It has been many many years since Dr Horst seen our Chihuahua Bella for an emergency visit. Very nice people and they have gone above and beyond a time or two. I highly recommend but they are a little busy so plan routine visits in advance. We love AHCM !!

I highly recommend Animal Health Care of Myerstown! They took such good care of our boxer dog and scheduled his vaccine and wellness visits in a timely manner. As any good pet owner knows, it costs money to keep your pet healthy and up to date on their shots, heartworm pills, tick prevention, wellness visits, medicine if they are sick, ultrasounds, x-rays, etc. We can't expect an Animal Health Care facility to work for free! The prices are completely reasonable and the doctor communicated well with us about treatment options and any necessary medication. We were never pressured into doing or paying for something that was not necessary.Sadly, our sweet Charlie Brown passed away from cancer after bringing joy to our home for the past 9 1/2 years. The staff was so sweet and caring! They fit us into their busy schedule when he was so sick, in order for a doctor to figure out why he had stopped eating and drinking. After the passing of our pet, I was deeply touched to receive a sympathy card in the mail from the staff.This place truly cares about your pet!

Our family loves these vets! We take our dogs and Flemish Giant rabbit. Last year during the pandemic when they weren't allowing people to walk their dogs in, my dog had to have dental surgery, removing 11 teeth. They were SO organized and took such great care to bring him to my car. When our rabbit had an ear infection, they took great care of him. From the staff to the vets, everyone is so nice and they really try to get your pet in for whatever they need. When our rabbit first came home, he was very stressed and the vets gladly answered calls, emails etc when we kept updating him with them. This is what a vet office should be. I wouldn't take our pet family anywhere else!

We have been using AHCM for over 4 years now. We have our two labs with them which are frequent fliers there. Our boy had an intestinal blockage last summer which prompted a 4 day stay and emergency surgery. Though it was costly (as any major surgery is), AHCM was so compassionate, and kept us up to date every day on how he was doing/ what the price was up to. They took the best care of him, and when we went to pick him up the staff took their time to say goodbye to him and were calling him by his nickname. It warmed our hearts and their prompt appointment saved our dogs life. Dr. Horst did an amazing job on sutures, and the surgery itself. There were no complications. Our other dog recently needed dental surgery, and the price was amazing compared to other local vets. Same deal, they kept us posted on how she was doing and took the best care of her. We will never see another vet as long as we are living here, they are just the best!

I take my cat here! They get us back into the exam room pretty quickly and then they allow me to take her out and let her roam freely to make her feel comfortable and her comfort is so important to me. Then the vets are so gentle and caring with her. My parents go to this vet as well and we will continue with this vet as long as we have pets.

Im new to the area and they were able to squeeze me into a cancelation appointment. Everyone was very friendly and professional. The vet even climb up to get my scared cat off of the cabinets. It was just a new patient appointment so nothing to write home about. Overall good experience and cant wait to schedule his surgery.

This is the vet we take our 73 lb boxer. She loves it there. Most dogs are terrified to go to the vet but not our dog. I think it is because of how positive everyone there is. There all so nice and caring. They really love the animals they care for. There very knowledgable too. Always helpful when we have a question about our dogs health.

We visited today about our cat. We were helped as soon as we opened the door and guided to a room. Within minutes we were greeted by a vet tech who got our kitties temp done as well as list of symptoms before taking her back.We were greeted 5 minutes later by Dr. Horst and given an explanation of what he found on an ultrasound as well as a recommendation for an x-ray. Once we went forward with it we discovered she had a lot of bladder stones. Dr Horst spent the time answering every question we had as well as went over various treatment options moving forward. Once we were satisfied, another vet tech was with us and going over her medicine as well as setting us up with a special diet food to help dissolve the stones without pushing for a costly surgery.After our kitty was packed up, we paid and left the office with a follow up and our medicine and food. After getting home and researching prices, I was shocked to find that it was on the lower end.Our visit was quick and it was the least stressed any of our cats (and ourselves) have been at the vet. The staff is friendly and wonderful from the medical staff to the front end receptionists as well as the cheapest I've experienced. My family will be using this vet office for our fur family from now on. I would rate higher than 5 stats if I could. Great job from the staff.

I had made an appointment with Animal Health Care of Myerstown they got me the soonest available appointment for me to bring in my ferret. Sadly before my appointment my ferret Mayhem passed away… I was heartbroken. I called the vets office to cancel his appointment so another sick animal could have it. I also asked if they knew were I could have him cremated. They offered cremation services to me. I brought him in that day. The staff was so nice to me. I asked them if they could possibly try to get his paw print for me. I knew it was a long shot but I asked anyway and they said they’d try their best. Not only did they take care of my baby, they gave me his blankets I had him wrapped up in back (which I didn’t expect) they sent me a very sweet card, gave me the exact date that I could pick him up and to my surprise they got the paw prints I asked for from my baby. While I miss him so much, I’m so thankful that they did their best for me. It means the world to me. So thank you to the staff!

