If not for them my bird, Pablo Picasso, would have more than likely passed tonight.I called every single vet and emergency vet in pa and not one was able to take my baby.His nail was cut too short (after being in petco for 3 months and being 6 months of age without any nail trimming, i tried to help him so he wouldn't be in pain from standing) and after hours of getting it to stop bleeding and him picking at it and it reopening, Dean answered their phone. I brought him into Dean and not only did the bleeding stop, he was able to walk on it and pick at it and it didn't start again! He informed me what to do for the night to make sure he brought his body back up to par and to keep him warm from the loss of blood. Literally words can not express how thankful I am for him picking up the phone. Thank you a million times over!!!

Don't go there if you are disabled pretty rude staff. I'm a disabled vet, serious brain injury, have an extremely well trained service dog. I also have a flock of macaws. On a friend's recommendation I made the hour and a half trek to this place. I'm always looking at birds, and we go through toys like candy. When I opened the door s woman at the front yelled back to several folks standing in the back taking with some conures out. Put the birds away singing brought a dog in here. Thanks lady I love being pointed out to the whole store. My dog is on a vest very visible what he is at 130 lbs. Her tone was really nasty as was her look she shot me. I contemplated turning around to leave but instead simply replied he's an extremely well trained service dog who lives with parrots and walked by the birds, and as he is trained, zero attention to the birds. I spent minutes there as it is small and not much to it. Did like the bulk food. Had a bird room but got the vibe those are personal birds... No signs of species, age, price etc. And no one came in to ask if I was looking for anything.... Cold shoulder from the staff. Felt very unwelcome there. Wont make that drive again. Rude staff, particularly regarding a disability.... This bothers me greatly.

I haven't seen a mom and pop bird store like this in a while except in New Jersey so having this place an hour away from Bel Air MD is a real nice surprise. The wall of toys was perfect for my cockatiels, which I dread buying toys for from chain stores cause the selection sucks. This place has the beefy millet they LOVE, dried fruits and veggies to mix in with seed/pellets and great perches for my birbs. I'll be coming back 1000% in the future with more money and maybe even my feathered sons so they can get out and see some new birbs. You have a new customer for life ☺️

Dean is incredibly knowledgeable, and cares a great deal for the Birds, and his customers. We adopted a bird from him 8 years ago, and still drive 45 minutes for him to trim her claws and wings, and buy what she needs.

We love going to rentzels, seeing all the birds & talking with the owners. Dean & Shirley are very knowledgeable & have great advice about all your bird questions. After are yellow nape passed away, we adopted 2 older parrots from here. Birds are a big responsibility & older birds are already set in their ways. They need patience. Buy your bird food here, wide variety & prices are great. They have treats,toys,perches & other accessories. After we found rentzels we don't go anywhere else for our parrot needs. It's worth the drive.

They have a big selection of exotic birds in very good shape and good health that are for sale. I get all my bird food there. They carry Higgins Abba Parrot and much more. I can't find Abba Parrot food anywhere else.

This place is a walking history of avian ownership. The staff has more practice knowledge than Google and You Tube combined. Any subtle question about your bird will be answered with practical information you can bet on. I have been a repeated customer since 2005. I just bought/adopted a baby cockatiel and have been unsure about several things. Both staff have walked me through all of the processes, what to look for and how to make the cockatiel happy. Rentzels is the only place I go for advice and feed. The questions are free, the feed is extremely reasonable.Still the reining experts. Currently though with the avian flu epidemic, some services are limited.

This IS THE PLACE for bird food, toys and etc. Best bird advice, free wing and nail clips, absolute best prices. Local owned, the owners are by far the friendliest people within 50 miles. Worth the drive, worth the visit, your bird will thank you!!

I get all 9 of my birds food, toys, perches, ect there. Quick in and out. What ever you need they have! Even and experience seeing diffrent types of parrots they're sitting, you may not have at home! And of course their Prices keep you coming back! And last but not least Dean will carry your heavy bags out to your car! So nice

Rentzels is the best place to get anything for your birds. Can't beat Deans prices or knowledge sure you can go to That Fish Place That Pet Place or any other store to buy food they have a huge selection but you're going to get the same thing at rentals a lot cheaper they don't sell junk and I have all the time in the world for their customers

What can I say? If you have birds of any kind, this is the place to go. Forget the big chain stores, they are too expensive and the quality and freshness of the food just isn't there. So many options of food to choose to help your picky eaters. And free toenail and wing trimming.

i love coming to rentzels .. birds to talk to .. good advice from dean and shirley (they helped me choose what type of bird to get) ... and i patiently waited for each of my cockatiels to hatch then fledge. plenty of seed and pellet choices ... and toys, toys, toys ... next week my drive to rentzels will be 40 miles .. one way .. i wouldnt go anywhere else.

Nice place! Not too crowded and it's in a nice location. Only thing that bothered me is the many cockatiels in one small area that looked a little scraggly, but I think that was because they were old. Other than that, it was such a nice place with a nice guy working at the time I visited.

The owners are very knowledgeable and have an extensive background with birds. Their selection of foods, treats, toys, and other accessories can't be beat ~ even by stores that are much bigger. They also have hand-raised babies that make great companions.

We bought 2 birds from Dean and his wife. A blue fronted amazon and a yellow naped amazon. They both turned out to be great birds. They are both about twenty years old. If you want a bird stop in and talk with them. Having a bird is a huge undertaking. Most birds live a very long life. So before you buy one ask youself if you are willing to have a pet for 40 years . Or longer in most cases.
