Wow! This place takes pet care very seriously. They won't hand over their animals to just anyone and they require a good amount of documentation before you are able to look at dogs. I really like that because it shows how much they care for each animal. A very good place indeed!

Great staff, super friendly and helpful with adopting. They currently have a ton of adoptables so check them out if you're looking for a new family member! We went home with the cutest all white kitten.

I adopted Diesel yesterday and I couldn’t be more pleased. He did well on the meet and greet with my older dog Reuben and with me. He even tolerated our mean cat when I got him home. That’s another plus. He rides well in the car, is house broken, and I found he already knows basic commands. Unlike some of the other reviews I didn’t notice any strong odors, the staff was knowledgeable and I was able to take him home same day. I drove 2 hours and I would do it again. I had a very good experience here.

We adopted our Willy just last week. He stole our hearts in the meet and greet minutes into it! I found him on the sight a little while after our sweet Enzo got hit by a car. It was devastating! We wanted to adopt a grown cat that needed a home in honor of our sweet boy and sure enough, we did!! The work the humane society staff put in and the support was tremendous! Wonderful people, you’re new family addition will be sent home with you in excellent condition and very healthy!! Don’t hesitate! Adopt today! I promise it’ll make a huge difference!! Every animal deserves a loving home and family and you could be the only one that will give said animal his/her second chance!!

Nice look building. Nice workers when you visit.Website could use a visual of animals at the shelter that are ready for adoption. I was antisapating on seeing what they had to there if I wanted to adopt. But don't even know if they have any animals in there. It's disappointing. Should update the site to have that.

My boys and I adopted a dog here. They are very thorough in choosing a pet owner. It's not like it was years ago. They have a new building and kennels. Parking is free. It's relatively cheap to adopt.

I got my best friend Cooper here back in March, he's the best buddy I've ever adopted, they told me I would most likely have alot of problems with him and I would need alot of patience, but he's been a perfect companion ever since he got in my car❤️

Though when adopted he was known as "Monte", now renamed Jasper, he is a true joy to have around. Glad we adopted each other.

I have adopted 4 dogs from here. They are the most healthiest and happiest dogs. I just adopted one yesterday and he is doing very well. I couldn't be happier with how the adoption process works and how nice the staff is. They want to make sure all dogs get along in the household. The meet and greet is a wonderful idea. Just because you want a certain dog doesn't mean it is going to work out. The facility is very clean. They do have a part in your adoption papers to have your own vet check them over within 20 days and that is what I do and they are healthy Everytime.

Clean and roomy , This is 1 of the Humans Society's that don't put the animals to sleep. They are cared for and treated very well while waiting on their forever home. The animals can go out side while in their own run. And also get human contact by the volunteers and staff that work there. My grandson volunteered,he is 8 and was so happy to be able to have contact with the animals. Which makes them less afraid. If you can't find a home for you pet ,please, consider the Humane Society rather than letting the animal loose.

There were too many red flags with this place. One the volunteer had no info about the dog we were viewing and even when we brought in our 18 month old to see if they would be ok together she still had no idea on questions we asked her. My father in law would ask her a question and she said " I don't remember, I'd have to go get his chart". Why these volunteers don't know anything about the animals god only knows. But i don't know how you except people to buy an animal if you have employees who answer questions with that response. I don't know if it was just this volunteer or all of them or if we were just inconveniencing her but we are here to view a possible dog and you know nothing. Then when we unfortunately have to possibly return the dog cause the safety of our son we get told there's a full schedule for a day and asked to come during the week when we can't cause of our work schedules and getting our son from daycare and then get no RESPONSE A BACK!! That's the best part. What kind of business is this that they don't respond back to you! Especially the safety of a child. I should of never agreed to come to this place. I feel bad for all these animals that have to be there. I will tell everyone about this place. Never again. Shouldn't have to worry about the safety of our child cause this place doesn't know if a dog would be a good fit. Very disappointed.

It was a long drive up for us but we loved Henry. We finally got up there to see him and brought him home the same day! He actually loved the car ride home. Hes a great boy already! We needed a friend for our beagle and hes perfect. He loves my husband, Ryan, most of all. We will send them donations every year. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have Henry!

The staff is very nice and helpful. The 3 week waiting period seemed like a long time but it ended up being worth it. It helps to verify the customer's good intentions in adopting and assuring the animal is in good health. We are happy with our choice of a sweet cat named Rosalie, now named Daphne.

Wonderful, caring staff. Although the dog I'd taken home was too much for me to handle. However, the owner refunded my money. I'd definitely recommend Venango Co. Humane Society to anyone who would like to adopt

I have gotten 2 of my 3 dogs here. And had my escape artist beagle wind up behind bars here as well. It would be easy to say that it was just an average shelter and end the review there, but I have seen the way the dogs react to the staff, and can tell that the staff really cares about the well being of the animals in their care.

Donated canned food as our dog passed. The odor just about knocked me out. I went through the building and didn't see any feces. All the animals looked to be in good health. May need to change cleaning supplies.

This is the most unorganized place I have ever been to. We were there yesterday and filled out an application for Scout, the retriever/lab mix. They called us today to tell us that we were approved to adopt Scout. We get there after driving an hour and they then decide to tell us that Scout had a home visit YESTERDAY with another family and that they were coming to get him today. Never once telling us that he even had a home visit yesterday and was already being adopted by another family. They should of had a pending adoption sign on his kennel and never allowed us to meet him if he was already being adopted by another family. If you plan to adopt from here please make sure you get the full story first before getting your hopes up.

I've adopted my last 2 dogs there. They do background checks before you can adopt which is a must! They keep the place spotless! They really seem to genuinely care about animals

One of the cleanest and best kept kennels I've ever seen. The animals were all so clean and very well cared for by the amazing staff. A big thumbs up for Venango!

Nice facility but after selecting a cat I could not adopt it because I could not produce any form of proof that I owned the house I would be taking the cat to. Who goes around carrying the deed to their home with them? I don't believe it is any ones business at the facility. No wonder there are so many animals needing adopted. They did suggest I return when I could prove I own a house. I think this is a rediculus requirement.

My girlfriend and I were approved to adopt a retriever/lab mix named Scout today after we met him yesterday. Upon our arrival today, they decided to tell us after driving an hour that he had a home visit yesterday when we met him and was already being adopted by another family. So they told us on the phone that we were approved to adopt Scout then once we got there told us no. This is the most unorganized place I’ve ever been to.

I had to surrender, my friend Clyde the Blu Heeler on the day after Christmas because I'm disabled an could no longer care for him. I miss him alot and hope that he finds a great an loving for ever home. Thank you folks for all that you do and the care you give to the animals in your caring facility. If possible could you let me know how he has adapted to the shelter an if he is ok. I will be looking for any info from you here in this part of your site.Thank you!

Very interested in the dog but every dog I seem to be interested in they say it's not going to be a good fit and wish I could bring a few dogs to me because I have no way of getting up there I have a county person but they're not allowed to go out of the county so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place

Was asked to leave. Very loudly disagreed with Ashley regarding surrender of Bear, Honey Bear, Sweet Baby Bear. 8 YO German shepherd mix. I have not bothered to open certified letter from them. Will have attorney Merkel respond. Removed from my named charity in my estate plan. Regret paying adoption fees on Mazy & Bear thru their chapter. Live & learn.
