We have adopted several dogs from BCHS over the years. They do good work there and make the adoption process easy. Lots of cats there too. Please adopt.... don't shop. Pic is of our most recent adoption from BCHS.

This place the puppies have coccidia !! Feces are all over in kennels place is disgusting & they are overpriced for a sick puppy that has no shots !! This place SHOULD BE SHUTT DOWN. 5-17-2023.

This place says that they are looking for animals to find their forever homes, but they lie. I have had 3 experiences with this place before and all have been bad. The first time my mom wanted to adopt a new cat after ours had died from sickness. He contracted something from a cat outside (he was an indoor outdoor cat). It had been almost 6 months after he had died and they said that the sickness was still in the house for a year after the cat had died and we were denied. We went home and contacted the vet that treated our little boy before he died and the vet told us that as long as we vacuumed and washed all bowls, and threw away any old toys or catnip mouses that the cat would be fine and to go back the next day and get the cat. He called them and said if we couldn't take the cat home he would make sure the proper authorities would be contacted. Needless to say we got the cat. Which was the 2nd encounter and they practically threw the cat at us and were very pissed we were getting the cat. Last year I tried to adopt one of their kittens and they said that they could not adopt to me because my mom had her cat (same cat as above) and that she would need boosters of every shot she had ever gotten because what if a bat with rabies got in the house and bit the cat. Really?? I was so sick of them I gave up looking there. I found a nice old man who was looking for homes for kittens and found a precious little angel. It just makes me sick that they say about having so many animals that need homes, but then they have a stack of rejection letters 3 inches thick.

I have volunteered with BCHS for many years and even completed my senior project with them. My 2 cats and dog have come from the humane society. They're angels and I could not imagine life without them. I've never dealt with a negative person here and everyone just wants what is best for the animals.

Great place. My fiancé and I adopted our pitbull on Thursday. Friendly staff and not too expensive. They even gave us a bag of treats, collar, leash, and 2 toys.

Great group of people helping unwanted pets find homes. Lots of dogs and cats to rescue. They are always looking for volunteers and donations. Have a heart save a pet. We personally got our beautiful dog Shiolh here.UNCLE GERRY'S PET: Please, don't buy a pet from a store or a puppy mill, rescue one instead.

Saturday I had to help my father and law find his phone so I was a little late returning so I wanted to call and see if they would stay open an extra 5 minutes so I could adopt a kitten. They refused and they left 5 minutes earlier than their closing time..... today I returned at 10:30am (opening time). I asked to adopt a cat, they told us to fill out a paper. ... The landlord didn't get a hold of them till 12:45 and then told them we had permission. ..The people then came up to us after waiting almost 3 hours and told us we were denied.... Why make us go through all that nonsense for HOURS then deny us?..... All I wanted to do was help them by getting a kitty into a new home..... never again will I go to this animal shelter

This is a great place to adopt animals. They staff is amazing and very helpful. They don't have too many animals to choose from but that means an easier process to find your furever pet!

The employees were very rude and impolite. Don't bring any animals to this place bring them to another no kill shelter. They do not talk to you and if they do they are very snippy and rude about anything and everything you say! I emailed the people in regards to an animal that I said I was going to adopt and they sold it before we got there. I wanted to adopt another animal and they said you have to be there 30min early to adopt and then I asked if they would hold the animal til tomorrow so I could adopt it tomorrow and they said NO

Officer Canning will not return any calls. My family and I have called 30 times in one week. We simply wanted to speak about a recent case. This is simply not professional !

Don’t know much besides adopting a lovely fur baby “Sammy” from petco in Horseheads and the lady drove from Bradford to Horseheads to meet us to fill out the rest of the paper work , was appreciated for that!-Thank you

This organization needs to respect the law. Court orders stand, follow them. Please do right by the animals and give them back to owners that will love them and take care of them.

Stopped by and they were closed during hours of operation and they left three dogs outside when it's 96 outside. Only reason they have two stars is because 3 years ago I got my rescue dog there.