If you want a great vet come here!!! I called them today regarding my lizard. They were able to get me in, in a snap. He is happy and healthy. They handled my baby well and were very knowledgeable about everything. The exotic vet here is great with reptiles! Communication is great I knew everything that was going on as it was going on. The staff are very kind and helpful. I’ll definitely be back next time I need my reptiles seen!!!

After years of taking pets here, we are deeply disappointed and do not recommend this vet office to anyone. Dr. Horst saw our dog two days ago to address stomach issues that had been going on for days. He prescribed an antibiotic to treat her and said her blood work was normal for a dog her age. Yesterday she collapsed, and when we called to inquire whether it could be related to the antibiotic, they refused to consider that possible and also refused to see her for an emergency appointment (after pleading for an appointment on the phone, the receptionist said she was too busy to keep talking and needed to go - such terrible customer service). We ended up having to take her to an emergency vet where they found the cause and she passed away.I still cannot believe that Dr. Horst and his team turned us away in an emergency. What shameful practice standards.I'll also note that this was not the first time we were turned away by this practice. Several years ago our dog had non-stop vomiting and diarrhea, they refused to see her until the next day. We thought she would pass away that night because things were so bad. Thankfully we were blessed with a few more years with her.Dr. Horst and his colleagues are unreliable, rude, and I am beyond disappointed in this practice.--UPDATED to address the response from this office:I did not state in my review that medication prescribed by this office caused the problem, rather that questioning if it was related was completely brushed off. Providing an appointment the next day is not acceptable for a dog that is unable to move or walk and is in distress, so we were forced to take her to an emergency vet since your practice turned us away. I am disgusted that your business would attempt to make it seem as if we choose to euthanize our pet of 11.5 years as an easy decision, and it's sad that the emergency vet's office was more empathetic and thorough than the office we had been regular patients at for over a decade. Unfortunately, you didn't mention in your snarky reply the considerations regarding the cost of surgery, the likelihood of it being successful at her age, the long and painful recovery that would follow, the costly rehabilitation that would be needed or her severe arthritis disintegrating her other hip.We were blessed with many years with our dog and were aware that our time left with her was likely not going to be long; I am not looking for somebody to blame, I am expressing my disappointment in this practice's standards and sharing the way that we were treated in an emergency so that future customers can be aware as well.When it truly counts, your business does not show empathy, care, or compassion and treats long time customers very poorly. I still genuinely cannot recommend your office to anyone. We were unhappy with your service long before this and had only remained with your practice due to our dog's increasing anxiety. Your response to my review is disrespectful and disappointing.

had an appointment, showed up, appointment not even in their records even though i had a card with the appointment time and date. had me and my very upset cat wait an hour after the vet tech came saying it would only be a few minutes. as i was tired of waiting and leaving the vet comes in takes my cat out the carrier just to do what i had done that same morning.. weigh him. gave me advice on his weight and tried selling me weight loss food. still charged me $65 for an appointment they didn’t even have in their computer and just to have my time WASTED

I took my dog to the Animal Health Care of Myerstown because I was concerned that my dog had an ear infection. We were taken to a room and the technician came and took my dog out to look at her ears. The technician brought my dog back in approximately 2 minutes. The vet came into the room and said there was no infection but had a $42.50 ear wash to clean out her ears IF needed. The vet was in the room less than a minute.I was in the exam room less than 5 minutes total. The charge was $161.00! The “office visit” was $61.00, the ear analysis (which should be part of the visit) was $27.50. The medication $42.50. I did have a fecal test added which was $30. The fecal charge I have no issue with.I did ask that I speak to Dr. Horst, the owner, regarding the cost. I was told that a receptionist would speak to him instead. He would not discuss the exorbitant bill. I would not recommend the Animal Health Care of Myerstown. I do not mind paying a reasonable price if my animal actually has a visit which entails a check up longer than 2 minutes. Even with COVID and the need for social distancing, my dog should have been with the vet or technician longer than 2 minutes for this large a charge. That is not enough time for a proper exam.I will not be returning and I do not recommend this facility. It is unfortunate that the owner would not speak with me. If he was busy, a phone call would have been warranted. I’m very disappointed.

First time there. The front desk staff is very kind and so helpful. We were pleased with the facility but our actual vet period felt rushed with automated responses to our questions and concerns. This portion of the visit felt a bit unpersonable to our pet and us.The assistants here however did give you a one on one experience. They do a great job

I liked this place! They staff was helpful & curtious. They allowed my dog & I to go back to a room right away so he could be calm. Dr. was friendly, informative. Not long waits & reasonable rates! We will be going back! 👌
