for the animals. It was amazingly clean and tidy, too. The staff is very kind and professional. My email inquiry was quickly responded to, and my experience there was just exceptional. As an Exeter resident. I am extremely grateful for your efforts. Thank you!

The old crotchety woman who runs this place seems to think that cats should live in cages. She will not allow you to adopt if you mark anything other than "indoor only". This is not communicated up front, and the volunteers (super chill younger people) don't seem to be aware. She also will insult you, to your face, about your appearance. Really sad that she lives like that, and that the town allows her to deny these pets a better life.

The Exeter Animal Shelter is "home" to a community of people who love animals. The animals are loved the moment they are rescued. Everyone, including volunteers, provide an exceptional environment for the little creatures in their care. They love them all as their own children...these temporarily homeless dogs and cats are cared for by staunch advocates for the voiceless. Potential adopters are carefully selected from applications; the staff notes applicants who will take the time to bond with the animal they wish to take to a furever home. Those animals that find themselves "lost" but rescued probably thank their lucky stars for finding this temporary home. Cleanliness, loving staff and volunteers, a fine enrichment program, a woodland environment, make this shelter a five star hotel for pets.

10 years ago I adopted Sassy, a Maltese mix. The staff was wonderful, and very helpful in the adoption process. Sassy is now 12 years old and doing well. The staff may remember her as "the dancing dog"! I have only the utmost respect for the hard working staff.

I went there to try to a pet thinking I was doing something good but there's a application to fill it takes time I know they are saving animals but I'm sure a lot of people want to help just make it easier for people to help

If you plan on actually adopting a cat this is not the place for you. Shelters say they have trouble finding homes for the cats, but you can write down 5 different cats your willing to adopt here and be a great cat owner, you can visit the cats your wanting to adopt a couple days in a row, and they still wont even give you a call back!

The Exeter Animal Shelter is the perfect example of why humans should never give up on animals. I adopted my cat from the Exeter Animal Shelter and they told me that based on what the vet had said that I might not have her for long. She had been there for a year and with a prognosis like that in any other facility she would not have been given a chance. they told me it was okay if I wanted to back out but I took my chances with her. Her name (given by the volunteers at the shelter) is Fiz. I have had her for four years now. We live in Florida now where Fiz gazes out happily at the palm trees and fills my life with so much happiness. She is the sweetest soul and I'm forever grateful to Exeter Animal Shelter for the work they do and for having been a safe haven for my Fiz until I found her.Forever grateful,Emily and Fiz.

If you want to adopt a cat better make sure to check indoor only. I had application in for two weeks and they could not even bother to call me to let me know I was not approved. So instead of giving a cat a good home they would rather the cat stay in a pens

Attempted to adopt a dog & THEY NEVER called back . My 2nd attempt to call I'm pretty sure I was blocked. This is why shelters will continue to syay filled and people will just choose breeders

Friends of Exeter I’m so grateful for them...I got to adopt a senior cat in November 2019 to give her a loving home to live her life out...Sadly to say my trixie girl passed away on Easter Sunday 🐣😂due to a cancer mass but the time I had her she loved life and I’ll never forget the love that she gave to me and my Daughter❤️ My heart is empty and I miss my furry pillow which she slept near my head at night...6 months is not long enough but the time we had was so worth it...So thank you friends of Exeter for letting me adopt a Angel 😇
